I really enjoyed it. I stayed here before 5 years ago and they redid the rooms. Feels wayyy better now. Cleaner and more satisfying. Ill be staying here again soon.

It’s an easy and quiet place to stay, sleep, take a shower and more. Close to transportation and many businesses.

One thing that hotels.com does not tell you is that with a hostel they want you to be traveling and they want you to present your airplane ticket or bus ticket. I needed but cheap room in LA for one night so I went ahead and went in and I showed them my bus ticket. But my ID was from California. She said I'll let you pass tonight but you can't stay more than one night. So that is not listed in hotels.com.

The worst part was definitely the AC not working in peak LA summer, it felt like a sauna during the day and I d’ wake up soaking in sweat. I tried talking to the management but all they did was calling someone to clean the filter, which didn’t solve a thing and nothing else was done after that. Cleaning was poorly done, could be better as well. Shower head was hanging because the piece that holds it to the wall was broken. They say they offer breakfast but it’s 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter, coffee or tea and a pancake mixture, I wouldn’t call that breakfast tbh… Staff was overall nice but I wouldn’t return.

I had a great stay at the hostel—friendly staff, clean rooms, and a vibrant atmosphere. However, my last day was spoiled by an unfortunate incident. When I went to check out, someone took my mug and tea maker from my room within minutes. Disappointingly, the hostel staff didn't take responsibility. Aside from this, it was a good experience

It’s a hostel, so you can’t expect much, but even with that it failed expectations. The $20 deposit you will probably never get back. Toilet paper goes in the trash cans not in the toilet so good luck with that smell. Looks like there’s no professional work done on the property in who knows how many years. The “complimentary breakfast” is really just peanut butter and jelly you make yourself hoping no one double dipped. The bathrooms have no towels and there aren’t enough bathrooms for how many guests are staying there. The lockers are put in between a wall so you have to have a very small lock to fit and only a small bag or two that will fit in the locker. The beds are uncomfortable and small. I’m not one to have bad allergies but I got hives from the bedding. If you don’t have much stuff, and just want a place to sleep and looking for the cheapest place available then this is the place for you. Otherwise I would look elsewhere. To me it was not worth the cheap rate.

Amazing location and stay, 10 minute walk from the D line. Staff went above and beyond to correct a mistake I made by selecting the wrong dorm and were able to get me a room regardless. Room was clean, beds were clean and the place was secure. Very much so recommend staying here 10/10.

I like the style. And I totally support their originality. I came from SF for a concert in LA and I didn’t want to mind a lot of fees in a regular hotel. And this place sufficed the purpose.
You’ll find a lot of travelers and backpackers. Chill people - haven’t met anybody disrespectful. However, you need to understand people have different cultures.
That being said, everyone was nice specially Irene (or I guess that was her name?) the nice blond lady from the evening shift.
Thanks Rumi Hostel! I enjoyed my short but nice trip in LA!

Room was smelling very musty and we had to shorten our stay because it felt unsafe I was gagging in the room.

I really loved my stay at the Rumi Hostel. I met nice people and felt safe during my entire stay. The bed hurt my back, I believe it may not have been firm enough. Other than that, it really was a beautiful stay. I’d like to come back some day soon.

During my recent trip to Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of staying at the Rumi Hostel, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere of the hostel. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and were incredibly helpful throughout my stay, ensuring I felt at home from the very beginning.
The hostel itself is beautifully designed, blending modern amenities with a cozy, artistic vibe. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The common areas were equally impressive, offering plenty of space to unwind, socialize, and even get some work done.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hostel's central location. Situated in the heart of Los Angeles, it provided easy access to many of the city's top attractions. I found myself just a short walk away from great restaurants, vibrant nightlife, and iconic landmarks. This made exploring the city a breeze, allowing me to make the most of my time in Los Angeles.
Overall, my stay at the Rumi Hostel was nothing short of wonderful. The combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and prime location made it the perfect home base for my adventures in Los Angeles. I highly recommend the Rumi Hostel to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay in this vibrant city.

Arrived at least an hour early but checked in late (~20 minutes) as room not ready as per check in time. Able to use dining area, wifi and shower/bathroom prior to check in and leave bags nearby. Location was good to catch public transport and not too far to visit tourist attractions. Ensure you leave enough time to travel and mostly during day light hours.

The employees kept calling me an idiot and kept trying to "dominate" me. I'm not sure why they kept following me around but it seems like they were trying to entice me to fight them, in order to get me arrested.

i came after 10 pm when check-in was closed. but staff did their best to help me.
they also asked me proof of travel.
breakfast surprised me - nutella, peanaut butter and bread. also coffee and creamer.
didn't really expect to have it for the small price paid.
wish towel was for free tho (rent is 2$ cash).

Staff is very responsive and friendly. Opens your mind to the world with transient occupants coming from different parts of the world and share experiences & travel hacks. Practical accommodation if your day is busy traveling around doing touristy stuff! Will definitely recommend to friends!

The best Cali vibes. People playing guitar in the front yard and piano in the living room, chilling on the couch, sharing stories. A little crowded, but very laid-back, the best place if you want to get the sense of youth in LA, learn about Tunisian, Indian and Russian food in one kitchen and exchange travel experiences… I will be back!

Nice for the price just make sure you bring your slippers earplugs and sleep eye mask so when they turn on the light or they snore at night you should not annoyed them. Please be polite for your roommate, and the slippers is for the restroom. The bed is comfy for sleep. Convenient area.

Suitcases must be kept in a commons area and I had a carryon stolen or mistaken, but was never returned to me. The manager gave me a replacement piece, but the contents of used tickets and other merchandise were inside. I was really disappointed. But the price cannot be beat and I will likely stay there again because of its central location to everything. Russian is the main language spoken here but several speak good English. Be sure to ask for a towel at night since the front desk will not open until 11:00am. Good luck.

Our stay at the Rumi was okay. When we checked in, we saw that we were sharing with males in our room. I made sure to book a females only room and when I checked online, it said females only shared room. I was upset when they told us that we booked a room shared with males, but one of the employees (I think he was) offered us a private room, but smaller. I was so grateful for this kind gesture and for helping us.
Throughout our stay, our bed was suuuuper creaky. I think they need to do some maintenance and check things that needs to be properly repaired and fixed. In terms of cleanliness, it was pretty awful. There was hair everywhere! Suspicious brown specs and smudges all over doors and walls in the bathroom. One of the shower stalls reeked of pee. I have seen people cleaning everyday, but I don't think they do a good job.
Overall, price was very cheap, decent location, helpful staff, but cleanliness and maintenance needs to be improved.

I liked the place a lot and think it is one of the best cost-benefit hostels in L.A. My only complaint is that they emphasize that you have to be a traveler to stay there, they even asked me to show my flight tickets to prove that I was going to leave L.A, but in my shared room there was a guy that said he was living there for a while. And he was a highly inconvenient person. He would turn on the lights at inappropriate times, and watch TikToks while people were trying to sleep. However, the place is a great cost-benefit, the people there seemed nice and I would definitely stay there again.

You get what you pay for.
There was a man snoring through the night and another man yelling at him. Wasn’t able to sleep for a min.
