The accommodation and food was nice, we were let down by the tours and communication. The night walk was disappointing as we walked very close to our accommodation, so was not really the jungle walk we were expecting. However the river cruises were good, apart from being let down by our boat breaking down within the first 10 minutes of our tour and being stuck in the water for over 20 minutes. This time was just taken from our tour time therefore we had a shorter river cruise than other groups and in this time they saw an orangutan which we missed. We were let down by communication and pick up. The itinerary we originally had changed, we only found this out by emailing to confirm the time we would be dropped off at the airport after checkout to book our flights. As we had booked our incoming flight based on the original itinerary we arrived at the airport 2 1/2 hours before needed which was a shame. Following this our pickup was over an hour late, which we only found out when we contacted them as we had been stood outside waiting. Overall I would not recommend this tour due to communication and the way the tour was handled. If communication was better we would have gone to the orangutan sanctuary before pickup with the 3 1/2 hour wait as this was on the original itinerary. As we missed the opportunity to see one in the wild when our boat broke down we were really disappointed. I expected more for the cost of this tour as we spent more as we were on our honeymoon.

Great budget option. We saw lots of wildlife, including wild orangutans, from the river, though very little on the night tour (some milipedes and one bird). We were in a cabin - bedroom was fine, bathroom a bit tired. Dorm rooms looked reasonable, but if it rains there is nowhere to dry clothes, and the shared bathrooms were a bit grim. Staff timekeeping could have been better - turned up for the nature talk on our first night, and it just never happened; the whole camp was ready and kitted up on the boat jetty by 5.55am for the 6am boat trip, but staff didn't turn up until 6.15am. That said, we enjoyed in overall, and it's definitely a good value option compared with other expensive places on the river. Food was excellent throughout.

The pool is the redeeming feature of this tired, very average hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was a good size, with aircon. It took me a couple of cool showers to work out how to increase the temperature of the water :) The towels and bedding were pretty rough – a sheet on my bed had a rip in it and the cover also, and the towels looked like they had been recycled from the room next-door – they looked dirty. They were tired, to say the least. The curtains had hooks missing and did not close properly. The meals in the Banana Café were OK, but I found the vegetables a bit scarce in the Sweet & Sour Prawns with Vegetables (3 pieces of capsicum and 2 of zucchini or similar). Pleased to see a refurb happening outside. I hope it extends to the inside too.
