About this house rental
Verre de Mer is a beautiful, private and substantial house set amongst landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Salcombe. To one side of the house are views over the North Sands valley and out to sea; the other takes in the beautiful Devon countryside and glorious sunsets. From the bottom of the garden you can get onto Beadon Road which in no time takes you down to the ever popular North Sands beach and the Winking Prawn - a Salcombe institution!
Forget beige, greige and all those nothings in between. Colour, in all its infinite variety, takes centre stage at Verre de Mer. Spacious and light, it is perfect for families looking to enjoy some tranquillity in style. Leading off the main living area there is a huge terrace just perfect for entertaining, and the beautiful gardens are a joy to explore. Find the secluded summer house with decking and a charcoal barbecue; the ideal spot for enjoying a sundowner or two.
The steep driveway down to the house makes for an impressive entrance to Verre de Mer. Entering the main house takes you into the recently upgraded kitchen which is spacious and well-equipped. A Sage coffee machine will make coffee lovers very happy as it makes the ultimate cup of coffee from fresh beans, freshly ground at the touch of a button, freshly extracted, all in less than 60 seconds.
There is plenty of storage for food and the all important drinks in the kitchen fridge. The open plan kitchen leads to the dining area and through to the first sitting room with glorious views, wood burner and television; a great space to spend time relaxing with your guests.
Doors from the kitchen/dining area lead out onto the most wonderful, sunny and impressively positioned terrace. There is plenty of seating for al fresco dining and relaxation whilst taking in those sea views.
A second sitting room houses an enormous television with surround sound; perfect for watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters, or for enjoying more of those sea views.
Upstairs to the first floor is where you'll find three generously proportioned bedrooms and bathrooms. The master bedroom (super king or twin) with en suite bathroom is large and has superb views out to sea. The second bedroom (kingsize) also has its own en suite bathroom.
The further bedroom (a room that can be either a super king size or twin) has the choice of a family bathroom and an additional shower room, so plenty of bathing facilities for all your guests.
Outside the house it is a pleasure to meander through the terraced gardens. Throughout the year the flowers are changing, and in autumn you are welcome to enjoy freshly picked apples from the orchard area. There is a summer house in the garden with some outdoor furniture on the decking and a barbecue. This is a particularly lovely spot to chill out and watch the night draw in as the sun sets.
At the bottom of the garden there is access to Beadon Road which takes you down to North Sands when you're ready to leave Verre de Mer for some beach action! This property is dog friendly and there are no dog restrictions on North Sands beach which is within easy in walking distance from the house. Please note, there is an additional fee per dog, per week or short break.
Please note that the driveway is steep and you should be confident with your clutch!
Gardeners will be working for 3 hours on a Monday in the grounds.
Please note that children should be supervised in the gardens at all times.
No smoking allowed.
Please note this is the reduced occupancy version of Mandalay. There is an additional room on the top floor with an en-suite as well as a stand alone twin room looking out to sea on the first floor and an annexe above the garage which are not included in the rental and are out of bounds. Unfortunately, if these are used, you will be charged the full occupancy price. If you're a larger party looking for full use of this property do take a look at Mandalay too.
