hard to imagine a greater contrast between a property and its location.
it's situated in an amazingly privileged placement. as far as I can tell it's the only ski-in ski-out accommodation in the area. just strap on your board or skis and you're 30 seconds' glide down to the lift. the only issue about the location is that there are relatively few places in walking distance, and the shuttles stop running early - so be prepared for longish walks or a taxi back from dinner at night.
the prime location makes it all the more strange that the property itself is so medicore, like a 2 star hostel. rooms are small and not well kept, with stained carpeting and curtains dangling unevenly from windows. beds are extremely firm, and some bedrooms have no windows. shuto the caretaker is great, but it's crazy that there's only one staff member to manage the whole place, working seven days a week - so it's not surprising that the upkeep isn't great.
all in all, this is a pretty decent crashpad for winter sports people given the proximity to the slopes - but if you're looking for comfort, amenities, or anything other than basic accomodations, look elsewhere.

I cannot thank Marcos and wife enough for their hospitality and generosity during our stay. They both went out of their way to help with any questions and were always exceptionally polite. This was our third visit to Hakuba and we are hoping to again visit next year. If we do, without hesitation we will stay at Condominium Hakuba Goryu.

The location of this hotel is excellent: ski in and ski out. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our biggest issue was with the beds: very small and uncomfortable is you are 186 CM. Could be time for new carpets etc.

Host Marcos is really nice...the drive to supermarket is very helpful, the information for skiing is ample. The ski in / out is convenient, only a few steps away from the gondola. Will recommend to friends.

The location of the property is excellent, just walk out the back and you are on the slopes, the chair lift is literally outside your window. The accommodation is not fancy, it is basic, but clean. We were able to cook easily as the kitchenette is well complemented, i.e. stove top, microwave, toaster oven, plenty of cutlery, dishes and anything you need to cook with. The bloke manning the desk, Marcos, always made himself available if we needed to go somewhere to get food or ski equipment. He was very dependable. There are a few places you can eat, e.g. a cafe next door and one across the street, but there isn't a lot of variety. Great coffee shop at the foot of the hill leading up to the condo, by this I mean good Melbourne type coffee. When we come back, we will stay here.

The hotel is in a great location for skiing. It's under one of the main chair lifts and the room had a little kitchenette, which made it easy to have lunches and dinner while skiing. You do need a car to fully enjoy the hotel as it's not near any train station and/or a store to buy food items.

Rooms are very small, but comfortable. Great position right beside the main lift and you can ski direct to the Gondola. The staff were very helpful and nothing was a problem. They would drive us to the supermarket whenever required and also drove us to restaurants if they were too far away. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. You should note that Hakuba Goyru is one of the smaller resorts and you need to catch a bus to the larger areas (such as Happo). Major complaint was the Internet access. For us, internet access was critical as my wife and I both need to run our respective businesses whilst we are travelling. The Internet connection was very good, BUT it was turned off when the Manager went off duty (around 10.00 pm) and was not turned back on until he arrived back in the morning (at 7.00 am). This was a major issue for us and intensely frustrating. We would not have stayed here if we were aware of this 9 hour black hole1!

Snowside Goryu Condos is in an amazing location: you can literally look out of the window and talk to people on the chair lift. From the front door, you put on your skis and it's less than a minute's ski to the lift.
It's a budget apartment block. This means that, on the down side, the reception is not manned 24/7, the rooms aren't serviced daily, and there's no room service, no guest lounge, no dining room or meals available. On the upside, it is spotlessly clean, everything from lifts to vending machines to self-service laundry and drying room work, there are beds (not futons -- so great for gaijins) and ensuite bathrooms, the rooms are warm and surprisingly spacious for Japan, the kitchenettes are fully functional and well-equipped.
The other big upside is the staff. While they're not paid to be there 24/7, they are available at all times of the day and night (including 1.30am arrival and 5am departure) and go out of their way to help. We never had to ask for a lift -- they offered. Noodle restaurant? Sure. I'll give you a lift there in 10 minutes. All this conducted in broken / sign language and big smiles.
All in all, big thumbs up

Right on the side of the bottom piste so great ski in and out. However there isn't a lot in walking distance for choice of food in the evening. We also found very little hot water and dirty sheets. The staff were very helpful when we had our hire car involved in an accident.

Great value hotel right on the main ski run at Hakuba Goryu. We stayed in a double room on the top floor with a view over the ski runs, couldn't ask for a better location.

All-in-all, for the price I thought it was great. Super close to the ski slopes, walking distance to rentals and food. Cute, comfortable place but a little older and could use some work! The price made it a great value IMO.

Loved the location, literally ski-in/ski-out. Service was great as well, very helpful to me and picked me up/dropped me off at the bus station.
The room furniture was a little worn and the neighborhood was a bit quiet at night, but overall a great stay!

Upon entering the lobby, I was very worried. A kerosene heater on the floor, pay lockers, and a rack full of shoes. I arrived late and there was nobody at the desk so I had to call a number and have the person come down, which took about 20 minutes. They do have limited front desk hours posted, but I was unaware of this when I got there (around 6 pm). When the owner arrived, he was very friendly and even offered to take me to the grocery store if I needed anything. They do require that you do not wear shoes in the hotel, and there is a large basket of communal slippers to be used. I was pleasantly surprised with the room, which was a miniature loft setup with two single beds upstairs and a full kitchen and bath downstairs. The room was way better than I expected and although a little old, was quite nice. My only complaint about the room was the temperature; when I arrived it was maybe 50 degrees in the room, and with the heater on full blast, I don't think it ever got past 65. This place is really not a hotel and is more like a condo as the name suggests. They require that you clean all your dishes and take your trash down to the main bin. Overall, it was well worth the price, and the best part was that you could hit the slopes right outside the front door.

I would highly recommend this accommodation. The place was clean, cosy and is right on the ski runs so good for ski in/ski out. Most importantly, the staff are fantastic and will go out of their way to assist (one helped us fully plan our trip to see the snow monkeys-a must see). Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definately return if we go back to Hakuba!
