About this house rental
Offering light and cosy accommodation perfect for five guests, this delightful hideaway is a perfect base for walkers discovering the breath-taking National Landscapes of both Dorset and Cranborne Chase. The property lies at the heart of the pretty rural village of Durweston, just west of the River Stour, with miles of pleasant walking trails to discover. In the nearby village of Stourpaine (1.1 miles) there is a cosy country pub which also serves food. To the north-west, you can head to the beautifully restored Shillingstone Station (3.5 miles), home of the North Dorset Railway. Heading south-east, the charming Georgian town of Blandford Forum (3 miles) lies along the meeting point of the gorgeous Dorset National Landscape and the majestic Cranborne Chase National Landscape. The town has a range of friendly eateries, pubs and boutique shops, and is home to the Blandford Fashion Museum. Other attractions and landmarks include the Royal Signals Museum, Hod Hill, Hambledon Hill and the stunning Venetian palace-style Kingston Lacy, all within 10 miles.
A shared entrance hallway leads to a private door and into this characterful getaway. Stepping inside, you will find the three bright and cheerful bedrooms all decorated in warm, soothing shades: you will have a choice between two lovely king-size rooms and a relaxing super-king-size room (which can be made up as a twin on request). Back in the hallway, there’s a stylish and refreshing bathroom alongside a separate WC and a utility cupboard with the washing machine. Five steps lead up into the fresh and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Benefitting from light pouring in through the bi-fold doors, the cheerful lounge is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of seating, a Smart TV, and a welcoming wood burner. There’s a central farmhouse-style dining table, with a tastefully arranged and fully equipped corner kitchen to the rear.
From the lounge, bi-fold doors lead out into the sweet, fully enclosed walled garden. A step leads down to the patio which features outdoor furniture and makes a charming spot for dining alfresco on a sunny afternoon. The garden also has a pretty lawn and a characterful old brick outhouse with some storage for wet weather gear if needed and a cosy seating area for two. There’s an off-road parking space for one car, subject to availability, with additional roadside parking.
