About this apartment rental
Beautiful apartment of two floors beautifully situated in the center of Leiden. 2 bedrooms, full kitchen and a large bathroom. Perfectly located in the heart of the city, at the end of the shopping street. All terraces, shops, restaurants and theaters are within walking distance. A dream apartment!
You enter on the ground floor. With the spiral staircase you go to the first floor, where the apartment is located. The house has a cozy living room with a beautiful wooden floor on the first floor. The open kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher and combi microwave. On this floor there is also a separate toilet and laundry room with washing machine and dryer.
On the second floor, which has just been fitted with completely new carpet, there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a comfortable box spring and an antique wardrobe. In the second bedroom there are two single beds. The bathroom has a shower and a wonderful bath to recover from a pleasant day in Leiden. This bathroom has no toilet. The location could not be better: in the middle of the old town, surrounded by dozens of restaurants, cafes and terraces. You do not need a taxi, because the entire center is within walking distance. Welcome to this top apartment in this beautiful city!
The entire apartment is at the guest's disposal.
In principle I am only there when checking in and when checking out. But if there is anything, I can always be reached!
Transport options
At 50m. distance is the bus stop. The Central station is a 10-minute walk (through the shopping street).
There are parking spaces behind the apartment. These are paid parking spaces from 9 am to 9 pm. 300 meters from the apartment is a parking garage. The car can be parked for free outside the center.

A comfortable, clean and well stocked apartment in a fantastic location. It easily accommodated our family of 5 and we loved the convenience of being right on the centre. The owners were really helpful and easy to deal with. Would definately stay there again.

Location and overall set up was fantastic. We were able to walk most everywhere we wanted to go in Leiden. The suite could use some extra blankets, face cloths, and information about the neighbourhood and Leiden (map, interact locations, bike rentals, how to use the TV). The spiral stairs leading to the second floor are in need of repair or replacement as the handrail is so close to the wall that it's unusable. Overall, we loved our stay.

We loved the location! The property owners, Sabine & Martin communicated well and were very friendly. The apartment itself was modern but allowed the history to shine through. It was clean, bright and spacious. Very comfortable beds that made for a great night sleep each evening. All the amenities provided made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely stay again. Didn’t want to leave.

All very clear.

The apartment was exactly as described. The rooms were very large and the beds were comfortable. The laundry was a perfect touch as we didn't have to pack too much. Sabine is very friendly and responds quickly. The large bathtub was fantastic to have after a long day exploring the town.

This place is a gem! Perfect location, 20 min walk to the Saturday Market in the heart of the centre. 5 min walk to a cheap parking garage (16 euro / 24 hours). The apt is in the first and second floor. Immaculate and it has all you need.
Sabine was very punctual, welcoming and helpful. All in all myself and my friends had a good stay and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Convenient Apartment
Well located for walking and getting around.
Facing the street, it was a little noisy and having the toilet on a different floor from the bedroom was somewhat inconvenient.
4.4
Spacious apartment, centrally located, but a bit dated.
The apartment is centrally located making it easy to explore this town on foot. Lots of restaurant and shopping options just across the street. A grocery store just around the corner. The apartment was spacious and and had everything we needed (coffee, plenty of towels, emergency toiletries etc). The host was very accommodating and easy to communicate with.
Although the apartment is older than the photos make it look. The bathroom could benefit from some upgrades - the lighting is quite dim and the shower curb is too low to avoid water all over the floor.
But overall, we have enjoyed our stay!
(Not part of the review, but one more things future travelers might want to consider - it's a university town and the apartment is located on one of the shopping streets. It was pretty loud on the weekend and made it quite challenging to sleep with the windows open)

The place is well situated and Sabine is a very responsive host easy to communicate with.

Lovely bright space in centre of city
Wonderful stay in Leiden at Sabine’s place. When we first arrived, we thought it needed some warming touches to make it more ‘gezellig’ but the bright big windows that let in the afternoon sun, the beautiful furniture pieces, the roomy bedrooms, all quietly won us over. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. It was quiet at night - no noise from neighbours. Very good coffee and a coffee maker were there and were appreciated! A good grocery store was just around the corner, and lots of stores just down the pedestrian-only street that the apartment is on. We rented bikes from the rental place a block away and thoroughly enjoyed our days in this beautiful city. Sabine was there at checkin and a gracious host. Thank you for sharing your space with us! This was our favourite stop on our trip!

Perfect Location and Spacious Apartment
Sabine was the perfect hostess! She accommodated our early arrival by letting us drop our luggage off and even arrive early. Sabine walked us in detail through everything and the town of Leiden itself. The apartment is in an excellent location to really see and do all that Leiden has to offer (which is a lot). We fell in love with the town and the apartment and would absolutely come back and stay again. 3 of us stayed and there was more than enough space. For Europe it was quite large. Miss it already!!!

Great location in center of Leiden, close to stores including an Albert Heijn. Apartment needs updating, definitely on shower and lighting. Dishwasher does not work well and leaves cups and silverware dirty (had to wash all by hand on arrival). Short turn around time requires the leaving guest to start the laundry of towels and throw out all garbage.

This apartment has old world charm that grew on me, and by the end of my 5 night stay, I was quite thinking of it as my home and it was a bit difficult to leave. But first I had to get over the fact that it is not nearly as glamorous as it appears in the pictures. In fact, it has a rental apartment feel to it. But as I said, it grew on me. Slowly I noticed the stained glass on the windows, the big lantern providing street light, and appreciated the spaciousness of the place (so much more than a hotel) and the large windows that can be flung open on a sunny afternoon, Another bonus is that the owners are in the bed business. Perhaps it was power of suggestion, but I found the bed to be super-comfortable.
The apartment is in a central location, and even though not located on a canal, you need go no further than the end of the street to find a restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking one. There is a supermarket around the corner and everything is within a 20 minute walking distance.
Some drawbacks: the apartment is not suitable for those with mobility issues, and some parents may worry about small children negotiating the two spiral staircases. The lack of toilet on the bedroom level will bother some. The shower "lip" is not high enough and the bathroom flooded every time i took a shower. The heat appeared not be working, and the TV stopped working after the first couple of days. These did not bother me, so I did not call the owners about it. The one problem I did contact them about, they were very responsive and came over immediately to fix it.
At first I was surprised that the guests are expected to take out the garbage, run the dishwasher and start the laundry before they leave. But after reading around the owner-guest tensions that can occur, I realized it is better to have these expectations clearly laid out. The cleaning fee is not very high, and in the end I was glad to do my part.
Overall, I recommend this place.

Sabine was wonderful and accomindating. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a great experience.
Loved the property! Only problem is the bedrooms are on the third floor and the bathroom is on the second. Not a big deal unless you have need of using the facilities during the night. Loved the location as well as the value!

This is a really nice spacious apartment very near everything worth seeing and doing in this amazing city. Sabine is a gracious host.

House near Leiden center, everything you need.
Nice house with everything you need for a nice stay.
Leiden is a medium size city, perfect for us as base camp to explore the country by car.
Parking in the area is paid, close supermarket has a10€ fee per day what is a good option .

Excellent appartment in an ideal location for exploring leiden and further afield.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I have rented numerous apartments in the Netherlands over the years. Whilst not the most expensive this was by far the most comfortable. It is well laid out and all the equipment fairly new and in good working order. The large bath and plentiful supply of hot water was a welcome plus. Additionally, the apartment could not have been better located for exploring Leiden. I fully intend to make use of the property again in the near future.
Thanks Sabine.

Central location, lovely well-equipped apartment
We were met by Sabine who showed us around and handed us the key. Clear instructions in folder and well-equipped with extras such as lots of towels in the bathroom and tea towels in the kitchen. Washing machine and drier were very useful. Everything was clean, organised and easy to use. A joy to stay in! Was great to stay so locally and on a street of shops - so can watch the world go by... Thank you to Sabine for a brilliant stay - our children also loved it!

Cycling holiday in Leiden
Martin and Sabine were perfect hosts. They kindly helped with the delivery and collection of our luggage from their shop and we had a perfect time in Leiden cycling around the locale. It's a wonderfully historic city with lots to see and do.

Lovely apartment
This apartment is very comfortable and convenient. The bus stop to / from the station is just around the corner. An Albert Hein supermarket is a very short walk away. The apartment is in a very picturesque part of the city; it is very interesting to explore the nearby streets and canals. There is a bike hire shop just down the road and it is not too far to take a day ride to the seaside or around the lakes.
4.4
Comfortable but worn
Sabine was very communicative and easy to book with. Advantages include great location in Leiden near supermarket, parking garage and interesting places to eat along the canal as well as great location from which to explore Delft, Haarlem, Amsterdam and The Hague. Beds were very comfortable and there was a nice washer, dryer and TV. Unfortunately, the pictures didn't fairly represent the apartment. The kitchen was adequate although a couple of bigger serving bowls would have been nice. Some of the utensils and a coffee cup were found dirty in cupboards. As you enter the apartment on the ground floor, there is a strong musty smell so the room was unusable. Thankfully, the odor did not permeate the rest of the apartment. Guests should be able to climb two, narrow circular staircases with luggage. The carpet on the staircase leading up to and throughout the third floor is quite stained and worn. Although not uncommon, guests should know that the toilet is on the second floor with shower, tub and bedrooms on the third floor. All in all, the apartment was serviceable but a little updating would make this quite a nice place.

First to repeat and reinforce the comments of other reviewers, Sabine was an excellent and responsive host, the town house was exactly as pictured, everything was in proper condition and working order and the location was within two blocks of a well-stocked grocery store.
Two points worth noting, it is 1.4k from the station so those w/ heavy wheelie luggage may prefer a taxi or a bus for which Sabine included directions and, as other reviewers indicated, the narrow staircases (two sets from the ground to the living area and to the bedrooms) could present a problem for some.
As for our personal experience, our five night stay wasn't long enough as Leiden has more than enough diversions to keep one busy and the house was perfectly located for walking to cafes and tourist sites . The purpose of our stay was a break in a bicycle tour and Leiden proved to be centrally located for day rides to Gouda, Haarlem, Utrecht, Delft, Keukenhof & the surrounding bulb fields. For those less incline to bicycle all of these locations were easily accessible by rail except for Keukenhof for which there is a twice hourly bus. Rail could also be used to make any of the day rides one way.
While we enjoyed all the cafes we ate at two nearby favorites were the de Bonte Koe (great vegi burger and beer selection) and the eetcafe de Hooykist for substantial well-prepared dishes and character.
Leiden and Sabine's home are are high on our short list for return holidays.

We had a lovely stay, a shame we were only there for 2 nights to look at the university. The Apartment was great, right in the centre, within walking distance of virtually everything. A really good base. Comfortable beds and space. It was kind of Sabine and Martin to meet us and to provide the basics that helped as we arrived quite late. Just some advice book a restaurant for the evening as we didn't and we found it difficult to find somewhere on a Friday night.

We were very comfortable in the apartment. The vicinity had grocery store, restaurants and shopping. There is a bus around the corner and canals all around for seeing the lovely boats, ships and houseboats. Overall, a great place to stay and enjoy Leiden.

Excellent location, and nice living room and kitchen, good for couple with children.
A good property and great location to see Leiden. Grocery store (Albert Heijn) easy walking distance and we found parking the car there was cheap and easy. Living room is cozy and comfortable and looks over quiet part of Harlemmerstraat, and given that car access is possible until 11 am and in evening, dropping off luggage, and loading car after stay was easy, even though otherwise it is a pedestrian street. All aspects of apartment adequate, although some reading lights in second bedroom and a mirror in second bedroom would have made it more suitable for four adults (which we were). Ideal for couple or couple with children.

We rented the apartment in Leiden for 2 weeks in late April/early May in 2016.
The apartment is clean and very spacious, with a living room area and kitchen on one floor and 2 bedrooms + shower on the upper floor. One bedroom has a double bed and the other 2 single beds. All necessary items were on hand (washer, dryer, dishwasher, utensils, gas stove), and working well. The stairway from the ground floor entry to the living room area is narrow as it circular; this is also the case for the the stairway to the bedrooms. For someone with walking/balance difficulty these stairways might be difficult to negotiate.
The apartment is located very centrally, at the end of the main shopping street in Leiden, and is extremely convenient to an excellent grocery store (AH or Albert Heijn, a 2-3 min walk). The train station is about a 15 min walk, with trains to almost anywhere in the Netherlands every 15 or 30 min. Leiden itself is a miniature of Amsterdam in some respects, with many waterways, boat tours and museums. Travel from Schiphol airport, via frequent trains is easy and quick (15-20min).
During the rental process we interacted with Sabine on a number of occasions. We were impressed by her prompt responses and sorting out a minor issue with our booking of the apartment. On arrival we were met at the apartment by Sabine. She was very friendly and helpful, and speaks excellent English. She also returned about an hour later to sort out a couple of minor issues re the internet (new password) and TV. During our stay there was no need for any other communications, as no problems developed.
All in all we were very satisfied with the apartment and would definitely consider renting again in the future

What a great find this apartment was, in a safe, pedestrian street, minutes walk to shops, restaurants and a supermarket, not to mention the beautiful canals. We found it just as cheap for a group of 4 to arrive by taxi For €10 as the bus is €2 each and we were not sure of location. Once at the accommodation walking or nearby bike rentals for €7.50 for the day was all that was needed. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom had plenty of towels. The owners were very helpful and friendly, would stay again if I come back to Leiden.
