About this cottage rental
This converted detached holiday cottage stands in a quiet rural location on the edge of the National Park. It is an idyllic setting, enjoying peace and quiet with only the sound of the nearby stream. It really makes a wonderful home from which to walk direct from the front door in the surrounding countryside. The Dales and the Lakes are both readily accessible, the market town of High Bentham is only 1.5 miles whilst Kirkby Lonsdale with its lovely selection of individual shops (ranging from antiques to designer clothes and jewellery) is 8 miles. Ingleton and its caves are 5 miles. Alternatively dine alfresco and take in the view and the tranquillity. Also within easy reach of the Three Peaks. Shop and pub 1.5 miles.
Please see ebay for last minute deals or special rates. We provide bed linenand towels and two easy start logs. Clients are asked to bring their own logs etc if they wish to use the log burner.

The cottage was small but also seemed spacious. Lots of light and the garden surrounding the cottage was nice, with wildlife coming and going. A bit in the middle of nowhere but good to just relax.

Such a lovely wee cottage, perfect for our stay, equips with everything we needed. A great base for walks and a visit to the nearby White Scar cave. Lovely to see the birds on the feeders from the window and the little lambs in the fields x

Would I return? YES
Would I recommend to family and friends? YES
I loved my short stay at the cottage with my pups. Perks were:
* the remote location - the babbling brook at the end of the garden was the most peaceful sound. Just wish I was able to enjoy the garden more, but visiting in winter meant my time at the property was spent indoors. Which leads me to:
* log burning fireplace - with the addition of the starter logs to get you going. It made the cottage so cosy and warm.
* basket of doggy things - blankets, towels and treats, which were a welcome addition.
* secure garden - although the owner does state it is not 100% secure, my small pugs did fine and were safe the whole time.
Things to consider:
* the bathroom is very small. Advert indicates a shower room but not so much the size. Anyone over 5'10" might struggle to sit on the toilet without bashing knees on the opposite wall! For a short stay, it was perfectly acceptable.
* no welcome package - despite there being a picture on the listing of a bottle of Cava and some treats to welcome you on your stay, there was nothing in the cottage on arrival.
* no kitchen pantry essentials - the kitchen was kitted out with all the equipment needed for cooking and eating, however there was not a single pantry item, like tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt, pepper etc. I wouldn't have minded there not being these things if it was made apparent in the listing, but future renters be mindful to bring these things with you.

Always a pleasure to return to this home from home cottage, where time stands still in the peace and quiet. So much to see and do on the doorstep, or just sit and watch the local wildlife visit the garden.

Property is lovely and quiet, spotless, great secure plenty of little spots to sit in the garden. The only fault is the shower room/toilet far to small not good for the less mobile people. Having said that it was still a great couple of nights.

Picturesque property, homely & cozy feel, bit of a challenge getting on and off the loo but other than that perfect, bird feeder nice touch outside the kitchen window saw lots if different birds
Excellent location, right on the doorstep to so many walks - loved the remoteness and listening to the tweeting birds, trickling nearby stream and waking upto the hairy cows mooing

Beware toilet, it’s a tight squeeze but I other than that it’s in a great area with plenty of places to visit

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, i only wish we had more time to stay longer ,we had some rain whilst we were there but still managed to relax in the garden and watch all kinds of wildlife wander threw ,and a big bonus was how secure the garden is i have two boston terriers ,they a bit like sheep if theres a whole they'll find it,it was nice to not have to watch them constantly knowingthey were safe, the cottage is so lovely and cosy and has everything needed couldn't ask for more ,well be back soon thats for sure

The property is beautiful. There are lots of provisions if you fancy a spot of cleaning but no welcome pack despite the pic on Vrbo. The one day i was there motorbikes and vintage cars were going past all day and my dog was terrified. I chose this property for him because of the quiet location but unfortunately he wouldnt leave the cottage and hid behind the bed most of the time. When he did go in the garden he got bitten to death by midges. Again unfortunate and no-ones fault. I had intended to buy some bits from the co-op and a takeaway but i couldn’t leave my dog in the house or car in his state and the takeaway didn't deliver, and they only took cash. Of course I had only taken a card. In the end i drove us to a cashpoint where he could see me from the car and picked up a takeaway.!. Phew. Sorted. Except no coffee or tea but it's only 2 nights. On Monday morning i thought I'd sit on the patio with the weetabix i had taken along..thank goodness..but, alas it wasn't to be. I got up to find a man at the kitchen window using the hose. I wasn't dressed. ! Outside were lots more men with diggers, jackhammers and a radio making a hell of a racket and waiting for the cement mixer. So the gist of it is don't expect peace and quiet on a Sunday, or this week with workmen. Don't expect a welcome pack or any tea or coffee. Take absolutely everything you will need with you..including cash. Do expect a clean lovely cottage and lots of cleaning materials.

We had an amazing stay at the cottage, will definitely return, the only negative was the mattress not comfy but didn’t spoil our stay.

Beautiful, detached cottage. Compact and bijou, but perfect for a couple and has everything you need. The location is simply stunning:: set right by the river with hills in the distance, you can walk right from the doorstep. Plenty to see and do in the area - we had a lovely, restful break and hope to return again in the not too distant future!

We have just enjoyed 2 nights away in the cottage eith our dog Poppy. It's absolutely faultless. The location is remote enough to give you privacy yet only a 5 minute drive or 40 minute walk to the lovely village of High Bentham.
The cottage itself is spotless, has all the amenities you'd need and has a log burner for cosy nights in.
Would definitely recommend.

Lovely little cottage in the countryside but close enough to civilisation. Ideally located for both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
Very cosy once we got the log fire going. I recommend turning up with a sack of logs.
Forgot to pack teabags, it would have been nice to find a couple waiting.
All in all, excellent accommodation and good value.
