Breakfast was very basic. I had juice, a banana and a yogurt!
The TV was not working and I was so tired I didn’t call the office for a fix. I just said good night and went to bed

First off, I got there and NO ONE told me that it burnt down last month, so I wasted my time driving all the way to Guelph just to get told there not only was no room, BUT that it used to he a hotel for homeless people, that it burnt down because crack. When I got there the staff lied to me saying that he tried to call me but there was no call, in fact I have an email from them. I asked if I coukd check in around 8pm and they emailed me back stating, that check in was any time after 3. That was 4 days before my check in date. It was such a WASTE of time and I am so glad that I didnt pay up front.

I showed at up 3 p.m. to book in and had to call the reservation Clerk to find out how to gain access into the building which said it was at 95 Macdonell Street in Guelph because I found the doors locked and I was parked in front of the building. I was told I had to walk around the building on Carden St. After trying to get information from me I mentioned that I couldn't hear what she was saying and she aggressively removed her facial mask, made a huffy sighing noise while speaking rudely to me and said "I have to wear this you know!" and replaced her mask. I told her that I was sorry because it's difficult hearing sometimes and sounds like somebody is mumbling especially when we are behind a plastic shield 6' apart. I asked her if I could park on Carden street? She said no it was just for emergency vehicles only and I could park in the hotel's parking lot at the corner where I walked through. She asked me where I parked and I told her behind the building on Macdonell and she said you can't park there at night. I said "oh if I would have known that I would have parked in the lot before coming into the building instead of walking all around carrying my suitcases" She then told me that it was going to be $400+ to secure the room and I said that I received an email indicating a $200 security deposit was required upon check-in and that I would have to pay upon leaving the rental of the room and I then I would get the security deposit back if there was no damage. She said that Hotel establishments do not operate that way because people will leave without checking out therefore rental of the room and security deposit is required. I read aloud my email indicating just a security deposit is required and asked her after explaining that I'm waiting for my lawyer to call me to go pick up my cheque to deposit into my bank account and if she accepts U.S dollars? She rudely and exasperatedly stated that she doesn't know the U.S.

Nothing. Horrible experience
Everything. The air conditioner was extremely noisy.

The room was clean, fridge, microwave, very light.
Long term residents made me uncomfortable and I felt unsafe. Constant odour of cannabis. Run down property. Had just had a major fire (unbeknownst to me at booking). Police car in parking lot.

Comfortable bed, good company with the multiple spirits in the area.
The blood stains in the tub and the lack of breakfast when advertised as a continental.

The check-in clerk was friendly and efficient. The hotel was close to the G2G Rail Trail where we had just ridden our bicycles from Goderich to Guelph. Access to the hotel was easy from the Trail.
It was a hot and humid day. We arrived about 5pm after an 8 hour bicycle ride on the G2G Rail Trail and the a/c in the room was not on. It took until after midnight for the room to be a comfortable temperature. We had not been informed that there had been a recent fire at the property and a large portion of the building was not being used, so we were unable to move to a different room. This was the only ground floor room available so we were stuck with a loud, inefficient a/c unit with broken control buttons. The a/c unit had not been turned on prior to our arrival so the room was HOT and humid. Not a pleasant experience after an 8 hour bicycle ride when we walked into the room. It didn't cool off for HOURS. Very disappointed.

There is no breakfast and no compensation other than directions to McDonald's and Tim hortons . The ac works, the tv works , the sheets are clean and we were able to switch to a room with oarking in front.
The guy on the phone was a little gard to understand as english isn't his first kanguage but was nice enough once we arrived. The room floor has holes, the bathroom tiles are stained, the sink is cracked, the bathtub is stained, the tiles need cleaning and the room needed ventilation so we left the door open.
