The pool area was really nice and beautiful
There was a lot of false advertisement and old pictures of the hotel that weren’t up to date. They showed a jacuzzi in the picture but it wasn’t there. Also they showed the rooms with microwave and refrigerator but when we arrived we apparently had to request it ahead of time. The food we brought went bad because we had to wait another day for the refrigerator. They also showed paddle boats we could rent but no one was managing it. The restaurant that they showed in the picture was also abandoned. They were really short staffed and our rooms balcony was dirty.

Absolutely nothing
I arrived at this property to find it not only very dirty, in a state of great disrepair, but old , rundown and worn out. Everywhere we laid our eyes needed a wash cloth and fresh paint. There was not a speck of décor anywhere to be found. The big main fireplace in the lobby was no longer in use. Big sign at the check-in counter that said there was no jacuzzi allowed to be used anymore. When asking about the breakfast buffet, we were told that not only there is no more breakfast buffet, but there's not even a restaurant open in the entire place. When asking what time their other restaurant on the property is open until, the Oxhead Tavern, we were told that it had been closed for about 3 years, will probably not ever re-open, and is badly water damaged. Then we asked about the miniature golf.... We were told that it's been demolished and that at some time in the future, the possible plan might be for a ceremonial garden instead. Taking a look at where the mini golf/courtyard area used to be,it looks like a wasteland of gravel and gray dirt. As far as their private little lake area goes, no boats, no paddle boats, no nothing!!!
Checked into our room which was such a long long walk away. It was up on the 3rd floor in what seemed like an entirely different wing of the hotel. The ancient rug lining the walls of the elevator was filthy and disgusting with frayed edges everywhere. In fact all the rugs that we looked at and walked on were stained and looked like they were about fifty years old. Our room was a King with a sleep sofa and a balcony. The temperature was about fifty degrees when we walked into the room. Naturally, the 1st thing we did was turn on the heat which was still an antiquated, manual system. I opened the little door to the control panel and it fell right off onto the floor. Trying to make the best of it, we turned on the rest of the lights and prepared to get settled in.

Cozy old fashion style
Rooms need updating/bathroom
2.5 / 5.0
The location is extremely convenient for a visit to Old Sturbridge Village as well as restaurants to have a meal at. The view from our room was nice as well with a balcony looking towards the water.
The hotel is run down. It has so much potential but there hasn't been any attempt to do anything in awhile it seems. Outside our room there was a big hole in the ceiling. Inside the room the smoke detector was hanging from wires out of the ceiling, the sink in the bathroom was cracked, the drain in the tub was pulled out and sitting on the edge, the popcorn ceiling in the bedroom area was peeling or missing in big patches, and the mattress was an old spring one with a dip that left my back killing me in the morning.

Facility is under private ownership now, they are in the midst of remolding an older facility, lack of staff is really hurting them ,like a lot of companies these days. This is a great place with a lot of amenities.Given they are updating it,is an ongoing process.
No restaurant service, due to lack of staffing, rooms need attention, rugs, plumbing issues etc,Again a work in progress

Showers were hot. Keurig machine in lobby. K cups in vending machine. Brought my own. Allowed to swim in pool. Did not bring my bathing suit. Lovely view of Lake and birds eating berries of tree outside my window.
Did have to carry luggage a long way. Next time will wait for a trolley. No microwave or refrigerator in room, but you can rent them for an additional $10 dollars per appliance per night. They will bring them to your room. Ate my lobster stew cold.

The hotel is showing its age. Rust around the toilet. Black under the rim of the sink. no plug in the tub. Windows were hard to see thru. I giant white tent blocking our view of the lake.

The location of hotel was super convenient. There is many shops, stores and restaurants, close by and even in the hotel. The lake and flower garden outside was very beautiful
The ceiling was falling apart in the room, and because we were on the bottom floor with a room view facing in towards the pool, the room was very dark. Was unable to open curtains, without being able to see someone else or someone see in our room

The location was where we needed to be.
Upon arrival we found out that there was no gym there was no pool there was no spa as listed we had no refrigerator or microwave they charged just additional money to have microwave and refrigerator brought to the room.. We were told there was free breakfast one we're breakfast when we got here they told us it was $10 there is nothing available 1 vending machine that charges you $2.50 for a soda . The staff was rude. The rooms have no housekeeping Unless you stay 3 or more nights. You cannot control the temperature in the room. Please don't waste your time Or money coming here.

Stay was over all nice. Staff nice, rooms clean.
Upset that the pool was closed but hey I didn't ruin my night away with my husband and friends. The place just needs a little help maintenance wise

Nothing
In their page , they say that the pool is open but actually they just lie .And when you ask they , they just say sorry.
I have to canceled my stay over there , And after 100 calls with book.com , At list I took my money back for next days. And the employers just say sorry to you . If you want the frige you need to pay extra. And in plas even if you want to pay they don't have enough. Disappointed

location and general appearance was great
indoor pool closed. restaurant closed. outdated game room was closed for guest use due to a wedding. extremely noisy throughout hotel until we’ll after 10:00pm. manager took my number to see what he could do to make stay better, then never followed up. my son walked near where the wedding was going to be and a staff member was rude and degrading when yelling at him. stay away from this place.

Room was nice sized. It had a good view of the lake.
The receptionist was rude when checking in. Even though specified when booking my spouse would be staying in the room and not me, even though his name was listed as the guest the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. Also the receptionist while checking in said:
“to get to your room, go past the pool, make a right, your room is the third floor, don’t use the elevator and I’m too old to carry your stuff. So take your stuff up the stairs.”
The sheets were also grossly stained.
2.5 / 5.0
most of the hotel staff is extremely friendly
nothing is open. nothing. no food. no pool. no jacuzzi. the fitness room is nothing. the carpets are old. the walls are aged.
