- The bed was large and comfortable.
- The building is old, yet perfectly maintained and clean.
- Shower room had shampoo and shower gel.
- 15 minutes walking distance from Harvard station.
- Very hospitable and polite staff.
- AMAZING healthy breakfast. One can have oatmeal, bagels, tea, coffee, dried/fresh fruits, nuts, peanut butter, cheese, bacon, eggs, etc in almost unlimited quantities. They cook most of the baked stuff on-site and it is really tasty. Do not miss the breakfast if you stay here!
Somewhat nitpicking: I stayed on the ground floor. Close to the wall of my room there was a huge fan outside the building. At night I could hear the distinct noise from it. It didn't bother me much, but if you are a light sleeper it may make sense to send a request prior to your stay, not to be put in this room. I am pretty sure staff will do everything possible to accommodate for your needs. They are really nice people.

Wonderful location. We chose a room with its own bathroom and it was great. I wouldn’t go for shared bathroom facilities. The breakfast is fine, covers the basics but uninspiring. As an observation, not a complaint, we never met anyone who was the ‘face’ of Irving House as opposed to an employee seated offside to the main reception desk
This correctly presents itself as a local business which is one of the factors we liked but we never had any sense of the characters behind the business as opposed to pleasant office helpers who were all seated to the right of the front desk: the local’ was lost in admin humdrum

The room decoration was nice and there was variety of choices for complementary breakfast.
The rooms were not soundproof at all. The floors were rlly squeaky and would make weird sounds.

Way too expensive for facility

The hotel is like a rooming house from years long gone by. I had a room with a private bath, but many rooms had no bathrooms and used bathrooms accessible from the hallway which always looked clean. It is hard to fully describe, but I definitely had a nice experience and slept well every night

Breakfast was great.
Walking distance to subway, restaurants, meeting locations was great.
Room was cozy and clean.
Staff was friendly and afternoon cookies were yummy.
I would have loved a thermostat or on/off button in the room because the screen was intense and I got cold.

Breakfast spread was delicious! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I asked about the history of the building which dates back to the 1800's.

staffing 24/7 front desk is hugely beneficial to the all-hours traveler needing a place to sleep; exceptional light breakfast options

I liked the selection they had for breakfast. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
It would've been nice if they had an elevator, but it is an older property so it is understandable that they don't have one. Parking was a little tricky and I had to park down the street at another property that they allow parking at.

Thé breakfast adequate. Decent choices. Too bad about the coffee.
Staff very nice and helpful
Bathtub was dirty. Rooms not AT ALL soundproof. If you want to sleep late, tough luck!
Pillows terrible- hard as bricks.
Overall acceptable place a bit shabby but not at all chic

The
I would say the walls are a bit thin. I could hear the person in neighboring room, even though the person wasn’t being loud. I think it’s because the house is so old. Although the age of the house is part of its charm. I think sound burying insulation in the adjoining wall may help.

The hotel was good, it had parking (although kind of tight), the location was good, the staff was friendly, the value was good and in general it will be my to go place in Cambridge. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the breakfast was pretty good. Will be back.

incredible breakfast: organic milk, wonderful egg soufflés, excellent coffee, good quality fresh fruit! hot oatmeal with almonds and raisins! very close to our conference venue
we had a room on the fourth floor and the climb was hard for me! other rooms had old carpeting that should be removed in my view.

The location was okay-ish. Free parking in the backyard.
The room smelled odd and was indeed super tiny. The staff at breakfast was nice, the rest did not care too much.
The whole hotel was very worn off.
The price/value was very bad - that was the most frustrating point. For a few hundred dollars less, it would have been ok, but not at this price.
