My 1st impression was a low budget motel. However, the price was not. I got a kick out of the 50’s decor. It was fairly clean and comfortable. I did not eat there so I have no comment.

I started to notice that the room was not as clean as I thought. The mirror in the living area was filthy? Not a great impression. Lots of noisy cars and people outside my room at 3 pm. I did not sleep well.

Everything what was provided as their offered services. Especially the owner's behavior and ready to help nature!! Feels like a family member It's more than worth it..

Ok for one night's sleep

The bath and shower had a new surround, very clean. The rest of the place was nice enough.

No hair dryer. Nobody in the office to request one. To get privacy we had to hang a towel over the curtain rod where there was a gap where the window mounted a/c unit created a gap in the curtains.

A complete rip off, better off going camping.

Nice new floors and distance to Tobermory.

We DID NOT expect a lot, we just wanted a bed for a night before heading to Tobermory, our expectation was CLEAN SHEETS! The room at first glance is nice, as a housekeeping supervisor my first instinct is to expect and of course, check the state of the sheets. I was blow away with the amount of stains from the pillowcase all the way down to the pillow on all 3 pillows given! There were brown marks and discolouration of the sheets. Thank GOD I brought pillows and sheets just in case. The shower was clean but the rest of the bathroom was a little on the nastier side. Again I wasn’t asking for anything spectacular, just clean sheets. This accommodation is a rip off for $170/night. Let alone a death trap with the swinging ceiling fan on the last screw, mould building up, and broken bathroom tiles. Staff was not all that friendly upon checkout, she was on her phone and gave rude looks, just dropped my keys in the box.

Exceptional

I met Ana who is very welcoming. She told me that our room was recently refurbished which they did a great job.Ordered a meal from their restaurant and that was definately of good quality. Very clean room, peaceful place, lovely staff taking care of the property.

Adequate facilities for a low budget motel.

I would not recommend this hotel to people coming to visit.

There was no ice available , broken containers holding sugar and powdered creamer. Throw pillows that do not have covers that can be wasted between guests. Planters outside room were broken.

There could have been ice and updates to the room. There was a crack in the ceiling and the outside was a complete mess. Broken planters and generally unkept

Superb

The room was excellent very clean I think newly renovated. The outside of the building needed work. I am guessing they are relatively new owners and have been renovating but the outside made it look dumpy. Very nice couple when I registered friendly.

Very poor

I liked that the ATV trails were right behind us

Our sheets were stained ..the comforter was stained..the shower had no pressure ..our sugar for the coffee in the morning was brown from being wet or something .. there was a water bottle under the bed ..so clearly not thoroughly cleaned .

Clean comfortable and gracious hosts!

Great staff, large room with new flooring (wood look vinyl flooring), comfortable bed, fridge and microwave, flat screen TV with satellite TV channels. We used our laptop hooked up with our own HDMI cable and our own downloaded shows/movies along with some of the satellite channels. We stayed for six nights and visited surrounding attractions/communities and enjoyed the fall colours as well.

WIFI was only usable in the lobby and cell phone signal is poor inside the room. We knew this beforehand by reading the reviews and made due ok.

overall great quiet location, excellent customer service

the location, the view from the suite upstairs we were able to see some cows! the service, they were very accommodating even extended our check out and let us use the bbqs after a late check in, oh how could I forget bout the hammocks!! so much fun and relaxing and not too far from tobermory, the tub was big enough that I could take a bath :), the fireplace was really nice, the bed was so comfortable will definitely stay again as a stop along the way to bruce penisula

Fine for an overnight stay

I was in the area hiking, and was looking for something that was fairly close to areas like the Bruce Peninsula and Sauble to sleep for one night. The location is ideal for that. I felt the room rating on other sites (fair) is a bit more accurate. The staff were very polite. The room had a coffee maker/microwave/fridge that all were functional, which were really my only requirements. The rate was lower than most places anywhere in that area. If your needs are basic as mine were, you should be happy. The location is the number one pro by far, and what my rating is primarily based off of. I have stayed in other motels in the area that are worse and have higher rates. It's a tough spot to find lodging, especially during peak season.

I am not sure if the location has undergone new ownership, because a lot of the reviews don't seem to line up with what I saw. And as you can see from my "what did you like" my needs are pretty basic. The outside of the building is in rough shape, and doesn't match photos at all. This wouldn't have really been a big issue for me other than that there were cigarette butt cans and cigarette butts all around the outside door area of the room. Which as a non-smoker, is pretty gross. The room was fairly clean on the surface, but I don't feel it had had a really good cleaning in quite awhile. My TV also did not work well, which personally is not an issue because I only had it on to check the news. It could definitely be an issue for others though. If the WiFI works, I definitely wasn't able to get it to. I feel the price was a bit high for the calibre of room, but everything in the area is overpriced and most in the same price range are of a similar quality.

Comfortable clean stay

Very clean bathroom and bedroom. Appreciate the extra seating. Front desk staff is very friendly and included a microwave in the room for our convenience.

Smokers DON'T stay

Nothing

Smokers don't stay there. You don't have to smoke in the room and they will charge you for smoking outside. The air conditioner pulls the smoke inside.

the pictures on line don’t represent the reality

location was great

from the outside it looked very rundown and unkept. the beds were way too soft and sagging. we woke up with a sore back. the bathroom needs serious renovations. For nearly $250/night we expected much more.

Pleasant the beds were comfy.

Location was good. It was nice to see materials which Could be borrowed to use ex. Board games, balls etc. Also noticed there were some hammocks, barbecue and a fire pit which could 've used as well.

Shenstone Review - Wiarton

Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, quiet, and Ana and Jay were very helpful and friendly! It was a very good location, central to all locations along the peninsula. We initially looked for accommodation in Tobermory, but are so glad we stayed in Wiarton at Shenstone as it was a much better jumping off point for all other sights in the area. Will definitely stay at the Shenstone again!

The only thing is the wifi signal. Pretty much non-existent unless your room is beside the office. But the cell signal on the entire peninsula is mediocre (at best). Having said that, it was actually nice to unplug for a few days.

Very disappointed in what was available amenities for cost $540.00.for 2 nights totally outrageous

No breakfast, no ice

For the price we were charged it was ridiculous as there is no internet and T.V has 1 station channel 3 which is probably on a loop as it was same program different episode that played one after another will never stay there again price ridiculous for amenities .I can get better value in Niagara on the Lake with enitors Internet and T.v.stations Don't know who wrote the ratings but definitely.way off would not recommend
