Not much.
DO NOT stay here until they complete renovations. My wife woke up to drilling on the first floor. When she called the front desk, they claimed there was no drilling. Only after my wife held the phone up to the noise did the front desk admit to the drilling. Paint cans are strewn about the hallway as well. The shower would not turn off and required maintenance to disassemble the shower handle. Again, when I called to ask what was going on, the front desk attendant lied and said there was no maintenance problem. Really? Because maintenance was in the room as I was speaking to her. I really didn't appreciate her flippant attitude.
I really wish Hampton in would have advised me of their ongoing renovation project as I would not have made the reservation.

Walkable to the UVA campus.
The property was under major construction. If we had known this, we would not have stayed here. They should warn you about this before you commit and offer a discount. Learning this critical fact at the moment you show up (and after you have paid full value) was incredibly annoying, to say the least. If I did not already have good experiences with Hampton Inn at other locations, they would have lost a future customer.

Close to my event
Could not watch tv at all on Tuesday due to issues with network and channels, receptionist told me when checking in but I was hoping to watch at least one channel of something. Instead was in room listening to all the construction until 6 when i left for my event.

Location & comfort
That you can’t cancel without loosing your money. People can have emergencies & this is the first time in all our years of travel to have this cancellation policy.

The breakfast was the main disappointment for my group of 3 friends. Very few choices and lackluster attitude by the staff person.
But the housekeeping staff was very pleasant to deal with.

The staff was really friendly.
We chose the property because it was a good value for the location. But with taxes and hidden fees, like an additional $10 for parking that was supposed to be included, it ended up being pretty expensive. We’re unlikely to stay there next time.

Breakfast was great. My sons enjoyed making waffles. Location was great for walking to UVA and to dinner.

Natalie the person on duty when we arrived was very welcoming and helpful. Likewise, Comie (spelling?) the shuttle driver was pleasant and helpful.
Very noisy - sounds of flushing, water running all night. When the train passed on the nearby tracks at 3:30AM the lights in our room flashed on and off in rhythm with train wheels until the train passed -- 15 minutes.

very clean, great amenities, very close to dining, shopping & Paramount Theater, convenient free shuttle
front desk staff was a bit occupied with seemingly “non-work” activities, but they were friendly & accommodating….our room phone was broken (receiver cord was damaged/broken) which we consider a safety issue, yet maintenance staff didn’t care & did not fix claiming “whole phone or main line would need to be rewired”…we could tell it just needed a new “plug-in type” receiver (handset to phone base) connection wire…it was not fixed during our stay

I like the reception lady she was very friendly and I should check out at 12 pm, but I was tired and I did not wake-up until 2 pm the front reception lady was very friendly and she told me that 2 hours late in check out will not charge me for.
My room was front of the storage room and in the morning I was woken twice because of the staff working there. My room's blanket smells bad. And the bed has bad smells.

The water was collecting in the sink and ot was not draining properly. Since I was only staying for one night, I didn't want to bother to call to be fixed. But it was really disappointing to have a clogged sink!!!
