Location and grounds. History . Outdoor access to room and can pull up to room
Neighbors were smoking pot, constant smell,
Spider came down from ceiling when I was sleeping , air conditioning didn’t work, they hung my key on the door- no greeting. Pot holes filled with water, broken toliet among other trash next to building. Furniture broke and should be thrown out. Wasn’t comfortable to try any out door furniture out because I was afraid to get hurt.

This hotel had lots of charm! I loved the homemade quilts, wall paper and actual key entry doors.
We got off to a rough start. When navigating, first of all there are several locations on google and you have to specifically enter, "'THE' 1896 House" or you'll stop short by about a mile.
Secondly, when I tried to call with the phone number listed on Google we got a disconnected number alert. After finding a different number, no one answered the phone. It's a small-town hotel, so the staff leave late morning and return mid-afternoon and there's no one to assist you if you need it. We got a call-back but after the navigation snafu and out of service number it left us worried about whether this was a legitimate business.
Finally, there were ants.
Overall it was for just one night and we stayed, but I can't say that I would return now that I've seen the town and other options, especially for the price.

Location was close to Williams College and they allowed pets .
Sooooo outdated ! Online photos do no reflect the property - not one photo was accurate . No tv remote , no ice , needed to ask for soap , shampoo , towels and toilet paper . Pool not in working order for a loooong time . Looked out window to see trash stacked against building . Grounds so overgrown you couldn’t see a pond .
Tiny fridge ,Flat pillows , worn comforter, carpet - gross, bathroom shelves falling off wall . Photos should match actual property . Way too expensive for indoor camping experience.

My spouse and I have stayed here three nights now. The first time we stayed, it was for 2 nights. Our room was great; without any hassle, it was neat and clean, simple, comfortable and cozy, quiet and peaceful, and offered a great price point. Our third stay here, has been pretty relaxing 😊. I plan on coming back to stay anytime I want/need a hotel room in the area and I would definitely suggest a stay at The 1896 House Country Inn.
The dirt road, leading to the office, could be filled and raked in. The little dirt road itself is rustic and adds charm (just as well as the little brook/creek) ,so it just needs to be preserved. The landscape could use a little TLC as well, nothing too major.

There was nothing to like about the property
The Inn is not really an in but more a motor lodge and is old and has not aged well. Broken windows, sticky doors, extension chords, wallpaper falling off, broken shades, missing remote are a few of the issues. The websites advertised breakfast but they do not offer it.

Very disappointed by Corrine and her lack of customer service and lack of a return call after I submitted an email.
I am a multiple time a year visitor and I will not go babk untill I get a call.
Managent also failed to call me back.
My advice is to check in after 9 pm to avoid this toxic person at the check In.
She needs Training In customer service or be removed to the back of the house. Clearly she should not be interacting with your customers.
Electrical outlets are unsafe and prone to fire.
Josh the manager was also unprofessional and dismissed my complaint and my phone call 3 days later. This hotel does not deserve your buissess. Go to the Williamstown Motel amd see Rocky.

It was a very charming, if older, property. The price was very reasonable, check-in and out was smooth and quick. The restaurant was very good, and we received a discount coupon at check-in. The area is beautiful.
It could be updated a bit, and cleaned a bit better - corners and such needed a little attention.

It’s a beautiful part of the world.
Dirty. Like, very little attention to detail. Food scraps, moths, leaves, kids toys under the bed. Bathroom trash from the guests before. It was a surprisingly hot day for early November and are room was sitting at 78 degrees at arrival. Tried the A/C and nothing. Went to the office to mention the A/C and got nothing from the exchange. Asked if they had a fan for the room and was told that they’d already been packed up for the season and wouldn’t know where to look. Left with a “try opening the window’s cause it’s supposed to cool off later” as a solution from the front desk. Back at the room realized the windows didn’t have screens and were riddled with dead moths and spiders on the sill. The bathroom window was jammed and wouldn’t budge. This was possibly the worst of the worst as far as overnights I’ve had and I’m pretty good with roughing it. When I went back to the office to discuss the shortcomings they were away for the evening and when we left the next morning at 6:30 am there was still no presence. Would have loved to discuss this with the business itself but they didn’t seem to care.

Room was neat and clean. We thought we were scheduled at the other location, not pondside.
Room was quite musty on arrival, had to air out the room. Fresh air helped.

A beautiful setting and clean sheets
We booked this place beacause of their breakfast rating. Well it turned out they had no breakfast available at all.
The room was kind of retro cute, but you could see it was outdated and not really taken care of. The bathroom ceiling was full of mold and the sink didn't drain properly.
Also the restaurant was like a time trip back to the 1980's. Not bad with the decor, but the food reminded us of awful childhood memories.

Nothing to like here.
This place is a dump. The bathroom floor was filthy and the tub faucet had a continuous stream of water that could not be stopped. No convenient electrical outlets. Beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom towel rack missing. A lot of mold on the bathroom floor. Pictures online don’t accurately reflect the poor property.

Has a restaurant next to it, the quality is good
Bathroom drain is very slow. Also on the second night one of the glasses cover on the door suddenly vanished. We did not lose any valuables but perhaps someone tried to break in.

The inn is right on route seven, but the room was far enough from the road that it was quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed the brook and the comfortable seats outside each room.
We stayed two nights. The beds were made up after the first night, but the coffee supplies and shampoo were not replenished. The next morning, I was unable to reach the staff to request coffee cups before we left at almost nine am

The location was the only thing we liked. There was nothing that we liked at this property except the pub.
Arrived to the motel about 9:30.pm After a 12 hour trip we were tired and just wanted to check in. This is when the adventure started. The lights were out on the sign. You could not see it in the Berkshire darkness. We went to the restaurant and asked for assistance. They were helpful. There are two locations Pondside and Brookside. We stopped at Brookside and still lights are out on this sign also. With our Room 17 search and found all the rooms in the 100's. Call politely to the number given and left a message marked Urgent and we needed some assistance. This was two weeks ago and we are still waiting for a call back. We could go somewhere else but there was nothing available. Finally found the room down the road, again the light on the sign were not working. The lock was backwards we finally got it to work. Opened the door and was surprised we were not sure this was right. The photos show something absolutely different. The air condoning did not work. Beds were ok but sub standard for the price. No curtains on the windows but shades that were replacements and were cut with scissors. Was kinda funny but was sad. Jagged cuts got the job done. The bathroom had the tiniest sliver of soap. I didn't know they could package such a small soap. The pool had been sadly neglected for a long time. TV had no signal. I have reached out to the hotel after our return home and the lady at the desk was lovely and was going to have the manager call me. I wanted to go over this before I submitted. Still waiting for a call.
We are small business owners and realize the struggle we all have. This was not a good experience. The Pub was good. The only redeeming grace. Looks like they are struggling and not interested in trying to put their best foot forward.

Close to where we had the golf tournament
I asked twice to have trash dumped and towels picked up. I finally just put trash and dirty towels outside my room.
