not much
arrived about 4:30pm to check in. We were then going to drive to Glenwood Springs for a soak in their hot springs. No elevator I assume because it was only a 2 story. The lady at the sign in area apologized because she was training and couldn't finish checking us in. I mentioned that I'd paid online, which she knew. She said the manager would be right back. 15 minutes went by, no manager. I asked if he was a smoker, she replied no he wasn't. Finally, she decided she'd go ahead and do up the plastic card keys to the room. I went up the stairs to check out the room, and I immediately noticed the door had the door held open with the latch. I opened the door and found the beds hadn't been made, the room wasn't even ready. I went back down and told the lady I wasn't happy. Still no manager, and I'd been there 25 minutes. I left. Never saw the manager. Came back about 8:45pm after dinner in Glenwood Springs. Room was okay. In the morning, I attempted to take a shower and the handle just spun left and right. I tried pulling the handle out, but nothing. Gave up. We packed up, went down to eat breakfast at about 9:00am and asked if the manager was around. The young man said he'd be there at 10am. I mentioned the shower, and he said, "all you had to do was pull the handle out from the wall to get water. I said if that were the case, guests should have instructions there. I told him I was not blaming him about 3 times, but that as a former BBB President & CEO I know how to write a bad review and to expect one. I also said they should make a full refund to me for our troubles.

The breakfast consisted of 2 cereals, bagels, muffins, activa yogurt, eggs, sausage links, pancakes and juices, fruit. Nice not having to go out for breakfast.
Several office type chairs were badly peeling and needed to be replaced.

Everything as expected or better. Large selection of breakfast items, all ready to eat at 6am or before. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Bed was comfortable.

The location was perfect for my needs. I had a trail run the next morning that was 30 minutes away. The room was large and clean. I was on the 2nd floor and the noise level was minimal, even with a family of 7 next door.
That they could make an exception and let you check in early, especially since it would have only been 30 minutes. But instead there was an additional fee if I did that. So I didn't. I merely occupied my time with something else. The staff was great (in person). The drawback is that there is a kiosk that asks you to check in or out via. And the computer cuts out and the sound is so low that it's hard to understand what the person is asking you. Definitely not a fan of checking in or out in that manner. What happened to human being customer service?!?

The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the breakfast decent for a continental breakfast.
The room was in dire need of an upgrade. The walls need to be painted. Furniture was old. Lights/lamps need to be available on each side of the bed. The phone handset rattled and clunked inside and you could barely hear the front desk rep. There was no shower curtain hung by the tub. We had to call the front desk to request one and then had to put it up ourselves.

It was a beautiful setting
The worst thing was the location to train tracks. Every two hours it felt like a train was coming through your room
This place is in the middle of remodel. The pool had patches all on the bottom of it.
The staff was ok not super friendly
Not alot of places to eat around the hotel.

More comfortable beds would be great. But staff was nice. Housekeeping ladies were AMAZING!

Nothing
Room smelled like vomit. Wasn’t a live person, it was a virtual check-in and we could barely understand her. Claimed our debit card hadn’t paid for the room….but it had. A maintenance man literally opened our room with a key card at midnight while we were in bed. Said “sorry, I’m in the wrong room”. Maid was knocking on the door at 8am to clean when checkout wasn’t until 11:00.

My room and the lobby area was clean.
It was run down. I thought it was an abandoned property when I first arrived.

More affordable then staying in Glenwood Springs and easy access to the highway. The morning breakfast was a pleasant surprise and had some good things like donuts and little noosa yogurts. But the good stuff went very quickly and never seemed to get restocked while we were there.
When we 1st arrived we were put in two rooms on the 1st floor. One room had a plastic bag tied over the fire detector and the whole room smelled strongly of Pot. The room right across the hall had the fire detector pulled out of the ceiling and was just hanging from its wires. They were able to to move us to rooms upstairs that were across from each other that were better but I was still concerned about what if there was a fire in those rooms the rest of the night. There were also very weird black and white pictures of different cats taped to certain doors that was just odd.

Nice location. Older, but well maintained.
Need better breakfast. Just eggs potatoes toast would have been great!

The place was clean.
No staff on site until 3:00 pm. I was promised early check-in but was no one on the front counter till 3:00. Breakfast was very cheap. No one to help. I am Celiac and was nothing but pastries.

Clean, spacious room. Easy to get to off the freeway
Everything was fine

Breakfast had limited items compared to other Wingates. They no longer have coffee pots in the room. I did get coffee the night before from the breakfast area to reheat in the morning. The staff was excellent. Older hotel but our room was clean.

The bed was comfortable and it was fairly clean.
The check in was very annoying. The machine kept freezing and I had to get 3! THREE keycards for my room and none of them worked! Eventually they just swapped me into a different room but that was very irritating. Having a computer to talk to instead of a receptionist was not ideal. I didn’t like that part at all.

Decent location and availability for our stay.
The breakfast was frozen waffles and sandwiches out of a box so that was disappointing.
Someone in a room near us had music playing loudly throughout the night so we didn’t get much sleep.
The pool area had hair all over the floor like it hadn’t been cleaned.

There was trash stacked at the entrance, landscaping was unkept weeds and the property looked like it was closed when we arrived. My wife tried to use the restroom while I waited to checked in and the smell in the restroom made her sick. I checked the restroom and it smelled like the sewer had backed up. We refused to stay and canceled our reservation. I included a photo of the trash by the entrance when we arrived, more trash was stacked by the entrance before we had left. We have stayed at Wyndham properties before and assumed Wingate by Wyndham was a Wyndham property as listed on our reservation. The property is The Lodge at New Castle with the same phone number as the "Wingate by Wyndham". Two other couples were at the property on May 20, 2023 about 3:00 pm one with a reservation and one planning to stay but they also refused to stay. It appears the property is under new management with a new name and is doing a great disservice to the Wyndham name.

- Delicious breakfast - e.g., also offering breakfast muffins (to microwave)
- Friendly staff, warm welcome; 24 hour check-in also possible via machine
- Hot tub and pool
- good location, close to highway
- spacious and clean rooms
- we had slight difficulties with the shower (maybe a sign explaining would help?) :D but the staff is extremely friendly and explained how they work (you have to pull quite hard)

Clean, convenient location, friendly staff, good price.
Breakfast was lacking, hard donuts, minimal selection. Great coffee though 👌
Neighboring room had a barking dog all night.
3.0 / 5.0
Easy access; the bed was comfortable.
There was no one there when I checked out to get a receipt. I have tried calling the property but the message times out and/or the phone is never picked up. Public areas are a bit tired and could use an upgrade

Breakfast was not good, only small options, no hot breakfast
The pool was dirty with a lot of mosquitoes we had to net out ourselves. Hot tub was filled too high, the airflow for jets were blocked so they had little to no power.

Very convenient location. Nice, updated room!
I liked it all- especially for the price. Very reasonable!
