It is a charming hotel. It sits on the waterfront just across from where you would get the ferry to go to Cumberland Island. Has a great restaurant and the vibe is wonderful.

Interesting historic hotel right downtown. Inexpensive for one quick stop over while traveling through.
Thought my room had a terrace with a view of the river but the terrace was just a door that went out to the side rooftop. The fitted sheet on one of the beds had stains. I don’t think it was dirty, but slept on the other bed just in case.

Great location with great view of the river. Very friendly staff. Room very comfortable. Nice old-fashioned hotel. Enjoyed light breakfast in morning.
Restaurant on property was closed so only in-site food available was from Saloon which was very limited.

I loved the location and the helpful and courteous staff.
I didn’t like not having a place to put my toiletries in the bathroom.

We stayed here in preparation for a trip to Cumberland Island the following day. The location is excellent, right across the street from the check-in and departure point, and parking was adjacent as well. The property is a nicely kept “period style” building, stairs to the 2nd floor rooms. the rooms were adequately furnished and especially clean and tidy. Overall, features were adequate in our room, with attached bath. However, the bed was a disappointment: it was a queen in a room that could have accommodated a king or double twins, and it’s firmness was such that as one person turned over, the other got the bounces. Maybe they can upgrade to newer beds from Hyatt. Despite the bed, we might have rested better had the bar downstairs not had VERY LOUD Country Western live music until 11PM (after a report from staff that they’d be over by 10).
Overall the staff was helpful and attentive. The adjoining restaurant had excellent dinner offerings at reasonable prices. The hotel arranged for adequate sack lunches the next morning for our trip to the Island, but the “Continental breakfast” was minimal and somewhat disappointing, and wasn’t helped by the fact that there was very limited seating suitable to sit to eat. “If I knew then…” we would probably choose to stay someplace else within reasonable driving distance of the Cumberland Island departure point. This place would do in a pinch.

Breakfast was a packaged bagel
The noise in tbe room from the bar made it impossible to sleep

We thought the staff was nice. The rooms were very nice and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed the location to walk around to several different restaurants. The music next door was fun.
The music next door lasted until 10:30pm some nights. On Sat it lasted until 11pm. If this is not your thing, get a room on the River side.

The hotel was convenient with on street parking just a few steps from the front door. Great views of the river. Coffee was available all the times I wanted it(am and pm). St Mary's is away from the hustle and noise of Jax, but close enough to run down the interstate.

room was tiny …bathroom sink had no countertops/ space

Perfect location in front of the ferry to Cumberland Island, great staff, nice bar downstairs.
It's an older hotel, so rooms are smaller, especially if you put in a second bed for a third guest. But as long as you know what to expect, you'll have a great stay.

The location. Walking distance to everything.

Staff were phenomenal. We were getting married on the water, and they took great care in welcoming our family and making sure we had what we needed.
it’s a historic building… it’s like going back in time. very clean and neat. it’s not your new 5 star inn, but it feels like home!

Went with Booking.com for a better price. What I got was a room over the bar open until 2 AM I have stayed at Riverview many times worst room I ever had.
Booking saved me a few dollars, not worth it. Music stopped at 10;30 but noise until 2 AM

The bathroom was updated nicely; It is a historic place and beside the water . But for my taste I won't be staying again. I don't like the feel of oldness. The room was kept period, a little spooky
The room was extremely damp and cold feeling and it was difficult to get warm. I stayed on a rainy night and it's beside water. I shivered most of the night because of that, and woke with a fever.

The charm was really on 10 it was nice. The water views with the outdoor upper level picture perfect.
There was no iron on the room and the sink was in the bedroom

George and Brenda at front desk were outstanding, wait staff and bartenders were the best. Food was also the best. A safe place and great location. I will stay again, perhaps a better room rate? Thanks
Music at night under my room.

Location was perfect. Missed having close availability for breakfast...more than bagal or danish.
Musty smell in the building (typical for historic building). Bathroom needs safety grab bars in shower. Touch up painting on molding.

Put drapes in the rooms off the porch? To bright

Need anti-skid strips in the tub or install grab bars as tub is deep and slippery.
