The property was spotless, well-equipped, and comfortable in a fabulous location. The apartment terrace was great for eating and relaxing, with a sunny aspect. The swimming pool and cafe were a great bonus. The area has beautiful beaches, a pretty town, friendly bars, and cafes. A great holiday!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was larger than we expected, well equipped, with a lovely terrace where we enjoyed eating breakfast every day, and a couple of evening meals. George, local concierge, did a great job and was very responsive - check in was really easy and he sorted the one issue we had during our stay very quickly. The apartment is really well located: half-way between the main beach and the town, less than ten minutes walk to both. Shared pool is 20m from the apartment - it was clean and never too busy, with plenty of sun loungers. We enjoyed the town of Ferragudo a lot - it's very pretty, with enough restaurants and bars to make the nightlife interesting but not at all rowdy. Overall a really great place - highly recommended.

Highly recommend Ferragudo as Algarve base - very authentic fishing village, less touristy than many. Unit is well located and a good size and reasonably outfitted - except outside furniture needs replacing (at a minimum, should be cleaned before arrival) and linens are worn out.

Wonderful stay, spacious apartment, a bit dated but the location close to the beach makes up for that

The home was perfect to get away, close to everything. Very convenient, and clean. Very big and I'd definitely book to stay here again.

The terrace was great with a lovely view. 20m from the pool. Location was ideal for visiting many breaches and taking a trip to Silves. George, the property manager, was very helpful. I hope we can come back!

The apartment was spotless, very well equipped and comfortable in a fabulous location. We had a warm welcome and felt immediately at home. The apartment terrace was just great - a place to eat and read - with a fantastic sunny aspect. The little swimming pool and cafe is a great bonus. Ferragudo has two great south facing beaches and an awesome castle. The estuary and sea is safe and clean for swimming. It is a pretty town with plenty of friendly bars and cafes. We did lots of cliff walking and exploring. So beautiful. Great holiday. Thank you.

This could be a fabulous apartment, it is large and the upstairs is bright and sunny, the location is quiet, pretty and convenient. The terrace is large and has a nice view. Margaret and Peter are super helpful and informative, and very kindly let us check in early, and organised our airport transfer. Ferragudo is a pretty place, easy to stay here without a car.
Then apartment is just unloved, dated, poor standard of cleanliness, terrace with dead plants, awkwardly placed very large pots, poor quality furniture, needs another brolly to enjoy the loungers, very old bed linen, threadbare towels, shower in ensuIte needs replacing, as water just comes out the middle in a single stream and cubicle leaks. We only used that shower and the downstairs loo. We used the twin bedroom, we couldn’t open the doors to the terrace as they were double locked and we didn’t know where the keys were. The dvd does not work sticks terribly, it rained for one day ..and we were unable to even watch a dvd...we tried several of the available selection. We didn’t cook, just tea, coffee toast didn’t use the kettle as the spout on the inside had rust on it. Note that no cleaning took place during our 12night stay...so we cleaned ourselves.

We have just returned from a great trip to Ferragudo saying in Peter's lovely house. House had lots of space and we particularly enjoyed the lovely terrace. Swimming pool is close by and lots of restaurants and the beach in easy walking distance. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Big thank you to Peter for being so accommodating and moving our booking during covid plus answering my many queries. We hope to return.

The check in procedure was a key under the mat!
The Property Manager (George) did not reply to the message we sent before we left - we got him on the phone on the way to the property when he told us the key was under the mat.
He came out to see us the following morning when we had called him regarding the poor plant pots on the terrace which were dried out and he hosed down the terrace.
He gave us some recommendations of places to walk to for restaurants.
We thought the area was pleasant and enjoyed the pool.

Lovely Ferragudo
The property is older but well maintained, with a large terrace. Not sure if it was the time of year (winter), but we had to empty the de-humidifier daily to prevent dampness. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen with a good supply of baking dishes, pots and pans. The location is perfect for a walk to the village square for a meal or beverage, or to the cliffs to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Ferragoodo!
The property literally had everything we needed.
If we are going to be picky, we'd say that it is a little dated and in order to cater for 2020 visitors should have a few more 'mod-cons'.
we enjoyed our visit and this wouldn't put us off returning in the future. many thanks

3-day at Vila Castello
The property was very nice and even though the property manager never showed up, called, or texted, we found the key under the door mat and were able to get inside. We had a great time. The location is outstanding. As a suggestion, a property book explaining the AC, WIFI, location for trash disposal, etc. would be nice.

Fantastic location
We had a wonderful restful week at Ferragudo. The accommodation is next to the pool and close to the beach and village.
We loved using the upper sun terrace and did yoga every morning on the lower terrace!

Apartment in Ferragudo
First impression is always important and as soon as George showed us the expansive terrace we knew this was good.
Decent size rooms which included a walk in shower downstairs was also a positive and we enjoyed our stay here throughout.
Minor point , no cleaner came during our 8 day stay which would have made it perfect.

Beautiful Apartment in Beautiful Location
I just loved this apartment, the complex has a positive vibe about it and blends in well with the surrounding area.
We have just returned after a 7 night stay and loved everything about it, Ferragudo is a lovely place to relax, there are many beaches and other places to view within walking distance from the apartment.
The apartment it’s self is well equipped with everything you require to enjoy your stay, I would definitely return to Ferragudo and this apartment next year

Spacious and private with a great location
The 2 storey apartment has its own large terrace and is in a great location. Walkable to the beach one way and the old town the other way. Plenty of restaurants to choose from: Vietnamese, Indian, Italian, Spanish, Portugese, fish restaurants by the harbour, tapas in the old streets, music and food in the square, several pretty cafes on the beach too - whatever you want.
The ferry taxi over to Portimao runs every 10 minutes until 11pm, both to the old town or to the the marina with its many boutiques, bars, cafes and huge beach.
Loved waking round the clifftops and finding tiny secluded beaches and wildflowers with amazing views.
The apartment is large, well stocked and we were provided with a very welcome gift of goodies in the fridge on arrival. The pool is very near but out of sight and sound. The staff at the pool bar very helpful and friendly and make fabulous sangria!

Excellent Villa
We had a wonderful holiday . The villa was top class, very spacious with everything you could possibly want the sun terrace was lovely and it was so near the pool which was brilliant.
We had had this villa recommended to us and we would recomend it to anyone else thinking of going to Ferragudo which is one of the best places in Portugal. So unspoilt but with lovely restaurants and beaches. We hope to return again sometime and would stay in the same place.

Amazing holiday
We had a great holiday in this lovely spacious villa, it was very clean and well maintained and had everything we needed. The sun terrace was amazing.
The beach and the restaurants are within easy walking distance and we ate out every night, eating lots of beautifully cooked fresh fish.
The Portuguese and very friendly and particularly so when we had a boat trip from the harbour to Silves. We received lots of interesting commentary from the boat owner.
Ferragudo itself is very picturesque with very narrow cobbled streets and traditional houses. We hired a car and were able to park easily in most places.
We would highly recommend the villa and we do hope to return

Lovely villa
We stayed at this lovely villa recently and had a wonderful time. The owner was quick to reply to enquiries and very helpful. The villa was spacious and clean and only a a few steps from a lovely quiet swimming pool with helpful staff. Ferragudo is very picturesque and the beach & restaurants are only a 10 min walk away. The beach is lovely with great bars for a drink or lunch. There is such a good choice of restaurants and we were spoilt for choice, great food & reasonable. We will definitely be returning for another holiday in the near future.

Lovely quiet apartment with large sunny terrace
My wife and I rented this apartment for 4 weeks, the whole of September 2015. From booking to arrival and departure everything went smoothly and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property with its large sunny terrace and its location which is only about 5 mins walk from the fabulous safe beach and maybe 10 mins walk from this unspoiled village. The on site pool is only about 20 yards away and was quiet while we were there but it may be quite busy during school holidays. There is a good snack bar alongside run by Alice and her family who can't do enough for you.
If you haven't been to Ferragudo before you will be bowled over by the beach which doesn't seem to get too busy. As it is inside a breakwater there are virtually no waves and the sand slopes very gently into the sea so it is very safe even for small kids. It's all soft sand with only the occasional pebble There is also a lifeguard on duty but I doubt he has ever been used. Also 4 bars/ cafes but they never get rowdy.
Ferragudo itself has probably the best selection of reasonably priced restaurants we have come across, the quality of the food is outstanding and we were more than happy with all of them.
Don't worry about not speaking Portugese, every one speaks excellent English.
Lovely apartment, beach, village, food, people. Will be back next year!

Fantastic
Very clean spacious house with plenty of outside room. Very convenient for the pool which is only a few seconds walk away. Great to have air conditioning and a very large terrace. Plenty of local attractions and excellent restaurants including A Ria and Ferragood, which were reasonably priced. Also enjoyed taking the water taxi to Portimao and visiting No Solo Agua for its fantastic pool, food and drink! Another main attraction for the children in Portimao is an inflatable in the sea! We would highly recommend this area and this particular property to all.

Lovely relaxing holiday!
We had a super relaxing holiday at Casa de Piexe. The owners arranged transfers from the airport which were excellent. We were greeted by Emma and Mike (villa managers) on arrival to show us round and get our holiday started. They had also left some unexpected food and drink essentials so we did not have to rush to a supermarket immediately which was fantastic. The villa itself is spacey and clean. The air conditioning worked well. The terrace is a good size with 5 sunbeds and a table for 6. The WIFI is a great bonus for us and especially the kids (aged 14 and 12)! The pool is fairly small but only got busy after about 3.30. The pool bar is managed by Alice and Sergio who are very welcoming. The snacks and drinks are reasonably priced. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to a lovely beach which has a couple of restaurants. The main square takes about 10 mins and has a good selection of restaurants. Mike and Emma recommended a couple of Portuguese restaurants which were great. All the food was fairly priced as was the wine. The nearest supermarket was only 5 minutes away and stocked all we needed. All in all a quiet and relaxing holiday.

FAB-U-LOUS...... Again!!!
This was our 2nd time back to Casa do Peixe. We were so excited about our return visit.
Once again we were met by Emma and Mike who made the Casa feel like "coming back home"
The fridge was full of goodies which was wonderful after our journey.
We ate out every night and had some amazing meals. Lots of fresh sea food !! All within walking distance.
We usually spent the morning on the sandy local beach and the afternoon by the pool where we were looked after very nicely by Alice. She cooked us fresh prawns one day which were yummy!!
Our food shopping was bought in the local shop which was a five minute walk through the cobbled streets. It was lovely to sit in a local coffee shop and watch the locals go about their daily lives in this gorgeous, quiet and relaxed fishing village. A real gem in The Algarve!!
The Casa was clean, tidy and was equipped with everything you needed.
Ferragudo has a massive place in our hearts and fingers crossed we will return in 2014

Excellent Villa, Excellent Place
This was the second time we stayed here, and its so good we cant image staying anywhere else. The villa has everything you could need, and is in prime location, just the right distance from the beach on one side and the square down the other side. The pool is just right and food and drink from the pool bar is very good, staff very nice and welcoming. Its a quiet place but at the same time has loads to do, and many good places to eat/drink.

The apartment is spacious and equipped with everything you could need. There’s an enormous terrace for dining on and soaking up some rays. It’s located in a very peaceful complex of holiday homes, which features a pool just a 10-second walk from the house. Praia Grande beach is just a five-minute walk, where you can always find plenty of space to lay your beach towel, as well as several bars. However, we preferred the Pintadinho and Canoeiro beaches a little further afield (though still walkable), which are smaller and more packed but incredibly beautiful with crystal clear water. We had a car, though you probably don’t need one. We only did the one day trip - out to the town of Sagres and Cabo de Sao Vicente, the most south-westerly point of mainland Europe, which was fun. As far eating out, you can’t go too far wrong in Ferragudo town, which is also a short walk away. The restaurants serve fish so fresh it seems as if it’s jumped straight out of the sea and on to your plate (via the quayside barbecues). We especially enjoyed A Ribeira on the quayside, as well as O Barril and the family-run Farragood. The town itself is charming and picturesque, with enough bars, shops and amenities such as banks to mean you rarely need to travel further afield. In all, a really top-notch spot.

We have just come back from a wonderful weeks holiday. The house was fantastic - clean, roomy, well-equipped, comfy beds, quiet air con, gorgeous sun terrace and very peaceful. We found both the reception and pool bar staff friendly and helpful. The pool had shade if required during the hottest parts of the day and was only a few steps from the front door. We ate breakfast and normally lunch in and found that the kitchen contained all we needed. In the early evenings we loved the Kalu beach bar and its chilled out caribbean feel. We ate out in the evenings in a variety of restaurants both on the beach and in town and enjoyed every meal - we found the prices of food and drink very reasonable. The live music in the beach restaurants and in the square was an added bonus. Ferragudo is a lovely place - peaceful and uncommercialised and very friendly. We enjoyed visits to Carvoeira and Portimao but were glad to return to Ferragudo. The local beaches were excellent and, like the town, were within easy walking distance. We loved the beaches at Sagres - worth a visit. We had a hire car but could've managed without one if we hadn't wanted to travel further afield. I would recommend this house to all but the infirm (because of the steps) - we were with my daughter and her boyfriend who are in their early twenties and they also had a fantastic holiday.

Stayed for short break with partner in October 2008 - Property very clean and well-maintained and would recommend to others as great for either a short break or main holiday. Bedrooms downstairs so may not be suitable for families with toddlers or very young children but layout fine for children otherwise. Easy walk to town and beach and locals very friendly. We enjoyed eating at several restaurants in town and ate in a couple of times too. Owner was really helpful and got back promptly if we had any queries. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

The house is all we expected and more, very clean; very well maintained and tasteful. I would also like to say that there are now sharp knives and an excellent vegetable peeler! There was also the added bonus of the facilities of reception with very friendly and most helpful staff. We had some lovely meals out, but the apartment is so well equipped that it is not a problem to eat in, we dined on the wonderful roof terrace, which had magnificnet views. We didn't have a car and found we didn't need one. We walked to the Lidl, which is not far, bought our basics and got a taxi back. There is a market for fish and veg everyday. We had a lovely meal in Bernards, the staff there are lovely and made us feel very welcome indeed. We would also recommend the Farragood, which is situated in the main town, but if you want something reasonably priced to eat, there is a lovely little snack bar on the beach, which serve tastey meals right into the evening, which cost on average 7 - 8 euros per main meal, and a bottle of house wine is only 6.50 euros, and it is set in the most delightful setting. It was lovely to have an evening meal with wine, right on the beach, candles on the table and watch the sun go down - bliss! There are two other restaurants on the beach front and one has live music until the early hours if you fancy moonlight dance. In fact Ferragudo has something for everybody, and it is lovely to see that the lovely narrow cobbled streets are untouched by commercialism. We did the cliff top walk and walked from Ferragudo to Carviero, it took about 3 hours, we enjoyed an excellent meal in their village square, we explored Carviero and then spent the afternoon on the beach to recover from our walk, we hired a taxi back for 9 euros. Another day we got the bus from just behind reception into Portimao. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and we will definately recommend it to our family and friends.

The photos on this website do not do the villa justice, we could not believe how clean, modern and well maintained it was! With two terraces and 3 bathrooms we were spoilt for choice. The kitchen was very well equipped, although maybe could do with a few sharper knives and a better peeler! There are games and books and a dvd player for your entertainment. The villa is in a great location, literally less than 5 mins to the beach, although for the nicer beaches you need to walk slightly further. The beaches were so quiet was lovely! We did not have a car, and found most things within easy reach, but because of this we could only shop in little grocery shops which are expensive. Restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. We particularly recommend the O Barrel and the bar the three monkeys, a lovely upmarket bar, very friendly! Portimao is the nearest town, this website recommends the water taxi, which we actually found quite expensive at 8 euros per person return. Id recommend getting a bus or normal taxi. Reception were also very helpful and we were able to book various activities this way. We would certainly recommend this property especially if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday in a non touristy area!

Guy & Liz Hampshire.
We rented the house mid January 09 for one month. On arrival the property was clean and tidy.
Ferragudo in january is very quiet, just as we hoped, only a few restaurants were open, but the food was reasonable but due to the exchange rate not good value,(2 meals 1 bottle of wine £50), so we ate in quite a lot, or visited nearby friends.
We spent our days walking and bird watching, the Algarve is great for both. We also spent a couple of nights in Evora
in the Alentajo area, this is the agricultural centre of Portugal its a very beautiful and traditional part of the country.
We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Castelo. Just a couple of minor criticisms, we paid £50 to the complex for a wifi connection that was weak and unreliable, and the tv and the available channels awful. Not a problem in the summer or a short stay but during long cold winter nights, yes, but this wouldnt stop us renting the house again.

We had a fantastic honeymoon at Casa do Peixe in Ferragudo back in 2005 and a couple of great stays since. The villa is ideally located: near the pool and only a short walk into Ferragudo itself. Ferragudo is a charming little fishing village with a great choice of restaurants as well as local shops and markets. Water taxis and trains are available from the village so no need to hire a car. However being the adventurous sort, we hired a car and had a day up in the mountains, a day on the west coast and a day in Tavira - all highly recommended!!
The villa is well kitted out with everything you need and was clean on arrival. Reception were very helpful in booking local trips, restaurants etc. Our best meal (and we like our food!!) was at a restaurant on the Monchique road called Jardim das Oliveiras - it's a must :-)
In short, we'd recommend this villa and location to families, couples or groups of friends alike. Whether you want to lounge by the pool or on one of the nearby beaches or explore the Algarve further - this is the perfect spot. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have over the last couple of years!

We enjoyed a wonderful sunny week in Ferragudo (15th Sept). The house is in an ideal location, being close to beautiful beaches, the quaint town and a number of good quality restaurants.
The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped. We ate out every day and did not cook, but there is plenty of everything to enable you to cook all kinds of food. When we arrived, the house was spotless, and there was plenty of room for the four of us to live together in harmony for the week.
We were very lazy during our stay and very much enjoyed the sun terace at breakfast time and in the afternoons, once we had returned from a visit or a stroll. A lovely touch is the folder of ideas and notes on places of interest and restaurants, which has been complied by successive visitors to help others to plan their holiday. We went to some of the recommended places and added some of our own. The pool is really close by and reception were very helpful. We did not want for anything all week.
