Nice, small hostal opposite a beautiful chruch

The balcony was nice and the air conditioning was good.
We had a lot of problems at this property.
The attention from the host was not good, and the information listed is dishonest. There is no one at this property speaking English (not even a little). We stayed for a week, and during that entire time there was never anyone available at reception. If the host was responsive to messages this wouldn't be much of a problem, but she often didn't respond to my WhatsApp messages for hours, or until the next day, if she responded at all. And the replies she gave did not even answer the questions I was asking. Sometimes this was because she didn't understand, but other times it felt more intentional... For example, when I asked about renting bicycles, she responded by inviting a man to the property who was only trying to rent us an ATV for a ridiculous price - almost as much as we paid for the room. We never received any reply about the bicycles. During our stay, we barely saw the host. She entered the building maybe 2-3 times in the early morning to remove the trash. But on the last morning of our visit, she came knocking on the door of our room at 7:30 am. We were still in bed, and when we didn't respond to the knocking, she actually opened the door to our room and poked her head in to tell us that check-out was at noon (not 11:30 as it says on Booking). We found this strange and extremely inappropriate.
The common areas also were not clean when we arrived. All the dishes in the kitchen were dirty and many of them were broken and barely usable (the only knife had no handle and was very dull, one of the two mugs was cracked, there was only a single tiny spoon available for use). The floor on the lower level was also a mess. There was some gray sandy material everywhere that looked something like cat litter. And we encountered large cockroaches in the bathroom on the lower level. One of the toilet seats on the lower level was not even attached to the toilet. It was just sitting loose on top of the toilet bowl.

It’s situated in a quiet small village in front of the local church and little park where elderly men are chitchatting. We had one of the two Deluxe rooms at the front with a nice balcony with private bathroom. The room was small but clean. The airconditioning was quiet and worked well. There is a communal kitchen downstairs where you can cook or put your drinks in the fridge. Make sure you visit nearby Playa El Uverto and Playa La Candelaría around noon when it’s low tide. They are breathtaking and especially La Candalería is desolate.
The wifi was mediocre. Make sure you have a local SIM to communicate because there is no reception. The friendly occupant of the house directly left of the premises has the keys to the property. Make sure you have a car because it’s off the main road and the nearest nice town of Las Tablas is about 15 minutes drive away.

Very comfortable, quiet, and friendly people
There could be more frequency in cleaning, like taking out the trash and so forth.

The location right across the narrow street from the town centre is great. The town people gather there to sit and talk.
No hot water, rooms cluttered and dusty. Kitchen stacked with dishes. No towels provided.
