This was our 5th stay within one month (for family reasons). The hotel is right in the centre of Winchester and ideal for visitors to the city. On entering from the street, the hotel is a revelation as it has so many beautiful public rooms and a really lovely walled garden where guests can sit, relax and have drinks /afternoon teas etc. Overall, it really impresses ! The bedrooms (we have stayed in the old building and the newer extension) are very well designed and comfortable. On each stay we have slept very well. The staff are welcoming and helpful. We like it so much we have recommended it to wider family and we are already booked in again next month.

Hotel located in the old town. Walking distance to the cathedral and museums. A large hotel used for parties, with a beautiful courtyard where you can relax on deckchairs. There are many pubs and cafés nearby, but it is unexpectedly quiet.
パーティ客も多いせいか、駐車場はホテル裏に用意されているが、停められる台数には限りがある。自分たちは最後の一台でギリギリだった。
There is a parking lot at the back of the hotel, but the number of cars is limited.
We were the last ones and managed to park just in time.

Good location. Very nice garden.
Bathroom too old. Very basic in general.

The location was very good. Walking distance to a shopping mall, the Winchester Cathedral and Rick Stein’s restaurant. I also liked our room location that looked out into a garden.
It was an older hotel, the toiletries were in disposable bottles. For the environment, these bottles should not be used. They should elect refillable wall-mounted type dispensers.

Locatie is prima, personeel is vriendelijk, prima hotel.

Nice tranquil garden and good location
In need of an uplift. Bedroom was somewhat ‘tired’ and toiletries poor.

Such friendly staff
Large bedroom with comfortable bed
Location - literally 50 yards from the High Street
Handy parking absolutely no problem about a charge given how central it was
The walled garden - unfortunately it rained most of the time but the thought of sitting there as the sun would be going down with a cool glass of wine would be brilliant when the weather was better
So close to so many sights, most of my favourite stores were there
Towel rail in the bathroom was on super intensive heat (which backed on to our bed) with no seeming way to turn it off - did mention to staff
A bit of an up and down trek to our room
But that's it!!

Its a lovely hotel with a central location. The bed was fantastically soft and suited me very well. Clean, warm, cosy. I had to cut my time there short due to family illness but would have no hesitation going back.
Parking wasn't easy nor was finding the place. Google maps satnav didn't really make it clear as the entrance to St Peter Street just looks like a turning into an alley rather than a road in its own right especially at night and so Google maps just kept taking me round and round the city. There was supposed to be parking at £12/night available but when I asked about it I was directed to the pay and display which gave me two hours at a time. As a result I just parked on the street and so had to leave before 8am or risk a parking ticket when I would have preferred to be trying their breakfast and setting off a few hours later. In the morning I asked about parking but it wasn't clear - I think they want you to use the municipal car parks which are a reasonable walk away. No one was talking about parking on the site at a cost of £12 I need to come back later in the year for a family event but I'm still not really sure where the best place to park is.

Comfy bed
Mold everywhere furniture worn seems to be at least 20 years old, had allergies since there’s old carpet everywhere. It’s a shame because the location and size of the rooms is great just could do with some refurbishments

The hotel was beautiful, going at Christmas meant it was full of pretty christmas decorations too. The breakfast was delicious and the view from the dining room was beautiful. The complementary toiletries and biscuits were also such a bonus. We also especially loved meeting the cat that comes to visit the hotel, so cute!

The central location was the main reason for choosing the hotel and on that score it was ideal. The decor in the main areas was well maintained and very festive and the reception staff helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
The hotel was very hard to find and definitely needs better signage. The breakfast food itself was fine but not included in the price of the room which was surprising for a 4* hotel. Plus it was all self service. Very disappointing. Also the room looked tired, with some cracks/peeling on the wall over the radiator with no information in the room about facilities or WiFi and the barman was poor, slopping our drinks and more interested in his laptop than serving us.

Incredible location in the centre of Winchester
The room was very warm. I was upstairs so could sleep with the windows open. It was December so this sorted the problem but I’m not sure how they would overcome this in summer.

The location was amazing considering the price.
Our room looked a little bit tired although I feel this was reflected in the more than reasonable price

Centre of Winchester
The room smelled of damp and the bath leaked into the bedroom carpet. Expensive

Its central location as we needed to be in the city centre.
Spacious hotel room and large en- suite.
They had explained that there was not the possibility of guaranteeing a car parking space before our arrival which was an important factor.
Nice fruit at breakfast - for me especially nice pineapple and melon
Dressing gowns and slippers were available in the wardrobe although we did not need them.
Comfortable bed
The breakfast had gone up in price since we booked which, perhaps in view of inflation, was to be expected but the coffee was not very good and only a vague nod to other possible European tastes given Winchester could have a number of foreign visitors.
In our room when we boiled the kettle for a drink someone had left chemicals of some sort in it and we had to spit out what it was in our mouths and throw our drinks in the sink it was so bad. Someone had also left a chemical taste in one of the glasses so things tasted "off". The room was overly warm and we tried to open the window for some air but it would not stay open.

The location and quietness were brilliant and I am fussy! Loved the walled garden too to sit out in the morning or the evening. The staff went above and beyond eg Craig and Alex and the staff on the desk were pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return. Loved the chips too as absolutely wow! The discounted price made it a superb weekend but of course the UK is still massively overpriced in contrast to Europe and Asia. The Royal Winchester are doing a great job. Loved my stay.
Like 99% of hotels all over the world keeping a cooked breakfast hot is an issue. Lots of choice but only 4 hotels worldwide out of hundreds stayed in have cracked this. Maybe close lids and guests use disposable hand towels to lift lids.

It was ok .
It could have made it clearer how to enter the carpark. Had to pay £14 for one night to park, when we left did not know how to leave carpark it would have been helpful if we had been told the exit code.
