Nice small resort with a personal touch. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Great location right on the most amazing beach.

Breakfast was excellent. They offered fresh fruits, and a variety of other options. The only drawback was the bees. I couldnt enjoy my breakfast with so many bees attacking my food plate.
If they could find a way to control the bees, it would be fantastic.

- The design and layout of the resort is beautiful
- The staff are friendly, characterful individuals (the place has some soul)
- The breakfast spread was excellent and delicious. Not huge but all very nice.
- Afternoon tea was also great with lovely homemade cookies!
- very family friendly: sand around the pool area for playing in, nice big shallow end to wade around in. Easter egg hunt and a wee goodbye trinket from the lovely manager Valentina.
- nice wee collection of things for big and little people to have fun at the beach with: box of sand toys, kayaks, snorkels, body boards...
- beach is beautiful and hassle minimal - other comments about seaweed are ridiculous, unless you like a lifeless Mediterranean.
- Fixed menus for lunch and dinner were very expensive for the quality - we were very happy not to have paid for even half board. Asha, next door, was far superior for both quality and value. A real shame as the breakfast was so good and the resort so lovely.
- Beach boy was super lovely and helpful though I was sad to see him raking the beach seaweed (and plastic litter) into piles and burying it under the sand. A problem for another day...
- Taxi transfer to Ukunda was EXTORTIONATE - 18usd for a 5-10min drive!! And it arrived half an hour late creating a lot of unnecessary stress. The hotel could offer their own car for less and still make money/make the car pay for itself and it would always be punctual!

It’s an amazing and cozy resort. I can say from what I saw in the area that is one of the best.
It could be more improvement on the restaurant menu but I guess it was because of the pandemic situation.

The room was fantastic, staff were great and the food exceptional. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our last dinner was amazing with great food, service and with a breathtaking view.
The internet could be improved but this is an issue for the provider. Even 4g was unpredictable. Internet wherever we went at Diani was not the best so it’s not Waterlovers fault.

I never leave reviews but had to this time.
Amazing for a couple or family.
Staff are super friendly, efficient and cater to your every need.
Clean and very well organised.
The size of the food menu isn’t big but the food is delicious and have a lot of gluten free options.
Nothing to do with the hotel itself but the looky-looky men on the beach can be very annoying trying to sell you souvenirs.

The property was very peaceful, well maintained, clean and the staff were so nice.

This was my 2nd stay at Waterlovers, and they did not disappoint! the cottages are spacious, the outdoor spaces intimate yet private, the staff is super attentive and the beach is divine, with easy access to outside activities and restaurants! I’m addicted!
If I’m hard pressed to pick something: the breakfast and restaurant menus don’t really change. i’m not complaining, the food is good, just could use some innovation (it’s only an issue for repeat customers though 😊)

The staff was very accommadating and friendly, they were always a step ahead of us in planning! They gave great importance to the travellers needs Would definitely recommend to everyone. The hotel was very close to the ocean, closer than all of the other hotels in the area. Nice restaurants and cafes nearby for breakfast and dinner.

What’s not to like, fabulous staff fabulous food, azure blue beach front, air con rooms, lovely pool, sunshine and cocktails. A small intimate resort with so many special little touches it reaches a 10 on my scale.
Having to leave!

Fantastic customer service, personalized and absolutely tasty food. Loved it.
Would be nice to add some carpets in the rooms so it is not too cold on the floor

The hotel is lovely and is set up for success with a number of things that could be fixed to make this an outstanding experience. Wonderful location, smart design for a boutique feel + Valentina and staff hold this place together with their personalities, but that's about it.
Addition - nice toiletries and comfy bed
I was incorrectly charged prior to our arrival by the owner, without my authorisation. We've cleared this up after couple of emails but that left a bad aftertaste.
The suite is actually a single dark room with a daybed cramped inside (it would make more sense to have it outside on the spacious balcony). The a/c doesn't turn off. There's no mini bar or a fridge in the room, and they charge extra for the room service.
WiFi is weak and even broke for 24 hours during our stay, not ideal when one still needs to work.
Food is OK, not great, and very expensive for what you get. Coffee is not ready by 7.30 when breakfast starts. The most disappointing were frozen pizza bases despite a proper pizza oven onsite that has never been turned on. Their explanation was that these were Roman crusts, but even in Rome they know how to raise the dough and not serve cardboard. The hotel is right next to few very good outside restaurants within 5 minutes walk.
Housekeeping barges into the room twice per day when you are still there with no qualms or apologies about it.
The worst thing is that they pushed us doing our pcr tests with the clinic that they "work with" however they were late for collection time and until now, almost 36 hours later, the results are still not with us. We are probably missing our flights tomorrow morning. Diani Beach hospital shares results within guaranteed 24 hours, so I strongly recommend going there instead.
Taxi charges from/to Ukunda airstrip are not included into the price despite it being 10 minutes away. You get 1 bottle of water per day per room (btw, kudos for recycling the bottles!)
I would like to point out that overall it was not a disaster stay, it was a lovely base for exploring the area, and staff are great!
However for the paid price I would have rather stayed at Nomad that definitely goes out of the way to make it an amazing experience to stay with them every single time.
