About this cottage rental
Set in the village of Timberscombe, just 3 miles from the vibrant, mediaeval village of Dunster with a wide choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes, gift shops and its romantic castle.
Situated on a quiet, no-through lane (off-road parking for 2 cars) with lovely views and direct access to moorland and forest walks.
Cosy lounge with log-burning fire, seating for four and TV/DVD with digital streaming capability.
Kitchen/diner with range cooker and all mod cons, a handy utility/boot room (please note this is 3 steps down from the kitchen and where the fridge-freezer stands) and a peaceful cottage garden with space to dine alfresco.
Upstairs leads to the bathroom (separate shower and bath) and 2 bedrooms. The pretty front room has a double bed, while the back room can be provided as either a twin room or with a spacious and comfortable zip-and-link superking bed.
Unfortunately, due to rising costs but in particular the expected increase in fuel costs, we have currently had to add a heating fee per night to cover the expected costs of gas and electricity.

We had a really nice stay at the cottage. Everything was great, clean and Becky (owner) was really nice and friendly, questions had been answered near realtime via the portal. Only thing we missed was a pub at Timberscombe. We went to Dunster etc to eat something for dinner.

Very nice cottage in a beautiful place. Plenty to do in the area and Becky was very communicative and provided loads of helpful information on nearby activities, food and other things to do. The cottage itself was immaculate and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Okay, the weather was just perfect to begin with, which is not in your hands. But everything else was perfect too. I made some a bit of a mess around the booking before we even arrived and Becky was super accommodating and helpful. The place was in spotless condition with everything you could want from a home away from home. We just loved staying there. Thank you so much Becky. What an enchanting place you’ve got!

We stayed 3 nights at Becky’s cottage. We loved it. Really comfy bed and sofas, the cottage was clean and the heating was good! We will definitely stay again the next time we are in Exmoor. Thank you Becky!

Really enjoyed our stay at Willow cottage, it had everything we needed, we had lots of places to see, just a bit disappointed that the local pub wasn’t open while we were there, but it didn’t spoil our stay.
Would stay again

A very pleasant holiday in a quiet location with a kind welcoming present from our host; Becky, to greet us. The accomodation was comfortable with ample entertainment facilities. The kitchen had plenty of culinary equipment; complete with a large electric range.
The location; Timberscombe, close to Dunster afforded many opportunities for visits to interesting towns and reasonably unspoilt countryside. A comprehensive guide to local areas of interest was available to peruse. All in all a most pleasant break; far too short a holiday of course.

Great cottage for our stay. The stream/ford at the end of the lane was a delight.

Perfect little stay to visit friends in the village and celebrate a local wedding! We were allowed to arrive early and managed to park both cars on the drive with some negotiation. Comfy beds with three of us staying the weekend in the cottage.
Has a homely lived in vibe with a cute garden that looked lush to read a book and enjoy a coffee. Only misfortune was the local water company switching off the water supply in the area so we had no notice or supply hours before the wedding. Fortunately it was back on the next day.

Well located for exploring north Devon and Somerset. Cottage in a peaceful setting in a small village just outside Dunster. Homely cottage with comfortable beds. Good for a get away from it all holiday.

We had a pleasant stay and the bed was very comfortable. The bottle of wine and cookies were very welcome. The surroundings are peaceful and pretty and it was lovely sitting in the garden area relaxing. One little thing I think should be mentioned in the description is that the fridge is downstairs in the boot room/utility. I found it quite difficult to keep my balance carrying items from the fridge to the kitchen. Not a problem for younger/more able bodies but potential bookers should be made aware of this.

Love this house, and its surroundings. Lovely, clean, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped for a relaxing stay. Sunny little garden for eating and enjoying the sunshine. Quiet and pretty village with little community shop. It has everything we need for a relaxing stay, and it is a great base to visit all our favourite places on Exmoor. The owner is always so helpful, and responds whenever there is a query.
Have now stayed a few times and always feel I want to return again as soon as I can!!

My daughter and I spent a lovely week based at this comfortable and thoughtfully equipped cottage. From the helpful information pack to the communications we had with the owner we felt very looked after during our stay. The village of Timberscombe and the surrounding countryside is very attractive and a good base for outings. We barely scratched the surface and aren’t sad that we will have to return. Recommendation:- Lock’s Victorian tea rooms in Dunster for their pretty gardens and delicious warm home-made scones. Not so great:- A walk around Wimbleball Lake was extremely hard going as many of the paths are in poor repair. Our planned 3 1/2hr walk took over 6 and was rather nerve-wracking at times with narrow paths (particularly over the opposite side to the activity centre) alongside steep drops into the reservoir. Beautiful views but difficult walking at times.

Nice house good quality throughout comfortable beds and seating quiet location but close enough to coast and the steam railway to find pleanty to do.

A quirky and cosy little cottage very well equipped the only little thing was it smelt a bit damp downstairs but being an old cottage I suppose that's to be expected with original quarry tiles etc. But otherwise a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and thankyou to Becky for the bottle of wine and delicious cookies left as a welcome gift very much appreciated.

Perfect Getaway
We wanted a base for a walking holiday and this cottage was perfect. Walks on your doorstep and lots just a short drive away. Everything and more you could want in a property, great outside area and fab local pub to walk to. What else could you want and Becky let us know we could check in early too.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location
After a long day that involved driving to Exmoor from London, we wondered as we got near to the cottage whether it would all be worth it, but from the second we entered the cottage we felt right at home and greatly enjoyed all that it had to offer. It was clean, airy, and came with everything that we needed, while Becky was always friendly and prompt whenever we had questions. Timberscombe is a relaxing village, well situated for exploring Exmoor, with lots of walking trails. The playground and football field were perfect for our children and everyone was very friendly. Dunster, Minehead, Bossington Hill, and (in particular) the Valley of the Rocks are all recommended - though driving in the area can sometimes be very challenging.

Holiday 2022
The outside of the property was un-inspiring and the parking caused damage to our car due to a rather pointless wall. We were warned of this but unfortunately we still had a problem. The lounge curtains were hanging on a few hooks which made the room look shabby. The beds were very good. A pity the back window in bedroom 2 could not be opened so a bit airless. The "treats" left for us was a nice gesture. A bit of general tweaking would make this cottage ideal, we could see that Becky was trying.

Peaceful location in lovely wee village
Lovely stay in Timberscombe with our family. I had neglected to record the code for the key access and there is no phone signal so ensure you do this prior to arriving as it wasn’t how I expected to arrive with two tired children!
The accommodation was brilliant for my 4 year old who was safe to play outside and enjoyed the ford down the road. My baby isn’t mobile yet fortunately as there are some steps to kitchen and gaps between stair railing are quite big so I wouldn’t stay here with a mobile baby. We had to provide our own travel cot and high chair which kind of indicates that it’s not necessarily best suited to small children.
It was a brilliant location however for exploring Exmoor. We drove to some places and also walked to Englands tallest tree from the house. There is small post office with some basic items and the pub doesn’t serve food but can get a pint.
Becky was incredibly responsive which was appreciated and the house is well equipped. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Wonderful weather for our stay. Nice little cottage very well equipped. Lovely peaceful area with scenic views. Steep stairs and small steps need careful negotiation if you are unsteady on your feet! Small garden is a sun trap!

A peaceful rest
Absolutely recommended for anyone wanting peace and likes walking. A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. Leave the car at the cottage and explore all the surrounding countryside from the front door. The cottage is very comfortable and the host excellent in communication. The welcoming bottle of wine and Swiss chocolate biscuits was a very nice touch. Thank you for giving us a very warm pleasant break.
