Breakfast is good and enough. Hotel is near morning market. Hot spring is good in view. Staff is nice. Room is big enough.
Wifi is not so fast.

Top ryokan with beautiful shared and private onsen. The breakfast and meal were really good and large. It’s definitely worth paying extra for the meal. The town has so many beautiful walks and looks great in blossom season.
Nothing although there was not many buses running to the town so this could be a problem depending when you arrive on the train. A taxi ride will be very expensive. Also if you’re planning on going to Magome from here be aware that there is only 3 buses a day and it doesn’t drop you off close to Magome it drops you off a steep 30 min climb away on the side of the motorway.

Friendly staff who make sure you understand everything. Our room had a private outdoor bath, and I have to say, it was worth it. Also, we had an authentic Japanese dinner and breakfast.
NIL.

nice staff, good old fashioned onsen, very quiet
a bit old and some point need maintenance, no shop or nothing around onsen

The service was beyond excellent. I cannot commend the staff enough for their kindness and commitment to making sure we were fully taken care of. In particular, the gentleman who speaks English, he made sure to always check in with us / follow through with whatever we needed. I also loved the fact that there are private onsen rooms, AND private indoor / outdoor onsens available for booking (since both of us have tattoos).
The food was not excellent. It was normal, but the service staff, especially the ladies taking care of serving the food made our meals thoroughly enjoyable.

The staff was wonderful, especially Mase who spoke excellent English and could not have been more helpful. the people who served the meals were also very nice.
And we loved the baths.
Everything was clean and nice, but we're just getting too old to sleep on the floor. A western style bed would have been much more comfortable for us.
The elevator seemed dangerous because once it started closing, and that happened surprisingly quickly, it would just bang into you very hard. Several people commented on it.

Very clean and good traditional ryokan. Nice setting.
A bit remote but not a major concern.

historical, nice onsen near Iida city with a beautiful small garden. cosy Japanese bath. It’s worth to stay a night. reasonable price.
we arrived at 4 p.m.; it was not possible to arrange for a dinner ( Japanese ryokan are in general not very flexible). we found a nice restaurant 600 m away (Hoshizora,
Japan, 〒395-0304 Nagano, Shimoina District, Achi, Chisato, Hirugami−5−3) with a real good menu selection ( but order starter, intermediate, main course, desert one after the other!… otherwise you get everything at the same time🫤)

we like the Japanese style of environment
the strange sounds of the heater, it’s a little annoying at night

- This is probably the nicest and most spacious room I’ve ever stayed in. We were all very happy with that. Our party of 4 had 2 rooms to share and a common space with a little TV. We didn’t use the wooden tub (partly because it was blocked by a cart and hard to open so we didn’t realize till it was too late) but it looked nice. Overall the room was the best part of our stay.
- Very kind staff who showed us to our room and helped with some of the luggage. They also told us about the local fireworks show and we were just able to catch it thanks to them.
- A nice onsen, not tattoo friendly, but I’ve been in better ones. There are private spaces available to rent as well.
- Just overall a very pretty ryokan, especially the entryway with the rock garden and water features.
- Wifi was very spotty in our room. Not sure if it’s that way in all of them as we were staying in a corner room at the end of a hall
- Pillow was small and full of beads, which is common in Japan, but never very comfortable
- Breakfast is not bad per se, but it’s very traditional washoku (Japanese) style. We’ve had better washoku style breakfasts in the past at other ryokans so I wasn’t blown away by that aspect

Amazing facilities, great atmosphere including the beautiful inner Japanese garden, the leg onsen, and the rottenburo (outside onsen). The room was spacious, clean and elegantly ornamented. Kind staff and amazing breakfast!

The staff were very helpful. Being able to have breakfast and dinner at the property was essential as there were very few options in the immediate vicinity. Both breakfast and dinner each day were very enjoyable, traditional Japanese meals with a generous and wide variety of dishes. Our family room was warm and comfortable. We would stay here again.
