About this cottage rental
Come enjoy our Historic single level Beach Side Cottage. This home is one of the original Ocean View Cottages built in the 1950's. We feature 2 Master Bedrooms with Queen size beds and 3 Twin beds in the 3rd bedroom for the kids. Additional sleepers (little ones) can sleep on the couches if needed.
We have high speed WiFi and a large 75 inch Smart TV for your streaming entertainment.
This Historic property was originally built in 1950. It is one of the few original flat top houses that still survives in this Chesapeake Bay neighborhood. Everything is on one level. We have a large yard that can easily handle parking for multiple vehicles including boat or travel trailers.
We have a beautiful fireplace and warm radiator heat that immediately takes away the chill.
Our full size kitchen is stocked and ready to prepare your meals if dining in. We have two dining tables to accommodate larger groups. We also have two bathrooms with showers, Both recently renovated.
We are located right on a public beach access. No roads to cross, just walk out the door and you have a 90 second walk to our wonderful Chesapeake Bay beach. We are not far from the Ocean View Fishing Pier.
Parking is right outside your door and we also have a combination door lock, so that you can check yourself in and out at your leisure. We are pet friendly with a small pet fee of $99.
The unit comes with a charcoal grill, which is located under cover in the lattice covered terrace or porch.
Our large kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need if you choose to prepare your own meals.
If you have a boat or watercraft, bring it! We have plenty of parking space and are close to a very nice public boat ramp.
Even with a thorough modernization the property is a historical home that is now over 70 years old. It has some eccentricities that reflect building standards and designs from the turn of the last century that lends to its charm as an older beach cottage. Our bathrooms are not as large as modern built, but even so, we hope that you will love our older and charming home.
This is a Family/Residential unit and area. No loud music or noise. Quiet hours begin at 9 PM.

The place was in a great location and having everything on one floor was a huge benefit as one of the guests is disabled. The place could use some updates but other than that it was nice! The owner was very responsive to our needs and got right back to us if we had any question! If we ever go back, we would consider this place again!

The hosts were awesome, the house was very comfortable, beach access was perfect. We will be back!!

Short walk to the beach kids and the dogs loved that short distance. Once owners were great to deal with

The location was great, close to the beach. Besides the house being very run down, there were ants in the kitchen. i contacted the owners immediately and did not get a response until the next day. they said someone would be out to spray at noon, but no one showed up. The silverware, especially the potato peeler had food caked on it. It is advertised as a fully stocked kitchen, but was lacked essential cook/bakeware. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom. The curtain rods were barely hanging, i tried to open curtains and it fell on me.
Advertised to sleep 10, but additional charges apply for each person over the amount of 4.

We loved this property. Nothing fancy, but had everything that we needed. Very close to the beach, plenty of parking, we liked the little porch area that went around the property and the birds went crazy every morning in the trees that surrounded (which I enjoyed!) Our family visited daily while we were there, and I actually enjoyed the minimal decor. I didn’t have any fears of anything being knocked off or broken. Lots of really good local restaurants close by, which we enjoyed. Check in and check out we’re both very easy. My only recommendation would be to update the window treatments. They were all a little miss matched, and outdated, that’s just a personal preference, and would not keep me from staying there again. We loved watching the ships go out and the Navy helicopters. Great location and short distance to Norfolk airport.

Honestly very nice on the inside. (The outside could use some sprucing up or updating) but overall very nice on the inside, clean (which is very important to me), nice location, and spacious. You are right beside the public access to the water. So very close to the ocean. Our family had a great time and it worked wonderful for our family of 7. The only thing that I could say that you needed was small tv’s in the bedrooms and mirrors in the bedroom. With a big family like ours when it was time to get ready to go somewhere and you got a shower and got out and went to your room to get ready so the next person could get a shower. Mirrors would’ve been a big help doing hair and makeup. So make sure to bring a vanity mirror with you!! Other than that GREAT STAY!!!!!

My wife, and my in-laws stayed here for a weekend and it was great! It’s located close to a lot of activities and the place itself was great! It had plenty of space and was very clean. It was a very short walk to the beach and accommodating 5 people easily. I would recommend it to any family!

The Property met our needs.

The property is as described. Right near the beach, which is gorgeous. The rooms are very accommodating and spacious. The bathrooms are sufficient as well. Not gonna lie, little expensive for two nights but was sufficient for what we needed. Close to the base so we were greatly surprised to find accommodations so close.

First off let me start by saying that we didn’t go for the beach. We went to see my son who is in the Navy. The side of the house that we stayed on was big! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The showers are on the small side but you just do what you need to do and get out. The location was great for us, just minutes from base and only about 30-40 mins from Virginia Beach. We visited the beach that was just a short walk from the rental and…. Well, I wouldn’t want to go there for a day at the beach… I will say that! If you are used to fancy, this place isn’t for you. This is a historical decent size house with everything you need to get by. We enjoyed our stay and Kathleen was easy to communicate with! Will stay again if available next time we come up!

Fantastic stay on the bay!
For a group of 7 (4 kids under 12 and 3 adults), this house was perfect for a few quiet days on Chesapeake Bay - lots of couch space for relaxing in front of a big TV, lots of table space for family dinner and playing board games, two clean and well-stocked bathrooms perfect for after water time, and quiet sleeping for resting up for the next day of fun! Easy access to the beach, which was quiet and clean for our stay (Mon and Tues) - calm water easy on little kids and lots of creatures to find (hermit crabs, fish, blue crabs, etc).

Great location and steps from the beach
It was perfect for us. We had my parents and two kids and another family with an infant with us.
The house is not modern but it has all the amenities you need. The beach was like having a private beach. No waves, because of the wave breaker rocks. Its literally 100 feet walk to the beach. The house does not have a view of the beach. The shower curtain was broken and the owner came and fixed it. We enjoyed the house...would recommend

Kathleen was very easy to communicate with, she always responded very quickly to any questions. We had noticed the dryer knob to use the dryer was missing and she offered to come over and see what she could do. It’s located very close to a clean, private beach with beautiful sunsets and a quiet neighborhood. The outside of the building could use a little work but the inside was very clean and roomy. The beds were very comfortable and with 4 air conditioners throughout the house it was very comfortable to come back to after a day at the beach. The only recommendation we have is to provide a few more towels, washcloths (we had 5 adults with 7 of each) and dish towels (only 2). Overall it was a great place to stay!!!

Short walk to beach
The owners were very quick in responding to me. I was a little upset that we paid for early check in but could not check in until later because previous renters left late. The house cleaner worked as hard as possible to get things done because of the mess that was left by them! I was not pleased to see used toothbrush and razor in bathroom that was left by previous tenants so that is something that should be checked when cleaning. The kitchen is not fully stocked! We did not have full size forks to eat with do I purchased some. We had to buy 2 frying pans as well. Everything else was fine. There were some ants in kitchen so any spray is a necessity. That is to be expected though when by the beach! Having a nice grill to cook on would be a plus! The dude road to beach which is beside the house stayed full of cars with beach goers and it got loud on a couple nights. I want to thank Kathleen for responding to me when I sent messages.

Convenient with 2 dogs and we were able to book just a week out for our trip. Just had trouble with contacting the owners because you wanted it thru this site. Maybe an emergency # for guests Incase something happened would be good on your list on the table. Otherwise we had a good time!

Wonderful house with a quick 1 min walk to a private (but public) beach. Very clean beach too.
The house was a wonderful size accommodating our large group.
I would suggest changing the air filters regularly. This would greatly improve the air quality in the house. I think this is important to stay on top of since this house allows for pets
Considering the price to rent this home is pretty reasonable, the fact that the home is a bit outdated is okay in my opinion. Everything works in the house.
But updating the house wouldn't hurt and would definitely allow for a price increase.
Thank you for your hospitality!

We had an amazing time at this location. Very close walk to the bay, very comfortable home, comfortable living space for eight adults and most importantly very private. We really enjoyed our stay and would consider returning.

Nice location to the beach (bay side)
It has plenty of room but needs a lot of updates. Showers are very small so if you are plus size don't even bother , the one shower is pretty rough so you probably wont even use it .
The housekeeping they use is terrible the showers are dirty ( One had mold growing on the shower curtain, (They brought a new one the following day that we installed) and the refrigerator bottom was filthy, I was told that the washer and dryer was not an amenity but my opinion is if you’re going to have it in a unit they need to be in working order ( i’ve worked for a management company for the last 20 years , If it was in the house when you got there it would be in working order) The timer knob was broke off of the dryer.
All of the bedrooms had Air conditioning and one in the dining room, they really need one in the living room as well because that was basically the only room that was really hot and the ceiling fan did not work .
It would really be a nice place to stay at if they would put some of the money back into it and fix it up some. There was a plumbing leak in the kitchen when I first got there I fixed it(temporarily).
The management company was really good to work with she offered to come the following days to fix most of the issues I brought up to her ( all but the dryer ) .
Compared to the other places I have stayed in the past 3 stars is being really generous.
If it was updated I would go back but the way it is not a chance.

A short walk to the beach but pictures lead you to believe you are on the beach.Plenty of room and bed were comfortable otherwise not much good to say about it.
There was dog hair on the couches and bedding from previous renters. The small bathroom was disgusting and dark. Paint chipping off the walls, the shower leaked, slug on the wall in the bathroom, no hand towels in bathroom to dry hands.
The dishes had to be washed prior to using, the forks were like toddler size.
Ran out of toilet paper for the 4 days there. WiFi was spotty.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
For the price we paid, very subpar!
