About this house rental

Captivating views and the unbeatable landscape set this home apart from any others in the area. The Orchard House is nestled into the mouth of Grafton Notch among some of the highest, most stunning mountains on the Eastern half of the country. The home is on a dead-end street tucked in between tall pines so traffic and noise is never an issue.

This three bedroom, two bathroom home is situated to give guests easy access to fishing and swimming in the Bear River during the summer, hiking and hunting in Grafton Notch during the fall, Skiing at Sunday River during the winter and snowshoeing the Puzzle Mountain Preserve during the Spring. With endless recreational options from the doorstep, guests are able to explore for days. Snowmobiling and cross country skiing are also accessible from the property and in the summer, guests may opt to visit the natural water slide at Step Falls, only moments away.

If you are In search of a destination getaway that will offer you all the thrills of Western Maine living, this home will allow you to do just that. At night, the darkness, away from town lights, will lend itself to the most enchanting star-filled sky to be seen.

The layout of the Orchard House provides one main-level bedroom and a main level bath. The bedroom has closet space and storage is available so that you can settle into your stay comfortably. The main level bedroom offers Twin Bunk Beds and end tables. The bathroom on this level is full, with a step in tub/shower configuration.

The kitchen has been upgraded with stainless steel appliances and a gas range. The home is stocked with all basic utensils, just bring your favorite groceries! (We recommend S'more ingredients because there is a wonderful outdoor fire pit just off of the porch).

Upstairs, the master bedroom and attached bath offer a private accommodation option. There is a queen sized bed, end tables, and storage as well. A second Bedroom consists of a Twin Over a Full Bunk Bed.

Additional sleeping is available in the upstairs loft as well as the downstairs sunroom.

For communal gathering space, guests will enjoy the open living area on the main living level. With tongue and groove ceiling and two large sliding patio doors, this room encompasses the surroundings to provide a rustic, “Maine Woods” feel.

The bonus living room is off of the open area and has large windows to draw in natural light. The vaulted ceilings and access to the porch make this room an ideal spot to read and unwind with hot cocoa after a day on the slopes.

If your muscles are sore after a long day of skiing, you may choose to relax in the outdoor hot tub. There could not be a more peaceful place to do this! The tranquil scenery is just as relaxing as the hot tub itself!

*The wood-burning fireplace is NOT available due to the safety concern of it being flued together with the oil furnace.

This house had everything our group was looking for. Good location (close to Sunday River), surprisingly well-stocked kitchen, plenty of space (both bedrooms and common areas), and the best part was the hot tub. Really, no complaints. We would definitely stay here again!

The Orchard House has a great vibe-lovely, cozy and super clean-but without making you feel like you can’t “live” there. Kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials, which was a great surprise. The pics are accurate, but don’t quite do it justice. It’s less “campy” than it seems. Great to be in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to trails along the river, yet still close to town and the mountain. I almost gave 4 stars ONLY because the heat was very inconsistent (comfortable downstairs, scorching hot upstairs); and a snow removal crew showed up unannounced at 7AM on a Saturday morning to snow blow the porch and yard. They made a huge racket for a job that should have been taken care of on Friday afternoon.

This house was just what we were looking for in a getaway. The place is very clean and well appointed. The kitchen and family areas were comfortable. There are tons of games and puzzles which was fun for us after skiing. Thanks for a great stay!

It was the perfect rental for my friends and I. The house is the perfect distance from the ski resort and even has views of the trails in the distance. It has a right at home feel that makes you think you've been there before. Absolutely would recommend.

This is a warm, cozy house that had everything we needed. It is about a 10-15 min drive to Sunday River, in a very quiet neighborhood. We brought our dog and there was a great trail behind the house along the river. Would definitely stay here again.

What an absolute gem this property turned out to be. Extremely quiet, which was quite the luxury for us New Yorkers. The kitchen is beautiful and well-equipped. Comfort pours over every surface of the living space, especially when you get the furnace burning. And don’t even get me started on the amazing hot tub. We found so many enjoyable shops and sights nearby, but let’s be honest, I could have stayed in the cottage the entire time. Thank you Mark for sharing this wonderful space.

Our stay was perfect. It was exactly what we needed, some R&R. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our time. The trails behind the property were perfect for a morning stroll, the neighborhood was really quiet and made us feel like we were the only ones around. Getting into town was only about 10-15 minutes away where we found some great little spots for food, shopping and groceries. I would definitely come back and hope to again soon!

Had a great ski weekend with friends at Sunday river, would definitely come back again. Unfortunately had some small problems with the hot tub but Mark was very responsive and had someone out there the same day when I notified him of the issue. The house and property were great and the dogs loved running around in the snow. Will definitely be back!

The aesthetic of this home was very welcoming and cute! There was plenty of room for my friends and I to lounge around and relax after a day trip at Sunday River. The hot tub was a nice bonus and additional to the house. Parking is really easy and the area itself allows for good privacy. Only con was that the stove/oven had an intial very bad, overwhelming gas smell when we first turned it on, had to open all the windows for a bit, but would recommend to anyone!

The property is easy to find and easy to get to Sunday River. We had two families of four staying in this house and our first impression of the house when we walked in side was how clean and inviting the house was. Lots of space for both families to spread out and have room during our stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the items needed to cook meals easily. The dining room table was large enough for all 8 of us to fit at the table and eat together which was great! The hot tub was an awesome bonus that was such a treat for us to enjoy overlooking the snow covered yard. A very quiet and serene setting and just had that homey touch that made us want to stay longer! We loved everything about our stay and look forward to coming back again next year! A beautiful home!
