About this apartment rental
English-style mansion built in 1939 by the rich old owner Sir. Robert Pretty Barlow, admirer of beauty and good living. A precursor of modern gay culture, he hosted writers, painters and illustrious travelers. He himself a traveler, helped to make Taormina known to many of his countrymen and others.
The apartment is located on the first floor of the house in a very central and panoramic position, overlooking the Etna, the Bay of Giardini Naxos and the Badia Vecchia, one of the most significant monuments of the city.

I can’t begin to describe the amazing time we had in Taormina and staying here played a huge role! First of all, the apartment is beautiful and in the perfect location. It checks all the boxes! Secondly, the hosts, Furio and Paola, who are absolutely wonderful. Great communication…from booking to beyond. Everything they recommended from wineries, to shopping and restaurants…all amazing! If you love meeting great people during your travels, then you won’t be disappointed. They are two of the nicest (and super fun) people you will meet. If you prefer your privacy, they will honor that as well. Thank you both so much for the wonderful memories and the beautiful apartment with an amazing history! We hope to see you again!

Was a perfect quiet spot just outside the main walking roads. Furio was very welcoming and made sure our trip went perfect. He even offered a shuttle service to and from certain beaches. Would recommend.

Beautiful apartment in a perfect location -- walk to everything but also out of the fray. Furio and Paola know the town so well and were very generous with their time, recommending and booking restaurants for us, helping us make the most of our stay. Great location. So close to fabulous restaurants and shopping. Difficult to find but Our host assisted us. He also arranged transportation to and from the beach which we really appreciated.

Furio's apartment is so lovely and in a great location, but the real bonus is how hospitable and helpful Furio was during our stay. From picking us up at the bus stop to helping us with dinner reservations, it could not have been a nicer stay!

Property was as described. Excellent location, with good beds and amenities. Our host/owner Furio was responsive and offered excellent advice. Train station was a short drive for travel to Siracusa and later to Salerno. Easy access to Etna wine region and nearby towns. We stayed 3 nights which was our only regret as we should have stayed longer.

My friend and I traveled in Sicily for two weeks and stayed at VRBO properties. Furio was a wonderful host. He picked us up at the train station and dropped us off at the end of our stay. Going over and above what’s required! It was our favorite stay. The apartment is beautiful. Stylish roomy, and comfortable. And a great location. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone and hope to be able to return.

The space is very comfortable with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Furio was so kind to pick us up at the train station on arrival. There were all the things you need for a comfortable stay including coffee, water and a bottle of wine. The view from the bedrooms and patio is magnificant! Location is perfect, right above the main street. We will definitely share with friends.

Spending four magical days in Taormina in the comforts of a wonderful apartment is a great way to experience this part of Sicily. The apartment is clean and comfortable and the views were amazing. Our host Furio made check-in a seamless process. He even picked us up at the train station. And his wife offered restaurant suggestions and other bits of information to help us find our way through the town. It was a perfect stay. Eat the pasta and gelato because you’ll burn calories walking the steps.

This is a pretty 2BR/2BA apartment at the top of the hillside town of Taormina. That means lots of steps, but not unmanageable. I have mobility ‘issues’ but I was able to manage with just some discomfort. Once you walk down to the main drag, it’s flat; going to the beach is another story. Furio gave us lots of good information, and the car park service he uses was VERY prompt and friendly.

Furio was such a great host. He met us by the bus stop and drove us up to his place. His place was so inviting and the bed was super comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and there is a patio to enjoy the view and atmosphere of Taormina. The Continental Restaurant is right across the street for you to have a wonderful breakfast with spectacular views. As an added bonus, Furio drove us to the train station on the day of our departure. Thank you for making our stay extra special.

Our wonderful host Furio could not have been more helpful, so thoughtful welcoming us with a bottle of Etna Red Wine. Location was superb, easy to access everything. Furio took care of our car, helped with local restaurants and pointed us in the right direction to experience amazing Arancini.

Furio/Paula were fabulous, attentive, generous hosts, providing clear pre-instructions: greeting us on arrival in the rain, arranging our parking & explaining all the apartment details, including its delightful history! They also booked us a great dinner spot and introduced us to one of the Etna wineries. The apartment is beautifully restored and well-maintained, with the location uber-convenient, about 50 steps above "the main drag" (Corso Umberto), near Porta Catania, offering walking distance to explore all the town's key locations, including the Greek Theatre & Chiesa Madonna della Rocca. We were able to enjoy buffet breakfast at the hotel opposite, with the apartment kitchen also modern & well-stocked. The Balcony is great for evening Negroni's. Only issue: wifi speed is very slow.

My family (myself, husband, daughter, and son-in-law) are avid travelers. On our current Italy/Sicily vacation we had stayed in 6 cities and apartments prior to Taormina. Furio was the best host we have ever experienced in a rental apartment.
As requested, we called Furio as we were arriving in Taormina. He met us at the top of the street and walked (as we drove) to the apartment. We took our luggage from our car and he then had a valet park it off site (parking is very limited in town). Furio then accompanied us in his beautifully decorated apartment and made suggestions for meals and sightseeing (all turned out to be excellent). While still in the apartment he made reservations for us and made arrangements for transportation!!!

Taormina is a town on a hill. You need to walk up or down steep steps to get to shops or restaurants, but the apartment is centrally located.
We will definitely book again with Furio on our next trip to Taormina!!!!

We cannot rave enough about our stay here. Our hosts were absolutely the nicest people and most helpful. The description of location, home, and amenities were spot on.
We cannot wait to come back and bring friends. The hosts gave us two wonderful restaurants to enjoy and they were amazing. We enjoyed vino on the patio with views from the home of Mt. Etna. We are so pleased our paths crossed with this couple.

The apartment was perfect for our trip. Located just minutes from all the hustle and bustle of Taormina but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful as well. It was well equipped and had the comfiest beds and great air conditioning. Furio was the best host we have ever come across in a Vrbo rental. He picked us up from the train station when we arrived, gave us great info on all the local restaurants and places to visit, arranged a day for us at a local beach lido and finally dropped us back to the station at the end of our stay. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone visiting this beautiful part of Sicily.

The apartment is beautifully appointed with decor in-keeping with Taormina. The location is perfect close enough to the centre but far enough to relax.

The apartment is very clean and beds very comfortable. There is a well equipped kitchen. Across the road, down the steps and you are in Corso Umberto, the main thoroughfare. A very good supermarket is not far away. The amphitheatre is a must-see. We were lucky to see an opera whilst we were there. The public gardens are wonderful and entry is free. We didn’t do any excursions as the weather was extremely hot and it was lovely to get back to the air-conditioned apartment after a stroll or lunch in town. Furio, the owner is extremely helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending the apartment.

We loved this apartment stay! The host (Furio) was prompt, friendly, helpful and informative. The apartment is close (less than 5 minute walk) to the main road with all restaurants, shops, cafes, etc. Host supplied coffee, welcome drinks, and had the basic kitchen supplies if you want to eat in. I assume most people eat out as the restaurants are plentiful in the area,
but we made a few basic meals so essential kitchen supplies were appreciated.
Half hour walk to beach down and you can take cable car up.
We drove rental car and used the valet service ($20 euro per day) which actually was good value vs. Parking in the parkade ($40 euro per day). Plus,The roads are so narrow and busy. We found we really did not need our car while we were in Taormina anyways.
Furio also gave us great recommendations for things to do and where to eat.
Would recommend this rental highly.

My friend and I found the Badia Vecchia Apt was spacious and a perfect place for our five day visit. The location was very convenient to get to town, the views from the windows were magnificent, and our hosts were so helpful in getting us situated and providing recommendations for dinner. Felt very safe there. We did have a car with us which our host was able to provide a pickup/drop off service for 20 euros a day. I definitely would go back there again. And Antonio who was our host for our stay was so friendly and made the trip to Taormina even more memorable.

We very much enjoyed our stay and the location. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom had a wonderful view. Furio, the owner and host gave us excellent suggestions and helped us to find parking for our car. You really don’t need a car however, as we only used it once during our week long stay of one week. There is laundry o few doors down from the flat that was convenient.

First of all Taormina was mind blowingly beautiful. Furio's place was just a short walk to the main street and he was more than willing to help us with directions, ideas, parking. He responds quickly to any questions... he takes great pride in his place.
His place was pristine and exactly as promised. We were 2, but 4 could stay easily.
We roamed the streets of Taoromina, but also went to see Etna and then did a wine tasting at Gambino.

This apartment is incredible! Beautiful furnishings and fantastic location. Furio provides a one-of-a-kind experience with excellent recommendations. He is very proud of Taormina and he can tell you some of the history if you wish to know. He has a connection with a lido in Letojanni where we went to spend a day at the beach! Furio’s property is an absolute hidden gem. Located just steps away from shops and restaurants, but far enough to be a quiet sanctuary after a long day. The apartment is spacious, and was the cleanest short term rental I have ever stayed in. Furio goes to great lengths to ensure the stay is comfortable, and gives great local insight in to Taormina. We are already planning our return!

The only issue we had with our stay in Taormina is it wasn’t long enough! Furio is a wonderful host, he was extremely helpful in the days leading up to our arrival, during the stay and even as we departed. He answered all of our questions and even some we didn’t think of . Thanks so much Furio!
