About this apartment rental
Beautiful 3 bedroom, family friendly apartment in the heart of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. A 10 minute walk from the village centre, Chalet Black comfortably sleeps 7 adults and provides the perfect base for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. The apartment is in the last chalet of the village so has uninterrupted views down the valley from the generous balcony.
In winter, the free bus service runs from the end of the road and gives easy access to either Stechelberg (for the Mürren/Schilthorn ski region) and Lauterbrunnen (for the Kleine Scheidegg/Jungfrau ski region). There is also a cross-country skiing (Langlauf) track that running along the Luterbach river at the side of the apartment. In summer, the hiking possibilities are endless along well marked 'Wanderwege' or if that all sounds too strenuous, feel free to while away long lazy afternoons on the sunny balcony.
The apartment has been furnished to a very high standard with quality Swiss beds, stainless steel appliances, Nespresso machine, flat screen TV (with cable channels in multiple languages, including English), Apple TV and iPhone docks. The kitchen is well stocked with good quality cooking utensils, crockery etc and there is both a fondue set and raclette machine as well as a slow cooker. The apartment has excellent wireless broadband and local tourist taxes are all included in the price (at some other places this is extra).
Oh, and did I mention, we have the best view in the whole of Lauterbrunnen ...
The rates quoted are for 6 people staying. A 7th person can be accommodated, sleeping on the very comfortable sofa bed in the lounge room. This will attract an additional charge (added during the booking process) of £25 per night or £150 per week. There is no additional charge if the 7th person is a baby under the age of 1 (a cot is available on request).

Outstanding property! All was as described online. Very clean. Kitchen was well stocked to cook in. Location 3 minutes from the bus stop. Very comfortable beds and feather pillows. Shower pressure was great. Diane was very easy to communicate with. Only issue was the first 10 days without a working washer and dryer, but that was soon remedied with new appliances. I would definitely stay here again!! Incredible view!!

An absolutely incredible place! Our group of 4 adults and 2 children were completely comfortable there. Fairy tale view topped everything. This is the very best home ever rented in all our years of travel!
Roomy living area with very adequate kitchen, table for 6-8, equipped with TV and sound equipment. Bedrooms comfortably sized, lots of storage. One large bathroom - 2 sinks, huge tub with shower, washer/dryer. 2nd bathroom completely adequate with a large shower. Great balcony - loveseat, chair, and table for 6, along with a grill So awesome to sit out on a nice cool morning, with a cup of Nespresso coffee, and listen to distant cowbells and chirping birds, while admiring the Alps - heaven!
The hostess is a lovely, responsive, thoughtful person - many nice touches throughout - stocked with an initial supply of coffee and tea along with various soaps – dish, dishwasher, laundry. A bookshelf stocked with novels, travel books and games. Perfect linens for a good night’s sleep.
Path to the river is right in front of the chalet and goes by a base-jumping facility, over the river to an amazing RV park/excellent restaurant, to Staubach Falls, almost all the way up the valley. Farm fridge just a short distance away! If taking a helicopter tour, their base is conveniently nearby. Incredibly easy to get almost anywhere.

If you want to stay in Lauterbrunnen, this is 100% the place to stay. I stayed here with my wife and 2 teenage daughters and it was perfect. All appliances worked great and the rooms were very spacious. While the apartment was great, the best part is we counted 7 waterfalls while sitting on the deck. Sitting on that deck is very relaxing and you can see for miles. PLUS the host Diane was unbelievably accommodating and very fast to respond when I had a few unexpected requests. She is amazing to work with.
As for location, it is a very short 5 minute walk to the Lauterbrunnen which goes by so quickly b/c of all the sites to see including Staubbachfall waterfalls. There is a canal with crystal clear water and the Weisse Lütschine river only about 200 feet from the apartment.
We will return to Lauterbrunnen and when we do, we will absolutely stay here again.

The location of the place was ideal for hiking and getting to many attractions in the area. We enjoyed being out of town where one could enjoy the falls and river. Accommodations had everything we needed and the bus took you from the rails basically to the doorsteps of the place. Would stay there again.

Location, location location!!! Youd be hard pressed to find as nice an apartment in such an amazing location! The apartment has everything you need. The kitchen was well supplied, beds and pillows were comfortable and many amenities were provided. The best part however was the balcony. The location gives you a full unobstructed view of the Lauterbrunnen valley with all of its waterfalls, cows, goats and mountains. We were there for 5 nights and it was so hard to leave. The hiking trails and bus stop are right out your door. We walked to town most days. I would come back again and recommend it to my friends !!

The property was exactly as described! Situated in Lauterbrunnen Valley with stunning views and a bonus of delightful goats next door to entertain us each morninq! The property was clean and the host left a very detailed book with instructions to help our stay go smoothly. The host provided detailed check in directions and her contact info and was responsive to our one question. The property was 1 minute away from the public bus stop and the valley walking trail and about a 5 minute walk from a great restaurant! We were a group of 3 adult couples and it was perfect!

The home was very clean and had everything we needed. Our family of 6 slept comfortably there. The location is amazing, you just can’t beat the view from the deck. One of the most beautiful places in the world. Our teenagers loved it!

We were in town for our first visit to Switzerland and this was the perfect choice for our group of 4 including a 5 year old. The host Diane was always prompt with communications in answering any questions as well as working with us on a change on the stay dates. Diane was rated a Premier Host on the listing and she proved to us why she carries that rating. The property was exactly as described and the perfect location (incredible view right next to the waterfalls), wonderful condition (cleanliness, nice furniture, location - within 20 minute walk to the end of town, etc.) of the apartment made our stay an amazing memory.

What an amazing property! Location is fantastic (Very close to the town) with buses, and train station close by (Walking distance) The view from your balcony is out of this world!

We absolutely loved our stay at Diane’s place. The bus stop is a two minute walk to the main road which gives you access to the whole valley. The accommodations were great, everything we could have ever wanted. I recommend this place!

Location at the edge of town was amazing! It was also just across the parking lot from the bus stop and so extremely convenient when relying on public transportation. Perfect!

Stunning view from the porch with comfortable outdoor furniture was the setting for our Happy Hour celebrations.
The home is lovely, comfortable and well- appointed.
Diane was always helpful and even warned us about a marathon in town that could have caused transportation or access issues.

Diane's chalet was absolutely amazing, truely without any fault.
We were a family group of 7 (4 adults and 3 children), there was plenty of space for all of us. Everything was spotlessly clean, beds and pillows were all comfy, plenty of storage space. There was nothing missing, kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and much more. Plenty of cooking basics like oil, herbs, tea, coffee etc.
Lauterbrunnen and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning, so much to see and do.
Diane's chalet has uninterrupted views down the valley. The pictures on the listing are amazing but even better for real! The location is perfect, just a short scenic route into Lauterbrunnen where you can access railways and cable car, there is also a bus stop very close but we always chose to walk.
Parking was easy and there was also a garage.
We all had an amazing holiday and would love to stay in Diane's chalet again.

This is a spacious, modern, beautifully furnished, and impeccably clean 3BR apartment with tasteful decor and an absolutely breathtaking view down the Lauterbrunnen Valley! The kitchen was well-equipped and offered everything we needed to have leisurely breakfasts in the morning and cook the occasional dinner on evenings when were not dining out. The house rules/instruction booklet was excellent, giving us instructions on all important matters relating to our stay (WiFi, TV, laundry, hot water, trash disposal, etc.). We also greatly appreciated the organized file folder with brochures, maps, and trail guides for the surrounding area. The apartment is centrally located and a great base from which to explore surrounding towns and attractions, including Muerren, Gimmelwald, Allmenhubel, Wengen, Grindelwald, Grütschalp, Stechelberg, and the Thunersee. It's also close to the base station for the Schilthorn cable car. Our day trip to the Schilthorn was truly a highlight of our visit! The scenery on the way up to the summit and from the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant with 360 degree views on a sunny clear day were spectacular!
Diane is a wonderful host who communicated with us before our arrival and answered any questions we had. We would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a base to explore the magnificent Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Berner Oberland. It was an unforgettable week for our family!

We loved our time in Lauterbrunnen! And we appreciated the quieter side of things as compared to some of the other nearby towns. This property is excellent and as described - the apartment was very clean and comfortable. Our teenagers enjoyed having their own rooms, everything was well-appointed, and the view out the kitchen/living room/deck is spectular. There is right-out-your door access to trails for hiking, running, and exploring. We arrived via train and found no need to have a car while there. The Imboden bike shop in downtown Lauterbrunnen was great for bike rentals. This apartment is just past a large campground, and we found the campground store and restaurant to be helpful resources when we didn't want to walk a little further to get to the coop and restaurants in town. The fresh baked rolls at the camp store became our go-to breakfast for the week. Communications with Diane were prompt and check in/out was easy. Overall, a great place to stay - we hope to return in summer again, or in winter for skiing. Thank you, Diane!

The property is just stunning on every level. Great location on the edge of Lauterbrunnen with the most spectacular views.
It is around a 20 minute pleasant walk in to the Town or a short bus ride, with the bus stop 2 mins from the property.
The property is very well equipped and a true home from home, beautiful comfortable furniture, the kitchen and breakfast bar is just great and the dining and balcony offer you so many different options to relax and dine.
For the evenings we were at the apartment the TV had a great selection of international channels, for all to enjoy.
Great for families to enjoy time together or couple of have a quiet retreat.
Our host Diane was wonderful and easily contactable, giving great advice and guidance on the local area's and beyond.
The Jungfrau Camp site is located about a 5 minute walk away, with a lovely friendly bar and shops.
Very peaceful at night and offers true rest after a busy day walking in the mountains.
A little gem we did find was Spa Day at the Hotel Eiger in Murren for 34CHF per person. So we had a day off walking and just watched the mountains and views from the pool.
We had a fabulous stay and will hopefully visit again in the future.

This property was phenomenal with an exceptional view that was hard to leave. The location is great and makes getting to lots of tours and sites around the area very easy. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Switzerland and looking for a peaceful location with postcard-like views.

Four friends stayed in Diane’s rental for four nights in April. We arrived late the first night and were all anxious for the sun to come up so we could finally see this view in person! Well, it is spectacular! The pictures do not do it justice!
The apartment was very clean and well appointed. One of my favorite things was the supply of games and cards for those nights after you are finished sightseeing.
The location is right off the schectelberg bus stop and easy access to the village, either walking or by bus.
Communication with Diane, either by message or by phone, was prompt.
I will recommend our sweet apartment everytime I have the opportunity, and hope to stay again one day!

Our experience at Chez Black was fabulous. We were a group of two couples and had more than adequate space for sleeping, preparing meals and relaxing. Perfectly located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley with exceptional views of the Alps. The pictures that, our host, Diane Black has on her listing do not do the view justice. I don't think any photograph can. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO and other rentals, and this ranks among the best for pure comfort and convenience. A fully stocked kitchen with more than adequate cookware, plates, glasses, flatware, spices and seasonings, aluminum foil, plastic bags, etc. I most especially appreciate the sharp knives for food prep (there were plenty along with a knife sharpener) and the (N)espresso machine. Diane provides a good supply of capsules, but if everyone drinks espresso, and you want only (N)espresso capsules, I suggest you bring some from home. (N)espresso compatible capsules are available at the grocery store in Lauterbrunnen and the various stores down the valley in Interlaken. Diane provides excellent instruction on finding and entering Chateau Black. If you lack a car, the rail and bus service to and in the valley are excellent and run with Swiss precision. The Schützenbach bus stop is literally a 2 minute walk from the front door. Diane also provides a complete instruction manual for the chateau along with suggestions for things to do. If the idea of board games interest your group, there are plenty. Children's games, books of all interests (most in English), to fill a cold night. Finally, Bose sound stations and a large flatscreen TV with a steaming service round out the in-house entertainment options. All that said, it is the physical beauty of the valley that attracts. And this is the best place to experience it. We will return again.

It would be very hard to beat this amazing rental in an amazing location in an amazing little corner of Switzerland. It's very comfortable, modern, has plenty of space and everything you need, but nothing compares to the spectacular uninterrupted view up the valley from the balcony. That's the no. 1 reason to stay here!
Aside from that benefit, we really liked the location being on the fringes of the village, away from the crowds a little bit, but also right on the footpath that takes you there in a few minutes.
We did have a query to the owner during our week (looking for another set of linens), and she was very quick and helpful in getting back to me.

Super nice condo in Lauterbrunnen.
This condo is great for two couples. The entire area is awesome and the view from the condo is very beautiful. The bus stop is very close however it’s an easy walk to town along the river. We have been to Lauterbrunnen 3 times and wouldn’t hesitate to book this condo again.

the location of the chalet is perfect with great, uninterrupted views into the valley up to the mountains at the end of this, including a number of waterfalls. The house is well-equipped with good quality kitchen apparel, well maintained bathrooms, and firm beds. It is an easy walking (or biking) distance into town and a perfect getaway place to stay for hiking and biking tours or swimming/kanooing around Wengen, Murs, Grindelwald, the Jungfraujoch, the lakes around Interlaken, etc., in fact, better located than any of these places, we believe (less touristy, easier to move around, etc). As we arrived with one person more than anticipated, we found the owner (on the phone) very helpful in providing us with some additional bedlinen; great service. Therefore, highly recommended!

Wonderful apartment, beautiful view and location - perfect vacation!
We loved our stay at Chalet Black. It was perfect for the two of us, our two young children, and my mother. It was the last week of a three week trip and the well furnished, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped apartment made us feel right at home and fully relaxed! The balcony was wonderful and we spent a lot of time enjoying the amazing view. The bus stop around the corner and the walking path through the valley made getting around a breeze. The small store and great restaurant at Camp Jungfrau (try the Rosti) nearby met all our needs, including fresh morning pastries! We can't recommend a better base for exploring the Bernese Oberland. Wonderful unobstructed view from balcony for morning coffee and evening wine!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the apartment, amenities, and location. It provided a comfortable space with all necessities for cooking. We walked to gondolas for hiking in Gimmelwald and Murren. Walking paths nearby took us to Lauterbrunnen. Local bus stop was close for catching train to Wengen. Waterfalls fell on either side. After rain, we had six waterfalls dropping from cliffs. We relished our view each morning with coffee and each evening with wine after a full day of hiking and exploring. Would love to return someday!

Far and away the best!
We stayed as a family to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. The apartment is perfectly appointed with no detail missed. It was so clean, that it felt like a new house.
Diane went out of our way to ensure that dad had a special birthday, by organising his cake from the local bakery and Prosecco in readiness for our arrival.
The setting is perfect for beautiful views of the valley.

Heavenly view in deluxe accommodations!
The chalet apartment far exceeded our expectations . It was more spacious than pictures can depict and well-appointed, even down to our favorite item...a raclette maker! When we had guests and six persons were there, it did not feel crowded and all had privacy. Diane was very accommodating for our needs with linens, etc. Lauterbrunnen has to be one of the most beautiful villages on earth and we hope to return!

Wow what an apartment!
Rarely have we been in an apartment which is so well equipped. Everything you needed for a self catering holiday was provided even down to the toilet paper!! We have self catered for many many years and there is always something that isn't there, but Chalet Black had thought of everything. The apartment was also spotlessy clean with good quality appliances, equipment and furnishings. Communication with the owner was very smooth and pleasant. Finally the view. This apartment has the most beautiful uninterrupted view of the mountains which you can enjoy from the generous balcony. It is a short walk along the river to Lauterbrunnen and there are countless attractions to visit from the apartment. I would certainly recommend this property without hesitation.
