About this villa rental
Villa Danai enjoys a most appealing location, looking directly out to the island capital, vibrant harbour and sparkling sea. Nearby beaches include Glyfoneri (2.5km) and Glysteri (5km), while the upper part of Skopelos Town with its little bars and restaurants as well as steps that bring you right down to the harbour front, is just 2.3km.
The elevated location of Danai offers up the fascinating panorama of Skopelos Town below, which has gradually evolved from a picturesque Greek fishing village to be the capital of the island, whilst retaining an unspoilt ambience and laid back charm. Whitewashed houses spread up the hillside from the port with bright red roof tops clashing specatularly with the cobalt blue of the Mediterranean Sea behind.
The impressive exterior, a mix of exposed stone, slate roof tiles and dazzlingly whitewash facade, blends seamlessly with the spacious terraces, where the sea views act as backdrop for breakfast or lunch around the pool. Scattered about the pool terrace, Grecian urns filled with colourful geraniums sit alongside olive trees, creating an air of tranquillity and harmony.
With an assured touch, the interiors are modern and fresh, creating a stylish, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. On the ground floor, both contemporary and traditional influences can be seen in the décor and the generous living space has doors opening onto the front/dining terrace. The ground floor twin bedroom also opens onto the front terrace and enjoys similarly impressive vistas as the two double bedrooms on the first floor, each benefitting from the balcony in front - a lovely spot for an evening aperitif.
At the top of the town is the Kastro area (2.5km) where a handy mini-market, pretty coffee-bars and tavernas provide the perfect spot to view the ferries, yachts and fishing boats sailing into the colourful port. Getting out and about, a wealth of fantastic sandy beaches await; close to home Aghios Konstantinos (2km) is the nearest beach, just five minutes drive, whilst Glysteri beach (5km) and Glyfoneri with beach tavernas (4km) are close by.
Travelling north through the island, discover Milia and Kastani Beaches on the west coast, both fringed by pinewoods, enjoying crystal clear waters and perfect for snorkelling. Panormos and Agnondas ports have waterfront tavernas, the latter with a jetty haphazardly jutting into the water, so fishing is often the sport of the day, accompanied by a few tall tales over a cold beer about the ones that got away! Not forgetting Skopelos Town itself, which has a large selection of eateries, from simple tavernas hidden away in the narrow back streets to the impressive fish restaurants on the harbour front, serving up fish appestisers to the early hours.
One of the best things about this green, beautiful island is wandering along the timeless paths and tracks marked out by sheep and shepherds over the centuries, to explore the crumbling monasteries, blossoming plum orchards, abundant olive groves and hidden coves and bays.
An unusual plus for a stay on Skopelos is that it acts as the base for the National Marine Park, the biggest nature water reserve in Europe. It protects the Mediterranean Monk Seal as well as a whole host of sea birds, turtles and marine mammals, dolphins and whales. Boat trips can be organised to explore the seas and tiny islets shimmering in the noon day sun.

We highly recommend staying at Villa Danai! The view is amazing and the house is great. The owners are lovely and even assisted us in getting our luggage from and to the ferry dock.

We had an amazing stay at this Villa. Communication was excellent and the Villa was wonderful. The outside space is just breathtaking and the pool lovely. The drive up to the villa is up a mountain road which, for those not used to driving in Greek Islands, is a little nerve racking but you get used to it and it is worth it to stay in such a wonderful place. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

The villa is absolutely stunning and was perfect for 6 adults. Superb location, lovely and quiet but only a 10 minute drive (or less) into Skopelos Town. Villa was very well equipped and very spacious, including the pool and garden area. Our host, Lia, literally couldn’t do enough for us! She helped us organise hire cars and quads, left is wine, fruit and biscuits for our arrival and gave us a lift back to the port with our luggage on the last day. A lovely lady cleaned the villa multiple times during our stay, including the pool. We will certainly be returning!

Amazing amazing views, up super high on the hill. A 4x4 is an absolute must (the owners have a hire car company which is very handy!) as the walk up is very challenging. However if you are super fit, Lia will give you the number of a supermarket that will deliver. We had a wonderful week and hired a boat with Captain George, Fedra Cruises, which was magical, diving off the boat and lazing in the sun. Skopelos Town is charming with smart local shops and incredibly friendly people. Our favourite bar was The Hidden Door, smothered in Jasmine and serving top notch cocktails. The villa owners were very helpful! Thank you!

The Danai Villa is beautiful which had everything we needed and more, it was cleaned twice a week by the lovely Nina who changed all the bedding and gave us clean towels (including pool towels). The pool is big and kept the kids entertained for hours. The views across skopelos are stunning. The villa is up a long dirt track but it’s worth the short trek to find yourselves in such a fantastic private position with goats in the side garden. We found a short cut so we could walk to the port...going down took us about 15 minutes and it’s a lovely walk although coming back up was a little harder in the heat! I have already recommended this villa to family and friends and if we ever visit the stunning island of skopelos again would not hesitate to re book. The owners Lia and Nikos could not do enough for us even turning up with a beautiful birthday cake as we had a birthday whilst we were out there. Nikos also runs a car rental shop in the port so we hired a car from him and he gave us his personal mobile number for us to ring any time if we had any problems or questions....if ever we did need anything someone would be with us in 10 minutes. We really couldn’t have asked for more and anyone who stays here will not be disappointed.
