Eten was heerlijk.

Everything was perfect! Our host was amazing! He arranged transportation, volcano hike, and meals. He made us feel so welcome and comfortable.
Nothing.

This was probably the most unique location that I've ever stayed at. It's in the middle of an active volcano! We spent one day exploring the area with one of the hotel's guides. We spent our second day just relaxing and taking in the scenery. They were both great ways to enjoy the volcano. We also loved that we could see so many stars each night.
There was a bit of a language barrier when we trying to select a tour option. If you don't speak Portuguese, definitely ask to see the written version of the tour offerings.

This is a unique experience to stay in the volcanic caldeira on Fogo. The lava is still warm in places. You can stay in the traditional round houses with a roof terrace. The owner is a nice person and very helpful. Dinners and breakfast are good too. At night you can see all the stars.

We had a wonderful stay! Mustafa and his teams were great. They really pay attention to each guest and try to find ways to accomodate them. They have an excellent knowledge of all the different hikes you can do or other sports (via ferrata, bike, etc.) and help you find the appropriate guide for you. The food is tasty and with good ingredients. I would go back again.

Casa Marisa is located inside the impressive Caldeira of Fogo. A very special and unique place. The bungalows and patio are lovely. Mustafa is very helpful and may organise guides for hiking tours and Marisa surely is one of the best cooks of the island. We spent a wonderful time and had a lot of fun with a group of portugese people staying there at the same time. Don´t miss watching the stars at night time! Hint: believe Mustafa if he tells you that bungalow #10 has 40°C even at night!

Staying in the Caldeira was amazing. Casa Marisa is cosy, well-decorated and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Elias took us on a hike to Pico Grande. He knows a lot about the area and speaks very good French.

The magma heated floor was crazy! Such cute little bungalows and the view of the stars was amazing.
Perhaps a chalkboard in the restaurant to display the menu as we never knew quite what we were getting! (Food was amazing though!)

Unique hotel complex in the crater of Fogo volcano. Amazing hospitality and support from the hotel staff and owners. Mustapha is a very interesting person, committed to continuously improve the quality of the premises, services and community on the island. Warm welcome and pick up, delicious food, warm homey atmosphere and an excellent hike to Fogo volcano - just some of the things that made the stay memorable and very special. Thank you! Дзякуй!
Wish to have stayed longer!

Unique location for unforgettable hikes.
Positive thing: They arrange everything from a to z. So no worries for the taxi, breakfast, piquenique, diner, guide... and all comes in one final bill.
We stayed with 4 in a quit basic bungalow (f.e. only a glass door between room and bathroom) but it is part of the adventure ;-) These stays are the one's that give you everlasting memories.
Compliments for the food; it's quite exceptionel.
If you expect a fancy hotelroom with all the modern day comfort... it's best to go elsewere...

Our hosts were very reactive and amazingly nice and helpful
confort of the beds
property of the room: we had an invasion of insects and a problem to lock our door
no boiling water option would be appreciated as there is no hot water in the village
restaurant is not very good, all our dishes were very very salty.
quantities are generous though but prices are above what we were used to in Cabo Verde

Great place to stay for volcano trip and climbing, Mariza and Moustafa can organize everything for you, give you all the information, and all the staff is super nice. We really enjoyed our stay. The bungalows are cute, great views of the volcano, you have your own rooftop, everything is decorated with love and care; would definitely recommend to stay here one night instead of just during the day! Also really good food and they adapted to my vegetarian diet ;)

The perfect choice for viewing the volcano. Wondering experience and beautiful landscapes.
The staff are nice and friendly especially Francesco. We like him a lot. He is very attentive and service from his heart. We stayed three nights there, did two hiking tour with them. Nezito is an very experienced hiking guide and the price is reasonable.
The volcano view is right in front of you when you wake up in the morning and it’s stunning.
The breakfast is too simple. But I know that we cannot expect more as it’s in a small village on the mountain. Lunch and dinner, I highly recommend the chicken dish. It’s like chinese style with sauce. Very very delicious.
The shower is weak and not enough hot water.
The toilet leaks and wet on the floor most of the time.
The curtains are too thin, not perfect for long sleepers.
Some rooms are very hot, luckily March isn’t that hot and we are lucky to have the cooler rooms.

Marisa and her Cousine could compete for Michelin star :). If you are staying in Casa Marisa or not you should get a meal there. It is not the cheapest one, but it is definetely the best one on the Island.

Marisa and Mustafa are amazing hosts. They have a great network and can organise everthing from transport to activities, even on short notice with a fair price. You should come and see this unique spot, and I strongly recommend to stay at Casa Marisa to make the best of it!

Great place to stay in the caldera. I was in one of the, African style houses. Comfortable and basic. Excellent location. Mustafa gave great suggestions for hikes that could begin from the Casa. He arranged a very qualified guide to accompany me to the top of the volcano. He was very responsive to my emails before arrival. He arranged a car to meet me at the port when I arrived from Brava. His wife and co-owner Maritza with her staff prepares excellent meals. The dining hall is spacious with a warm floor heated by the subterranean lava. There are many maps to account for the recent eruptions. Mustapha speaks excellent English and German as well as Turkish. The lodge rose again on a new site after the 2014 eruption.
I regretted leaving when I had to leave. I was having such a great conversation with Mustafa about the state of the world.
