Overall, would stay here again! My fiancé and I stayed here with two other couples for a week. There was enough space for everyone to have privacy but great communal areas when we all wanted to be together. The outside patio area of the main house is amazing and the view is spectacular! The downstairs bedroom in the main house does not have a door, but we actually found that to not be an issue-sounds didn’t really travel in the house. There is no bathroom on the bottom floor, however (the closest bathroom is on the main level where the kitchen and living room are), so keep that in mind. The fireplaces in the main house were not working during our stay, which was a bummer, and we weren’t given much advance notice about that. Hopefully, they will have those working again soon. The smaller house is super cute and cozy and the fireplace worked great in there. The large bed in the smaller house wasn’t very comfortable (seemed to not have great supports in place), so FYI. But, overall, we had an amazing time and would stay here again!

The million-dollar view speaks for itself.
The house has great bones, but the lack of maintenance was very depressing for me. To have such beautiful surroundings, and stay in a home that shows no pride of ownership was sad.
One bathroom the plumbing was scattered all around the tub with a sticky note, mentioning that the tub was out of service. The living room rug looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for quite some time and has many stains
The beautiful deck had pots on it, that were rusted out on the bottom and falling apart. This beautiful place could be absolutely stunning if it was maintained properly and should be marketed as a “Weathered 70s cabin on a cliff, rustic never maintained” If you like to take a vacation and experience a home that hasn’t been maintained since the 1970s this would be a great place for you to take a vacation. Definitely over priced for considering the lack of care and attention to detail.

We loved the house and had a great stay. Rustic but comfortable - artistically hand crafted architecture with stunning views all around. It's a connected duplex with two kitchens. The house was clean and well stocked. The little town of Elk is about 1/2 mile south. Couldn't get the large TV going tho and didn't get any help when we called. That aside, we would highly recommend this property.

Compared to our previous stay during the pandemic this
stay found the house less well supplied and cleaned.

BREATH TAKING & STUNNING
My partner and I absolutely loved our stay here. The architecture of the home is remarkable. The quaint town and the secluded beaches are just a short walk away. Directly in front of the home are rolling hills sprinkled with redwood trees. The real prize is the large deck at the back that overlooks a cove with crashing waves. There really is nothing like it! Don't hesitate - just say yes to booking this place!

Beautiful stay in Elk
This is a wonderful house, with great views and outdoor spaces and comfortable inside. We rented both the main house and the guest house. The kitchens are well equipped and the wood fireplaces added a nice feel. Some minor issues were handled quickly by the housekeeper staff. And Elk is a charming little town, a short drive from Mendocino.

Elk house
The location and the view are amazing. There were plenty of appliances and spices, etc. in the kitchen. The house itself is built very strangely where there's no bathroom in the downstairs bedroom and the stairways are narrow and kind of risky to come down with no real hand railing. The lights are too dim and not enough at night time. The house is advertised as three bedrooms and three bathrooms but it's misleading because there are two houses, the main house has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and the guest house has one bedroom with a loft and a bathroom .

The view is very nice and pretty. We loved sitting in the patio and watching the waves and the birds and the sky. The house has all the kitchen appliances needed and then some.
But the house is built very strange, the downstairs bedroom doesn't have a bathroom and you have to come on the main floor to use the bathroom. The stairways are narrow and kind of dangerous. The lighting in the house was definitely not enough.

Great house even with 6 & 8 yr olds!
Loved this house. It's a fun setting for a big family. The decks are open to a gorgeous and dramatic view of the coast. Plenty of tables, lounge chairs, umbrellas and gas heaters in case it gets a bit chill at night.
