We really enjoyed our stay with our kids and friends. Tony was really helpful and gave us a lot of information for our stay. We can really recommend it.

We had a fabulous 2 weeks at the villa. We enjoyed lazy days by the pool during the hot daytimes. The Villa is well situated for visiting typical Abruzzo villages and the Trabocchi coast. The villa has everything you need for your holiday and was ample big enough for 6 adults and 3 children. The sunsets from the balcony were beautiful! Having aircon in the bedrooms was such a great addition during the hot evenings. Tony’s instructions and communication throughout the whole process was fantastic, so helpful! Antonio checked in on us and made sure we had all that we needed. Tina, the cleaner, gave us lots of recommendations for places to visit and places to eat! Would highly recommend this villa if you’re after a real piece of Abruzzo in the countryside.

A clean nice house with everything you need. The pool is great. The host is friendly and helps you with any problems or questions.

House clean, mosquito window nets broken upstairs, window security upstairs for children?, top floor bathroom window broken, outside patio needed good sweep as waterbomb balloons scattered about as they were on balcony. Mop not functional, bbq not useable(dirty) although brick/charcoal bbq excellent and one lounger broken, although promptly replaced. Could do with house name on house as road name not on all satnavs.
Despite minor comments above a brilliant holiday enjoyed by all with good facilities, private/secluded good security, accommodation, pool, Castel Frentano has all you need but Conad supermarket not far away in Lanciano and the jewel in the crown Antonio ( local knowledge advice and his cooking)

Fully equipped house with great garden and pool
Lovely stay in a 3 level house with nice garden and great pool. Fully equipped house with fantastic kitchen. Excellent contacts with owner Tony ( his guide about the house and the region is the best I have ever seen) and with local contact Antonio who is the Italian hospitality in person. The location of the house is great, halfway beach and mountains, and close to the city of Lanciano. Recommended!

Authentic italy
We had a fantastic stay in castel frentano. The house pool and outdoor spaces were fantastic and it was a nice walk into town. The view from the upstairs balcony was amazing and Antonio was very helpful.
We loved the amazing villages of Abruzzo and the fact that it wasn’t over run with tourists.
We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely week.

Great family venue
Stayed this summer with my sister, two families consisting of 4 adults and 6 children aged between 16 and 7 and the house accomodated us easily. The property was spacious and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Highlight of the holiday was the pool which was in almost constant use hosting many games of water polo and the likes, very good for the younger children who were not strong swimmers as they could still take part in the shallower end of the pool. We were blessed with incredible weather and were very thankful of the air con! Most of our time was spent poolside but we also ventured to the beach Casalbordino, on the first visit the sea was calm, warm and clear and we spent hours in the water swimming and around the rocks watching small fish, the second visit found the sea much rougher and we all had fun in the waves. Local Oasi supermarket in Lanciano was great for supplies and gelato, the staff were very friendly and spoke fantastic English. We stumbled across a local festival in Pretoro in which the hill top village is lit up at night and street food and goods are sold along the winding roads which twist up through the town, it was a very honest look at modern Italy celebrating its old traditions, Thoroughly enjoyed out trip.

Holiday home Casa Trastulli in Castel Frentano
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Trastulli in Castel Frentano. The property is a lovely spacious house with two bedrooms on both second and third floors; a cosy lounge, dinning room and well equipped kitchen on the ground floor. Possibly better equipped that most properties we have stayed in France, Spain and Portugal before. We made good use of the kitchen and the BBQ outside in the lovely enclosed garden.
A welcome pack was left for us on arrival, which was much appreciated as it was evening when we arrived. Antonio, the Property Manager was on hand to check we were okay and helped us very quickly to address any issues. We had some problems with our shower overheating and he got that sorted out really quickly. He also helps ups find a really good local winery (which we went back to twice!) and even cut my daughter's hair for us (he is also the local barber)! Highly recommend asking him to cook for you, as his 5 course meal was delicious.
The village is only a 15 minute walk and you can find most things there. We ate the most wonderful ice cream in the local Galateria. Be warned huge portions, but highly recommend. The bakery sold wonderful fruit filled croissants and be sure to try the local Bocconotti Montoriesi pastries.
There is lots to do from visiting the wonderful sandy beaches, to going to the Majella National Park to tasting the excellent Abruzzo cuisine and local wine. The list is endless. We loved the Abruzzo region. We will definitely be coming back again.

We were two families with four adults and four children betweeen 6-9 years old. Had a fantastic time at the house, it never felt small, all necessary equipment is there, and it has a very nice standard to it. The knifes in the kitchen would need some sharpening though :)
We enjoyed every moment of the house, the soroundings and the pool of course. Under one hour drive takes you to really nice beaches and mountains. You can do running from the house down in the valleys between all the grape plantations. Stunning views.
Would love to come back again.

We all (seven persons) had a really nice week in Casa Trastulli in the village Castel Frentano. The house was so nice with its four bedrooms with great views, three bathrooms and the well equipped kitchen and dining-room The garden and the swimminpool were perfekt for us. We spent most of the evenings at the house looking at the sunset and often had our dinner at the terrace or the balcony. All of us liked Castel Frentano. We went to the beaches and the small villages by the sea almost every day (about half an hour to drive). We also made a trip to the mountains (Passo Lanciano) and to the beautiful old towns Guardiagrele and Lanciano.
We had a lot of help of the notes, books and maps left in the house.
Thanks to Tony and family!

THE ESSENCE OF ITALY
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful, but less familiar corner of Italy. The villa is perfectly clean, spacious, well appointed and cared for by the helpful Antonio who, as a lifelong village resident, is also a mine of local information. It's a converted old house, so has distinctive character but has been completely refurbished with a nice spacious modern kitchen/dining area - ideal for family meals.
The location on the outskirts of Castle Frentano is perfect, just 20 minutes or so to the coast and some lovely beaches, coves, gelateria and fish restaurants and a similar distance to the mountains with extensive opportunities for trekking, mountain biking and so on. But if you prefer to relax and enjoy rural Italian life with great local wines and farm produce you would struggle to find a more authentic place. There is a brilliant Conad supermarket just 10 minutes away in Lanciano with everything from electrical goods to an unexpected sushi bar (!) but we shopped mostly in Castel Frentano itself, experiencing the delights of the grocery store, the baker on the main street (delicious pizza slices for a picnic) and Antonio the butcher's. And don't forget to try the local sweet cake delicacies - Bocconotto, fantastico! We only had a few days to explore, but there is so much to see in the local area - from picture perfect hilltop medieval towns to immaculate war graves, endless beaches and rugged mountains. This is Italy, unmistakable, timeless, beautiful, hospitable.

Our stay gave us a wonderful taste of Italian life and a chance to truly unwind. The villa was clean, comfortable and authentically furnished with all the home comforts. With only three people we were spoilt for space and so this house would be ideal for larger groups and families too. Outside you have a large terrace with a striking view over to the small village of Castel Frentano, just a short walk away, and the perfect place to enjoy breakfast in the sun or the local vino in the evenings. We spent most of our time outside making use of the large garden, pool and a BBQ. The owners have clearly spent a lot of time in the area and surrounding villages as they passed on a wealth of local knowledge. With their recommendations we found some real gems, particularly the seafood restaurants that are less than 20 minutes away. The local host Antonio met us with a warm welcome and Italian hamper, and was eager to go the extra mile for anything we needed. But the slower pace of Italian life suited us fine. Make sure you try the Bocconotto pastries in the local bakery Bottega, they're famous for a reason! Overall our stay was enjoyable and hassle-free, and we would highly recommend to others visiting the Adriatic coast. We just wished we'd had longer!

We stayed here for a week in September. The villa is huge and sleeps up to ten. It is well equipped and comfortable. The view from the upper terrace towards Castel Frentano is superb, particularly at night. Castel Frentano itself is disappointing as it is very run down and neglected and without much in the way of restaurants. Nearby Lanciano however is a delight, particularly at night. A little further away Guardiagrele is another delightful hill town and both of these towns have good restaurants. The reason for the poor rating is that the swimming pool is not fit for purpose. It is only 8 metres long. We knew that but what I could not have guessed it that it is a paddling pool with a deep end! The shallow end of about one third the total length is barely two feet deep. Any attempt to swim a length will give you grazed knees, arms and feet! It is OK for kids to paddle in but even for them it would be much safer without the seven foot deep, deep end.The villa is on what seems like a quiet road during the day but there is a rush hour every morning at 5.00 am until 7.00 am. OK I guess if you use the air-con or open windows on the garden side. Unfortunately the alarm system which the owner recommends being on at night includes the garden side upstairs windows. We had a problem with a very noisy pool pump but to be fair the owner got that fixed immediately and we were able to enjoy the peace of the garden again.Last thought is general to the area. It is real, traditional Italy with very pretty hilltop towns and amazingly good restaurants. Be aware that in September many of these restaurants shut unpredictably and we spent many hours searching the internet for a restaurant we could book each night.Very often these were a long drive away down the appallingly broken local roads. Even finding the restaurants was difficult as sat-nav and phone maps sometime failed to get us there. When you are right outside it may still be difficult to find because, in the old towns, many restaurants have just a single door onto the street. It is usually well worth the effort though as the food is amazing. The flip side to this is that there are miles and miles of pristine, empty beaches in September because the lidos just pack up and take away almost all of the umbrellas and sun loungers - Heaven!

What a special place. Beautifully kept inside and out. We had a lovely relaxing 2 weeks at Casa Trastulli after spending a few days in Rome. The facilities were excellent. The pool got cleaned, the grass got cut, the beds got changed and the villa cleaned top to bottom. A nice touch!.Tony was extremely helpful highlighted by the welcome pack of information that covered everything to do with the property and great examples of the best beaches, restaurants and days out in the area.Perfect for a family holiday, the pool is a great size, you can either dive in at one end, over 6ft deep or an easy step entry at the shallow end for little & old ones. We played Water polo daily. The two first floor spacious air-conditioned bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds were ideal for the two sets of parents. The Second floor 2 bedrooms have 3 single beds perfect for the 5 kids in our party.Antonio, the local host is not only a fountain of knowledge but a wonderful cook and on hand to help. We enjoyed exploring the local area, with stunning views as you drive around this rural picturesque region of Italy. Plenty of stunning places to visit. Meals and game nights on the upstairs balcony with the views of Castel Frentano as your backdrop were a highlight for us all. And our pool party BBQ. A future return is a high possibility.

Amazing holiday in a beautiful place
Had an excellent time. The house was a great place to explore Abruzzo and the backdrop of the mountains was stunning.
The house itself had all mod cons and everything required for a demanding family holiday.
Antonio was a particular help and nothing was too much trouble. Would revisit in a heartbeat.

Lovely relaxing time in great villa
We spent a fantastic week in this villa in lovely Abruzzo. The house is comfortable, spacious and well equipped, and the beds very comfortable. Our children spent a lot of time in the pool - very shallow at one end. The garden is secluded and a great spot for cricket - sadly we didn't get to see the resident mole who seems very fond of digging in the garden!
Tony's communication was very good and the information about the local area, shops and restaurants was very helpful. The local village has a good pizzeria and local shops - great focaccia at the bakers, and fantastic wine which we found at a local vineyard. Although on a road, we were not bothered by noise and the views around of the countryside and mountains are great. Great beaches only 30 minutes' drive.
All in all we had a fantastic week and only wish we could have stayed longer.

Superbly located villa for family holiday
We had a fantastic last week of our holiday in Italy at the spacious Casa Trastulli, after travelling across from Rome, via Sulmona. The house is very well equipped and maintained. On our arrival it was lovely to renew acquaintance with Antonio, who used to be my barber in Wokingham in the late 1980s!
We loved the relaxed feeling of Abruzzo and the house was just what we were after, being within easy reach of the mountains and the sea. We had several trips to the beach at Rocca san Giovanni which was superb for swimming and snorkelling. We also enjoyed a picturesque walk up the Valone delle Tre Grotte in the Parco Nazionale della Majella (from Pennapiedimonte). The nearby water park at Vasto was also one of the best we've been to. The house has a nice deep pool and large garden in which to enjoy summer BBQs.
A superb villa which we would definitely recommend for a fun family holiday.

A little gem of a villa!
Casa Trastulli is the most comfortable, relaxing villa set in beautiful Italian countryside. We love staying there, only a 5 minute drive into the local town, where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and the most wonderful focaccia from the local bakery. It's very easy to use it as a base to explore the wider region, or just spending days relaxing in the sunshine by the pool. We've been there four times now and would highly recommend it!

Great location, beautiful house, fanstastic views and owners that have thought of everything
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Trastulli, Tony and Lynne sent lots of useful information in advance of our trip and provided a lovely hamper for our arrival, they were really helpful in providing 'extras' for our two babies - two travel cots and a high chair - and were extremely quick to respond to any queries we had.
The views of the property were incredible, especially from the upstairs balcony at night. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house even had a TV, sound system and games.
The property was very well kept, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The cleaner came twice per week and the pool cleaned weekly. The garden and swimming pool were perfect. With two little ones the gated, enclosed grounds made our lives much easier.
There are some great visits to make; the mountains and beach are only a 30 minute drive away, which made the rainy weather much more bearable! We can vouch for the fact that there is certainly lots to do even when the weather isn't good!
There are some great restaurants, in nearby Lanciano, and around Casalbordino beach and some much more relaxed places in Castel Frentano.
This place is great and we would definitely recommend to friends and family and will very likely be visiting in the near future.

This Villa has the wow factor!
Our family group of 9 stayed here for 1 week. Firstly, there is plenty of space and secondly, our expectations were truly exceeded as this is an excellent villa whose charm and character simply can not be captured on camera. We visited Rome for 3 days prior to staying at Castel Frentano and the drive across Italy was worthwhile for the incredible scenery along the way. The villa itself is well appointed, with everything needed to enjoy a relaxing holiday. It is difficult to describe the views from the balcony, stunning is a good place to start! On one side, the village rears up in front of you, which is particularly picturesque at night, and on the other side the breathtaking views across the valley to the mountains beyond. Castel Frentano has everything needed but there are bigger supermarkets a short drive away if required. The beaches are easily accessible if that is what you want, but for us it was all about relaxing by the pool with short excursions in to the mountains for a late afternoon drink, taking in the views. There is a water park around a 40 minute drive away which is worth a visit, particularly if you have young children. Tony was always quick and clear with communications and the detailed instructions provided to get the most out of our stay were very helpful. Tony and Lynne seem to be proud of their house, and rightly so! This was a great holiday, we would recommend a visit to anyone and and hope to return ourselves.

Brilliantly appointed Family villa in a fantastic location.
We had an amazing stay at this lovely villa. Party of 8 and it accommodated us really well. Lots of space. Really well appointed and just as described on the website. Loads of local sites to discover or if you want a chilled holiday just lie near the pool on the sunbeds! Directions to the villa were great as were the instructions of how to use the appliances etc, local restaurants, shops and beaches. We were always well informed. Antonio is the meet and greet man and was charming and knew everything about the locality and spoke English!
We had a great time and will return as 1 week wasn't enough. Thanks Tony and Lynne!

Perfect Relaxation
We were looking for a holiday in real Italian countryside away from the tourists.
Based on the description we chose Casa Trastulli and we weren't disappointed. The villa itself is beautiful and has everything you need. Within walking distance to the local village, there are shops, bars and restaurants all with very local feel. The locals were very friendly and we managed just fine with our very little Italian.
Downtime at the villa was perfect with lots of lazy days around the pool. All in all, perfect and just what we needed.

outstanding holiday & stunning property
From the moment I came across this villa on the website to returning home this villa and the experience were amazing. Tony could not have been more helpful. Mum and I arrived early and were due to stay two nights in a hotel it was so bad, Tony kindly agreed for us to take the villa over a day early.
The villa itself was exceptional. We have stayed in a lot of villas in many different countries and this was certainly one of the best. Every bit of equipment you could possibly want was provided. It was spotlessly clean and just felt like home rather than a holiday property.
Antonio was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The lady who did the cleaning was very helpful along with the gardener.
The area was great - the mountains stunning, and to come back to a pool every day was just the icing on the cake.
I would highly recommend this property and if you want to see what the real Italy is like - this is just the place to go

Casa Trastulli - a perfect holiday home
We have just had an amazing ten days staying at this beautiful villa, the best property we have rented over several years of visiting Italy. Everything one could need on holiday had been thought of. The website was very comprehensive, and Tony was very helpful when we spoke on the phone and responded to emails very promptly. Antonio was waiting at the property with the keys when we arrived and showed us around, explaining all we needed to know. The house was ideal for our daughter and son in law and four year old granddaughter, who loved the swimming pool - apart from the beach, and ice creams, it was her favourite part of the holiday. The kitchen was well equipped, plenty of cooking utensils, crockery, etc. so good that we even managed to make cherry jam and a birthday cake while we were there. The garden was large enough for games, sunbathing, and there was plenty of shade to escape the sun. The views from the back and the front of the house are stunning. The beaches, about a 30 minute drive, were excellent, especially Le Morge, which was extremely safe for children. The weather was perfect for us, sunshine all the time, apart from the last day, which was a little thundery. This house is a perfect retreat for families, And we would love to return with the rest of the family sometime in the future. Thank you Tony and Lynne for sharing your home with us.

Superb holiday experience.
There was nothing about this holiday let which was in any way disappointing, in fact quite the opposite. From the moment that we came across the villa on the website our contact with Tony and Lynne was positive. Information was excellent and timely, requests were dealt with promptly and we left home feeling confident that nothing more could be done to prepare us for our holiday.
The villa itself was just as described in the literature. The 'meet and greet' from local contact Antonio was much appreciated and made clear that nothing would be too much trouble if we were to contact him - a point proved when one of our party had a minor medical problem in the middle of the week.
We quickly settled into what can only be described as home from home (apart from the fact that we don't have a swimming pool). The kitchen and dining equipment was plentiful and the living parts of the villa fully fit for purpose. The views all around are spectacular. Access to the mountains and also to the coast is easy by car and there is no shortage of places to visit, even slightly out of season.
The recommended restaurants were uniformly in the range good to excellent, and the local cantina provides excellent local wines.
Our grandchildren loved the space to run around and the availability of a pool even on the days when the sun didn't shine quite so much. As well as plenty of space there is also plenty of good shade from the sun.
The whole family enjoyed their stay at Casa Trastulli - probably more so than any other holiday let that we have experienced over several years. As a result
we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as ideal for a family holiday.
Many thanks to Tony and Lynne and the support team in Italy.

Just an amazing holiday!
From start to finish this was a fantastic experience. We felt we got to know Tony well as all his correspondence was friendly, helpful and always welcome. The house itself is amazing. The photographs are great online but don't do justice to the house, grounds and views. Everything you could need was provided and very quickly we felt at home. We were two families of four and the house was easily big enough to accommodate us without feeling like we were stepping on toes. The bedrooms are spacious and airy and the air con works a treat. Star of the show was the pool and garden. We used it every day and the kids were always reluctant to get out but the lure of food always helped. And the food was amazing! Recommendations from Tony and Lynne were always great and although it took us a few days to get used to having some of our meals chosen for us by the chef in the absence of menus, we had meals that were exactly how we expected - fresh, delicious and lovingly created. Tony and Lynne apologise for the length of the info supplied but it was extremely helpful for everything from local contacts to bin collections! There has obviously been a great deal of investment and care put into the house and it's maintenance. All in, we would heartily recommend this villa and would love to return (as soon as we can). This is a taste of real Italy and although it's a short drive to towns, the coast and the mountains you still feel as if you're the only tourists around! And that's not a bad thing ! The people were all really friendly and helpful and local prices are really cheap, especially compared to Rome! Our top tip - get a good phrasebook and use as much Italian as you can - it really helps!
Thanks Tony and Lynne!

We had a great Holiday at Casa T and all very much hope to return one day. "We" consists of :my wife, daughter, son-in-law and first 6 month old Grandaughter. I'm hoping we can return with an even bigger family group. The house is superb. Very comfortable and well fitted out with lots of nice homely touches that you often don't get within rental properties; e.g. pictures on the walls, books to read, DVD's etc. The description within OD is good, but one feature that needs more emphasis is the stunning views at both the rear and the front of the building. Good swimming pool. off-road parking for 2/3 cars.I must mention Antonio; he is a local family man who welcomed us with the house keys and showed us a tour of the house etc when we arrived. He has lived in the UK for many years and speaks very good English. He was exremely helpful and had the tact to be available but not intrusive. He showed us a couple of local restaurants and coffee bars, he even organised a mini tour of the local vineyard.. Antonio cooked a wonderful meal at the house one evening and we all had a great time. We all hope to meet him again in the near future and enjoy the lovely home of Casa Trastulli. The house is on the outskirts of Castell Frantano (excuse spelling) which is a charming and fairly quiet village. Lanciano, nearby, 15 mins drive is much bigger, where we heard the only English speaking fellow tourists during our whole 2 week stay. Some great beaches nearby, nearest is about 30 mins dive away. The owner was very helpful pre travelling. The desciptions within OD was accurate. We have recommended this property to friends and family and hope to holiday there again soon.

Tony & Lynne have made a fantastic job of their holiday home and made it extremely comfortable and welcoming. We had a great time, exploring the region, enjoying the local food & wine and generally relaxing and chilling out.
The property is well-maintained, the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the kitchen/dining areas great for a family group.
Our kids enjoyed the pool. All in all, we would highly recommend it for a top family holiday.

Had a wonderful holiday in Castel Frentano some years ago. We had a family holiday with Children, their parents and parents parents and brothers and sisters!.
Casa Trastulli was ideal - a beautiful place that offered a huge potential for beach, walking and even skiing if we went in the winter or just sitting round and relaxing or bar-b-q'ing.
A choice of Airports - either very close at Pescara or even not too far from Rome which was our choice and gave us the opportunity to extend our stay so we could see Rome and Pompeii as part of the holiday.
All in all, fantastic holiday, great facilities in the Villa, well looked after and thoroughly recommended.

This was our second visit to Casa Trastulli and we enjoyed our stay just as much as the first. I recently read an article which said it takes, on average, 5 days to feel relaxed on holiday. Forget that, you'll get there in about 12 hours!! The house, garden & pool are great and the location is brilliant for experiencing rural Italy - its great to mingle with the locals over a coffee, an ice cream & of course a bocconotto or two ( the local chocolate filled mini cake). We really enjoy not hearing lots of other British voices around the place so this area of Italy is perfect.
The lack of foreign tourists has another great advantage of course which is that the price of food & drink is pretty cheap - its really hard to spend lots of money when you eat at the local bars & restaurants. Don't get me started on the price of a case of Peroni at the local shop - we felt it would be a sin to buy only one!!
You can do as much or as little as you like as Casa Trastulli. We visited the beach a few times (about 35mins drive) and discovered lots of lovely villages in the surrounding area. Some days we stayed by the pool & read a good book.
If you have any questions or need something fixing ( not a problem in our experience) then Antonio ( the local contact & village barber!) will sort it for you.
We can definitely recommend this property.
