The Trestlewood Chalet exceeded our expectations! Spacious, well-appointed rooms, amazing views, and perfect location near Yosemite. Highly recommend!

The chalet was great for the family. All had a bedroom and at least a half bath, which was great. Easy to get to everything in this area of Yosemite. I do recommend this location for others to use.

Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay at the Trestlewood Chalet. The home is in a great location to explore Yosemite and I got accolades from the family for "selecting well." The home was spacious and had everything we needed. The views from the deck were amazing, as well as from the numerous windows in the home. The drive up to the home is steep and I particularly appreciated the warning that it might be difficult to maneuver in snowy conditions (which we did not experience). The home is fairly secluded and you are barely aware of anyone else being around. There were numerous dining options available in the area as well. Would definitely stay here again if we make it back to the valley!

We had a great time! The house has been playing a big role in another family’s life and one can tell that this isn’t just used for VRBO renting. This makes so much more enjoyable than staying at a corporate/sterile house. Thanks for a great stay!

I couldn't believe the loveliness of the Trestlewood Chalet. Beautiful lighting, sparkling clean, comfortable, well appointed with niceties. Exceeded my every expectation. And it was perfectly located near the park.

This was a lovely and peaceful location and fit our large group nicely. Thank you!

everything was great besides a few minor things.
1. spiders/bugs
2. throwing away your own trash 2miles away from the house.
but i wouldn't ding them for that. overrall a great stay and host.

Wonderful views, large and roomy home with plenty of space for a large family or group. Across the street from the Sugar Pine Railroad allowing for super close access to those train concerts. The place was clean, well stocked with pots and pans and even has an extra refer in the garage. Would love to come back again next year. Highly recommend!

I stayed at Trestlewood Chalet for a trip to Yosemite this summer. It was perfect for my large group, and everyone loved that it was spacious enough for us to spread out and have the privacy of our own bedrooms/bathrooms. Here are some of the highlights:
-close to Yosemite (it was only a 5-10 minute drive to the park entrance)
-very communicative and helpful host, David
-beautiful living area with space to spread out, watch TV, and play games - there was even a train set for the kiddos!
-outdoor deck with beautiful views
-kitchen stocked with supplies to cook meals together
-large dining table perfect for group dinners

The house was what we expected with a full stocked kitchen with more that enough pots, pans, utensils, ect.
very close to the south entrance of Yosemite national park, fast and easy to get to the park.

We had a great stay celebrating our 25th anniversary with my niece and her husband and some friends. The house, setting, and view are spectacular. We did some hiking to waterfalls and Mariposa Grove. Soooo much water!!! lovely!

Overall we enjoyed the home and the close proximity to Yosemite. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the home. The kitchen counters were greasy, there were cobwebs in some of the bedrooms, and the downstairs area had quite a few bugs. I called the owner and left a voicemail but after a week still no return call. I also didn't like the trash situation. Yes, it is only a couple miles up the road but to have to take our trash, put it in our car, drive it to the dumpster and come back was just inconvenient.

What we loved:
Easy drive to Mariposa Grove and other Yosemite desitinations.
Lots of bathrooms (with extra toiletries!)
Big, well-stocked kitchen with a range of appliances
Attached 2-car garage
Plenty of extra sheets and blankets
The spectacular views and huge windows
David's prompt replies and helpfulness
What we were surprised by:
We had to drive to a private dumpster 3 miles away to dispose of our trash several times during our stay.
One bedroom was too hot and another too cold.
The garbage disposal doesn't work.
The internet is pretty slow.
Overall, the pros far outweighed the cons! The house is truly beautiful and helped make our vacation wonderful and memorable.

Would definitely recommend Trestlewood Chalet. David was great to work. He always responded quickly to any of my communications with him. Very convenient location to Yosemite entrance. Super clean and nicely decorated. Great view from the deck while enjoying drinks after a long day of hiking. Best stocked kitchen of any rental we have stayed at before. Great selection of spices for cooking. Had every appliance we could have needed. Had a great time playing games and having dinner around the large dining room table. Appreciated the washer and dryer upstairs and downstairs. For those sleeping downstairs it was great not having to lug laundry upstairs to wash. Perfect for families with young children (crib, high chair). Sliding screen door to the deck could be difficult to open at times. It was like the inside handle had snapped off. Very minor issue . It was a great time. Thanks again David and Suzanne

This Wong retreat turned out to be the Right retreat. Our family is a bunch of foodies. We love to cook and enjoy eating together. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed including a wok. Upon arriving there was a shortage of wine glasses, but one phone call to David resolved the issue. The house was spacious and the location was perfect for visiting both Yosemite and Bass Lake. We enjoyed our stay and would do it again.

The good: location, lots of rooms, nice view from the deck. The bad: the house is tired. When taking a shower any water usage in other parts of the house affect the temp in the shower, which is not enjoyable. Beds were a bit firm for our liking. Knives need sharpening badly, non-stick pans flaking the non-stick. BBQs are charcoal (no propane) and there were 3 bags on site, all empty, giving us the illusion that when it was time to grill, we'd have charcoal. (in other STR we have stayed, propane or charcoal has always been provided). Screen door in master out to private deck was broken, so couldn't open slider and enjoy Yosemite fresh mountain air. Furniture in LR is all covered with protectors.
Re: cleanliness. There was a big spill of what was maybe vanilla ice cream out on the deck when we arrived. Too many dead bugs scattered around the house to count - and many had been there definitely since before the last cleaning. Gross stuff spilled and dried in the kitchen utensil drawer. The large grill was so dirty it was unusable, but the smaller one was good enough. The oven was atrociously dirty and gross. (I have pics of every one of these items.)
We stayed in the primary br upstairs, which is right over the garage. Something in the garage turns on what seemed like every 3 minutes, which made it annoying when trying to fall asleep. Maybe water well pump or?
A small note for those who might bring small children. The stairway rails, although to code when the house was built, have not been brought up to current code and the spacing between the rails is wide, probably about 6" or more. My 4 yo could easily get his head through. Just a warning...
The house is roomy and the view is good, but unless the owner is willing to put some money into the house to provide more standard comfort, and have better cleaning, we would not stay again or recommend to friends.

Host was super responsive before arrival which felt reassuring, however once we arrived he continued to message to ensure we arrived and every other reason you can think of. If i failed to reply within a couple hours he would message again and say "Hello? are you there?" I advised I would not be able to reply at his desired timeframe (asap) due to us being on vacation. We had a lot of back and forth, he sent an indirect message insinuating the sheriff would go knock at our door. Which I made sure to let him know I was totally ok with since I wasn't breaking the law. He had an issue with our cars and questioned why we had four cars even though I had previously explained to him that we had party's from three different states meeting there. He had an issue with "too much traffic in the driveway" on his cameras late at night. He seemed to be glued to his cameras and questioning everything. I felt harassed from his llloooonnnggg messages and his million questions asking if we were trespassing. We had a dog and walked the dog up and down around the area, not inside anyone's property. The trip itself was ok, but the host 100% ruined the trip for me and stressed me out to the max. I struggle with health issues and anxiety and his multiple long messages were not helpful and did not allow me to relax in any way. It was honestly a waste of vacation time. I felt my neck in knots and was so close to just leaving early.
Pros: Home is beautiful and fully stocked as far as dishes and linen.
Cons: Host, coffee creamers were expired, home is not actually 6 rooms but 5 rooms and 1 closet with two beds. That closet was not used but if we had more people in our party and needed it, it would have been an issue because there was rat poop under one of those mattresses. Floors were not clean (our feet were dirty on day of arrival from walking barefoot) We made sure to mop, vacuum and clean the house before leaving to not give the host any further reasons to reach out.

Fire
Forced to evacuate after one night due to Washburn fire in Yosemite. Communicated with property manager who agreed that it was best our family of 9 left before we were told it would be mandatory.

Plenty of space and welll stocked. Kitchen had everything needed. 10 minute drive to Yosemite entrance. Great house, would recommend!

Everything you need is there
Actually a wonderful place to stay and I would definitely stay again. The reason for four stars vice five is because 1) sliding doors to the deck need some serious work. One of the three was totally inoperable and the other two were hard to open and close as well as the screens. 2) some "critter" was inside the walls of the house on the lower floor and every once in a while one could hear it scratching or moving around in the wee hours.
Like I said, i would definitely stay again. Chalet had everything one might need and more. I have stayed in many VRBOs and this one was the best stocked of all. Also very close to south entrance to Yosemite and within one hour from the valley floor. Great restaurant at Narrow Gage Inn just across the road if not interested in cooking some night. David also is very easy to contact if you have any concerns.

Yosemite
The upstairs and deck were great. The view from the deck was beautiful. Unfortunately the basement was not! It smelled like mildew and animals. The carpet needs to be replaced. One of the sliding doors would not open and the dumb waiter would not work either. Disposing of trash was not convenient at all. The location to Yosemite was very convenient , but we were very disappointed in the downstairs area.

Wonderful House for a large family gathering
3 Generations of our family stayed at the amazing house. The house is quaint with the old fashion touches, we absolutely loved the hominess of it. We loved the large dining table that we gathered around for breakfast & dinner each night. The owners David & Suzanne were very prompt in their responses to last minute additions including our "grand puppy" who hurt her back and couldn't be left home. We would definitely stay at this Chalet again as it is very spacious with plenty of room for everyone. Shellie

Amazing
We have stayed at plenty of rental properties and this definitely exceeded all expectations for what we needed for a large group! This property has such beautiful views that nobody could possibly be unhappy. It was right across the street from a great restaurant & just a couple miles away from the beautiful Tenaya Lodge close to Yosemite. We’ve never seen a listing so well stocked with everything you might need. We had a large group so there were last minute requests, questions and changes and the owner never hesitated to accommodate us in any way. He was always polite and quick to respond. We would definitely love to stay again!

Perfect Family Fall Fun!
This house was perfect for our family group. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. The large upstairs windows give a gorgeous view from inside or on the huge porch. Plenty of space for everyone to gather, eat together, do puzzles, games etc. The dumbwaiter was a surprise and a definite help getting everything upstairs. Rooms well furnished, plenty of blankets, towels, etc. Kitchen has everything you could want. The location is perfect as well; a short drive to Yosemite. We all loved the house and would return for sure.

Lovely house!
We had a fabulous time at fish camp. The house is beautiful, and has everything you need to make the stay comfortable. You’ll be only a couple of minutes from the South Gate of Yosemite— 10 min to the mariposa trail to giant sequoias, and a little over an hour to the valley floor itself. Perfect location for our first trip to the park. David and Suzanne were fabulous hosts; they responded to any questions super quickly, and were really accommodating. Would absolutely stay here again!

Perfect for a generational family stay! Just about every bedroom had its own bathroom which is great for cleaning up after a day of hiking. The dining area had plenty of space for everyone in our group to eat together and the view is beautiful.

Tree House Chalet
When we arrived, and went into the main room...there is a huge fireplace, open ceiling, with very large beams. The view is spectacular!
There are window all around, leading to a large deck. Everything was
Neat, and clean. During our 5 night stay, we realized there were 2-3
Of everything we might need. No end to towels, sheets, firewood....
The Trestlewood Chalet is beyond wonderful ! It is less than 5 miles to the entrance to Yosemite, and 15 minutes to Oakhurst, for groceries at Albertson’s. We have no complaints, nor suggestions to make it better. We have been thinking of going back, just for a vacation, and not because of Yosemite, but just to stay in the Chalet.
We recommend Trestlewood Chalet to anyone wanting the best
Experience in Yosemite Valley.

Wonderful Oasis in the Yosemite Area
We loved our visit to Trestlewood, it truly felt like a ski chalet in the Swiss Alps! It had more than what we needed in terms of bedding, towels, extra kitchen items, and other amenities to make our stay comfortable. Everything was labeled where needed and we didn't need any additional help from the hosts.
I'd recommend Trestlewood to any large groups looking for a nice space to spend some time close to Yosemite

Great house, great location! Loved our stay!!
We had such a great time staying here and visiting Yosemite with our friends. The house is fully stocked with everything you would need; extra bedding, blankets, bathroom toiletries, and the kitchen has so many extra supplies and spices for cooking and grilling. The location is perfect. We made fires in the fireplace every night, which was so cozy since it’s still chilly in the evenings in April. And it was great to enjoy coffee in the mornings and watch the sunset in the evenings from the deck. The area is so quiet and peaceful and there’s lots of star gazing to do at night. You can also hear the train rolling through down below every once and a while, which is super charming. It’s not a far drive to the entrance to Yosemite and also the cute little surrounding towns to visit. We had a fabulous time and would definitely love to stay at this house again!

Cozy with a view
Good place to have for a big family like ours, pet-friendly too. Really close to Yosemite South gate which is great! Well-stocked pantry and kitchen.
A little dated compared to what is shown on the pictures but not a big deal. And also, somewhat with a "smell" when we 1st get inside the house but went away after a day or two. Also, heating system was not turned on prior to went we arrived and the house was so cold inside.

Great House for a Family Getaway!
We were looking for a place in the mountains for our extended family to have a weekend vacation - 6 adults and 3 little kids. This house was perfect for our needs, lots of room and kid friendly. Communication with the owner was very good. We would rent again!

Family Fun
We stayed for three nights and four days at the end of December. The house is very spacious with plenty of room for large groups. We loved that 3/6 rooms had private bathrooms. The house is an older house, but very cozy. It did take a while for the water to get hot in the showers and water pressure was weak. I tried taking a warm bath and had to abort the mission because the water was freezing, no big deal. Other guest were not kidding the house is FULLY stocked with everything you need (just bring your food)! I forgot my toothbrush and was pleasantly surprised to find brand new toothbrushes in every bathroom! The rooms are clean. Heater kept us nice and warm. The view from the terrace magnificent. The Sugar Pine Railroad is literally a short five minute walk (unfortunately it was closed for the winter), but we got great pictures! Raleys, Vons, dollar tree store 15 minute drive into Oakhurst. Yosemite park was only ten minutes to the park entrance, however its additional 45 min drive to the valley. Beware of the winding roads (4 of us got car sick on the way back). Our only distress was the requirement to clean (sweep, mop, vacuum, put sheets in washer, and take our trash to dumpster). Having to check out at 1030, we had to wake up early and clean (urghhh). I think for the cleaning fee amount charged, we could enjoy sleeping in and not worry about cleaning. Of course we would never leave the house a complete mess, but I hate moping! The dumpster is a 4 minute drive to another location which was a bit of a hassle to put trash in the backseat of a four seater. Other than that, the house is great for families, David was great to work with, and we had an unforgettable trip.

South Yosemite Getaway
As other reviewers have correctly noted, the house is comfortable and clean with a well appointed kitchen and generously stocked pantry. There’s even a waffle iron! Predictably, the cousins loved sharing the sleeping “closet.”
Our extended family had nothing but praise for the Trestlewood Chalet accommodations.
