About this cabin rental
Nestled in the Maine Highlands between Moosehead Lake and the Hundred-Mile Wilderness, Upper Wilson Pond is known for its seclusion, abundant wildlife, and calm waters. Situated steps from the southwest shore, Loon Lodge of Upper Wilson Pond is an inviting, off-the-grid, rustic retreat where the call of loons and lapping water can be heard both day and night. The camp is available to rent from the middle of May, shortly after the ice goes out, to mid-September, when fall is settling in.
From Scammon Road on the ridge, the long gravel driveway winds down to the camp below. The driveway to the camp is shared by the owners who have an additional parking area and a separate boat dock on the property.
Loon Lodge features an open-concept kitchen/living room, an indoor bathroom, and three bedrooms as well as a sleeping cabin, making it ideal for everything from hosting a large party to escaping for a personal retreat. Gravity-fed running water and gas-powered refrigerator, stove, lights, and water heater contribute to the rustic comfort of the Maine camp experience and more than compensate for the lack of electricity. Steps from the door, guests will find a dock for boating, fishing, and swimming.
Loon Lodge's close proximity to Greenville makes it an ideal base to explore the town and the larger Moosehead Lake region.

A rustic cabin with few other camps in the neighborhood. Quiet, loon calls, Bald Eagle swooping for fish, the photo books with pictures of those whom we met years ago at this and the other camp - all priceless. We rented a boat, enjoyed fishing as well as walking on wooded trails. The driveway was a challenge for a filled van, but we made it. Clean and comfortable. This time I will never forget the sight of a rainbow across Elephant Mountain.

We were looking for a private cabin with nice swimming / fishing access and this was perfect. Very simple, clean and remote. Plenty of space for large family. Nice pier for swimming and fishing. Great view of the sky for watching the metor shower and northern lights. We would recommend!

Great location and a wonderful cabin. Cabin was as described and owners were easy to work with. When we had a few questions they stopped over immediately to help us out. The cabin was clean and spacious for family of 5 (3 teens). Although there was no electricity, the solar lamps lasted long enough for us into the evening. The location is perfect. Highly recommend getting some kayaks or canoes to explore the pond (We rented some from Wild Ones Boat Rentals and they delivered directly to the cabin) A hike up Rum Mountain off Lower Wilson pond is only accessible by kayak/canoe. Paddled to the north end of Upper Wilson Pond and saw moose at the water's edge. Great location to relax by the water.

A real gem!

Close enough to Greenville to have access to the fun activities like katahdin ship, hiking trials, shopping, the grocery store, supplies, seaplanes if you want them, etc. It is a wonderful peaceful spot with good fishing and lake swimming. New solar battery means the lights at night are reliable but the warm gas lamp glow is still available. We love this place.

Loved this spot for our family get-together over the Fourth of July; the paddling on Upper Wilson is amazing - we made it to the top of the lake and saw lots of loons and a grazing moose. The huge picture window means that even if it's raining you've got a gorgeous view of Elephant Mountain. Really comfy beds!! Not far from Greenville but you feel as though you're far away from it all.

The second you walk onto this property, you’ll be transported to your fondest memories of summer camp and carefree fun. The view from the cabin and private dock seems as if it is solely for you and the loons calling under a star-filled sky. The cabin was tidy with lots of space for the 6 of us who stayed there. After sunset, gaslit lamps replace the solar ones and a well-equipped kitchen made it easy to stay put. Our cell reception was little to none, which personally I loved because my teenagers had zero distraction from the entertainment that family and nature have to offer. Definitely will stay here again!!

We had a great time. So relaxing. So beautiful. Everything we needed. Close enough to town for convenience but far enough away for privacy. Roomy enough for us to have privacy. Loved the big window and window seats. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay. Loved being off the grid and surrounded by such beauty. The fishing was great and the loons at night were awesome. You get the full greenville experience here. Still only 10 minutes from town. This place is a hidden gem.

The property was perfect for our family vacation. The lack of electricity or cell network was a big plus in our book. It was good to get our teens disconnected for a few days!
It’s the perfect location if you want that remote lakeside cabin experience, while being a short drive from town or the many outdoor activities in the area. We hope to go back again next year!

This little rustic cabin in the Maine woods is a great place to get away from cell phones, busyness, work, etc. bring your canoe or kayak, fishing pole, paddle board, puzzles, games, and a good book. Enjoy a campfire and a home cooked meal. Go out and lay on the dock at night and see countless stars while the loons call their beautiful far away calls on the lake. The hill down is steep and bring water or a filter. Lots of mountains to climb in the area. Take in an ice cream cone in town or take a drive looking for moose. Over all. Great!

This camp offers the perfect off-grid getaway. The buildings are cozy, the property is private and Upper Wilson Pond is a treasure. At night you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves on the shore and the loons calling. From your bedroom you can watch the moon sparkle on the lake. During the day we relaxed on the dock and in the water. The facilities are rustic, as described, but still well equipped. The beds are comfortable. Highlights: swimming off the dock, coming face to face with a mink along the shore, watching the moon rise across the pond, watching the loon family cruise across the lake during the day and hearing loons, coyotes and owls serenade at night.

The beds were comfortable and the dock was very sturdy. We spent alot of time on the dock and in the clean water. The firepit was a fun gathering place and a really nice grill to cook on. Enjoyed kayaking and paddleboarding around the pond. Very peaceful and loved the loon calls, even heard coyotes and owls as well. Camp was clean and area was great!

Wonderful stay
Wow! What an amazing location. It’s secluded but also not far from in town greenville. Not much service which for us was totally fine! It’s nice to disconnect for a couple days. If you need service the middle
Of the pond has service ahah! We brought our kayaks and went around the whole pond. We ended up seeing a moose at the top of upper Wilson pond. The cabin has wonderful gas powered laterns that work awesome and warm you up at night. The stove and fridge worked great. They had the whole place stalked with utensils, pots, pans, seasoning. TP, napkins, blankets, lights you name it! We brought some of our own stuff so we didn’t use up theirs but if you forget something they probably have it! It was very clean, lots of sleeping options. It’s dark outside so just bring some lights or use one of their many laterns! We brought and left some bug spray cause you’ll need it. Awesome fishing just right off the dock! Have nothing but kind words for this place and will for sure find myself coming back to this place and bringing more people to share this place with! What a gem!

Lovely Solitude
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be. The view was exceptional and the solitude was just what we needed and wanted. Town was close enough to run in for ice cream and far enough away for quiet ! We enjoyed many hours sitting on the dock and having the fire pit was nice. We didn't really use the solar lights inside. They didn't have any power after 9:30 pm. The outside lights were good all night. The small outside lights on the rails were a nice touch. We enjoyed that there wasn't any wifi access or TV. We enjoyed our time at the cabin and would come again !

Comfortably Perfect
The extraordinary asset is the location, seemingly secluded with a wonderful pond and mountain view. The owner family had thought of everything that was needed for a comfortable, homey stay with a larger family group. The well equipped cottage had railings on the dock, a screened in porch, a grill and necessary safety equipment. We had a great family vacation and caught perch and togue which made for an unexpected, delightful meal cooked around an outside campfire.

The Picture of Beautiful Peacefulness
This was a very nice house to rent. Being disconnected from the outside world was refreshing. The dock is very nice and swimming was wonderful. We enjoyed an ample supply of good firewood and a nice spot to have an evening fire. The lake is very quiet so it is safe for kayaks and canoes. Watching the eagles spare with the loons was a treat. The house is well maintained as things ran well. We had just enough creature comforts to really enjoy ourselves, feeling that we had all we needed and we did not have what we did not want on vacation.

Super!
We had a wonderful week on beautiful Wilson pond! The warmest weather ever made swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding wonderful. The loons, moose, and eagles were very welcoming this year. Wild raspberries, campfire s’mores, and an oven baked pie were our treats for the week. Good friends and more rich memories made.
