We arrived at the house a couple of days late due to “crowd strike” and cancelled flights. David was so nice and easy to communicate with. He let us stay another day due to our late arrival. We loved the area and the house and grounds are exactly as shown. He gave us good info on hikes and restaurants

Great getaway! Super clean house. Excellent woodsy walk to the river.
We enjoyed all the little extras this host provides. Sparkling clean hot tub. The host was once again very helpful. Enjoyed sitting in the quiet yard, enjoying our morning coffee.

What a great house, had everything we needed plus more. The hot tub was sparkling. Enjoyed the walk to a beautiful river with chairs to sit and relax. The yard was just as peaceful and relaxing to sit in on a quiet street. David the host was very helpful.

Excellent vacation home.
Very cozy and relaxing among the tall doug fir trees. A quiet street. Super clean. Lots of Xtras in the kitchen. DVD'S, Games, Books galore. Perfect sparkling hot tub. Beautiful sounds from the river when soaking in hot tub in the evening. Great sitting places in the yard and next to the river. Host was very helpful.

Excellent! The only way to describe the sandy river ski house. The house and yard were well maintained. Spotless cleaning. Wonderful amenities. The hot tub was perfect after snowboarding. Comfy beds and couches. A wonderful setting down by the river. The host was very helpful. We'll be back!

We had an excellent time! The house had all the amenities that we required and more. Perfect for people who need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but without the compromise. Super clean place and the hot tub was great to come back to after a long day of skiing and adventures. We enjoyed the quietness of the location, as well as the not-so-secret short path to the riverbank (we sat there for lunch!). Host was friendly, helpful, and provided a list of recommendation of things to do. Highly recommended!

The house was very comfortable and clean, and in a great location for a fun weekend at Mt. Hood (only about 20 mins from Timberline). The hot tub was well maintained and a real treat after a long day of skiing! David was a very kind and communicative host. It was great to be able to bring our dog as well, and we all enjoyed the short walk down to the river.

Sandy River Ski House was everything we expected. The house was clean and stocked with everything my family needed during our stay. The kitchen is large and well supplied with cooking needs. The two comfortable living areas gave our crew options for playing games or watching movies. The hot tub was wonderful after a great hike.

This house was so full of personal touches, and the garden and walk to the river were beautiful! We really felt secluded, and at the same time we were so close to everywhere we wanted to go. In addition, the owner was so nice and helpful. It was a wonderful place to stay, and we already dream of our return.

Property was conveniently located and quite spacious, but the best thing was the communication with the owner. He was quick and very thorough. Before we arrived and even when questions came up during our stay, he was very attentive.

The Sandy River Ski House is a great place to stay while exploring the Mt. Hood area. The place is large, very comfortable beds, a good hot tub, kitchen is good and the outside area is very nice. The house is very close to restaurants, groceries, and many really good hikes. I would recommend this place and would stay again when in the area.

My friend and I stayed the weekend with our two dogs. I typically don't complain but I was particularly irked by a couple of things.
When I requested to book, the owner reached out to go over the house rules. All rules were fine, but he made what seemed to be a pretty condescending remark, "Your reviews look really good. Let's keep it that way." I almost asked to just cancel the request but decided not to let the comment ruin my plans.
My friend and I worked late and arrived after 8pm. After a hot week, the house was really warm and stuffy, with an odd plastic smell in one of the bedrooms. We were frustrated to find the A/C controls had a security code, which hadn't been provided, so we opened the windows and set up the fans. Odd that the house is advertised with A/C and there are a number of reminders to set the temp range, but no way to adjust without the code. The smell went away but the house remained uncomfortably warm until the morning. I was able to get the A/C code the next day.
That said, the house is very quiet, clean, well-equipped and near a calming stream. The beds were quite comfortable, and we loved the hot tub and outdoor tables. There are plenty of food and activities options within a 5-15 minute drive. However, with lots of other rental homes available near Mt. Hood, I think I'll choose differently next time.

It was a comfortable place to stay between ski days over spring break. Tidy, clean, and well maintained, with rustic decor, we were able to relax and recharge without worries or hassle.

This place had it all! Close to the river, trails, restaurants and skiing. Everything is provided and labeled. Cold evenings? Firewood and kindling are provided. Complicated recipe to cook? Every utensil is there. Quiet, beautiful, in an equally beautiful neighborhood, this place is a gem. Restaurants around there are top tier. Check google maps and pick out the best. Grocery store about a mile away. I recommend lunch at Timberline lodge. Do yourself a favor and cross the street and do some of the short or long hikes....beautiful.

Comfortable beds, plenty of room to spread out.
Well equipped kitchen. One critique- sheets weren’t on beds when we arrived. It would have been more welcoming to be able to climb into fresh sheets after traveling! Other than that it was a great location with close proximity to the mountains. We enjoyed our stay.

Place was perfect place for our family. Just as described. We stayed over Christmas and the owner had put up Christmas tree and some decorations which was so nice. Quick access to the mountains. Loved our stay and highly recommend this house.

We had a great stay! The house was perfect for our family; 2 adults and 2 tween girls. The house is set up great- 2 rooms and bathroom on one side and the master bedroom and bath on the other side of the house. We were comfortable and had a lot of space. We arrived during a “extreme heat wave” and the house was nice and cool (entire house with air conditioning!). The house was very clean too!
We loved to go on the short walk to the beautiful river. Perfect to relax with a book and a drink! We liked the front deck area too, it was nice to eat meals out there. The kitchen is large and had everything we needed.
The location was very convenient. Close to so many wonderful trails: Zig Zag waterfall, Old Salmon River trail, Mirror Lake. I recommend going up to Timberline Lodge at Mt Hood. We had lunch at the “Day Area” overlooking the mountains and rode the chair lift up almost to the top. I think this is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. Wow! The house has a binder with many trail recommendations.
We liked the restaurants: Zig Zag Inn, Wrapitude and the Mexican restaurant by Thriftway. Order the “salsa flight.” Yum! Thriftway is close by for grocery shopping.
My husband was able to work remotely just fine. Good WiFi connection. We were able to watch Netflix/Hulu/Amazon on the TV.
Great experience! I highly recommend renting this house. We hope to come back again for more hiking and relaxation 😀

Enjoyed our stay!
David is a great host, giving great recommendations. There is a book with details about the surrounding area as well. The house was clean and comfortable and we loved sitting at the river in the evening, soaking our feet after a long day of hiking. We would definitely come again.

Cozy house
House was well equipped and clean. Bedrooms comfortable. Inside is a bit dark in summer but can see how cozy this house would be in winter. Enjoyed the trail to the river and hot tub. Would have loved more comfortable furniture on the deck area, but loved all the log tables.

Great Home Base to Explore Mt. Hood Area
This was a great and spacious home for our family to spend time visiting the Mt. Hood area. It’s tucked away in a quiet wooded neighborhood and perfect for those looking for some peace and quiet. David had lots of resources about hikes, restaurants and other things to do right at your fingertips. Also perfectly located… Close to restaurants and grocery as well as hiking trails and not far from Government Camp and Portland. Master bed and pillows were super comfortable. We loved all the outdoor spaces and access to the river. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Mt. Hood location!
Although we hit the mountain just post ski season, the location of this home is excellent for that purpose or even summer and spring or fall wanderings. Cute and cozy with all the amenities. Don’t hesitate to consider this property. David, the owner, is very communicative, and we enjoyed the cozy interior, and found a location, despite the rain, perfect for our interests. The house is super clean, well appointed, and fit for small or little bit larger gatherings. It was only three of us and our pet pooch, so there was plenty of room for more!

Wonderful Stay
We wanted a spot for a quick getaway for the weekend. We were lucky to find this place. The furniture was in great shape, the bed was wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped, even good sized bowls for our pup. David provided great instructions and communication. The walk to the river was lovely and the property peaceful. Looking forward to staying again.

Great property and great host, lovely stay!
This home was just wonderful in every way! It is nestled in a small neighborhood away from the main highway allowing you to enjoy the sounds of nature. The home had ample space for two adults and two kids. Tons of games and movies to enjoy. The master bedroom is at the opposite end of the home. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with anything you might need to cook up a meal. The fireplace was a nice treat for a cozy early spring evening after checking out the local trails. There is a trail leading from the back of the home to a nice little spot along the sandy river with chairs waiting for you. David was an excellent host and readily available should we have needed anything. You can tell he greatly cares for this property, it is well maintained. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely book again in the future! Highly recommend this property for your Mt. Hood stay.

Peace on the river
My wife and I were looking for a place to stay with our dogs for this vacation. We wanted a nice place, out in the forest, near a river, privacy and seclusion. That is exactly what we got.
The house was great, three bedrooms (two kings and a queen, also a futon), two full baths, lots of living space. It is located along the Sandy River between Portland and Mt Hood so there are city and nature options for activities to do. The river is a short, easy, accessible walk to a secluded rocky landing complete with chairs to relax in to the sounds of the river.
You get a grocery store just a mile down the road. There are two great pizza places, a wonderful bakery, tasty sandwich and wrap place, and the pub all nearby.
The dogs loved it there, especially the river. The old moss covered trees and thick foliage ensures quiet and beauty. We barely saw any of the neighbors along this single lane road and it was so peaceful. The dogs loved going for walks out here along the road or down to the river.
The property provides plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a big movie collection (although it needs some good horror and sci-fi movies), fireplaces, hot tub, full kitchen, travel and nature books, and games. Really about all I could ask for is an outdoor hammock. There is no cable reception but I didn't care, you can access Netflix if you want.
We were able to relax and just unwind for this 8-day stay. We would definitely rent out here again.
