About the township of Bicheno
Situated an equal distance from the capital city of Hobart in the South and the northern city of Launceston, Bicheno is a popular holiday destination for Tasmanian and interstate visitors alike. A lovely place to stay
Our family – two adults & three kids ages 4 to 10 – enjoyed our time in the cottage that was comfy, warm, and well set up. Communication with the hosts was quick and easy.
Only slight drawbacks were lack of direct access to the beach – possibly a temporary situation – and initial miscommunication on how to get the keys.

Beautiful view from the deck
We just stayed one night in Bicheno and the accommodation was as described. Very happy - would stay again.

Only disappointment was no access to the beach - pity we could not cut thru paddock.
Very pleased with the accommodation - double bed was a little too soft for our liking but it was a very comfy spot. If we could have accessed the beach to diamond island it would be 5/5

Ticks all boxes
Our family of four found this place to be excellent. We stayed here 6 years ago and thought it was great and it was really good again. I’m sure we will be back a third time. What stood out for us is how clean this accommodation was. The house is comfortable and has everything you need. The views are super and we enjoyed the 30 minute walk along the coast into town.

Absolutely perfect location for visiting Diamond Island at low tide.
Extremely clean, warm and comfortable. Amazing vista from the deck and front windows overlooking Diamond Island and the open sea. Spacious deck that would be amazing to utilise in the summer months. Our visit was gifted through a raffle for Nephrology South, thanks to the generous owners. Thank you Brad and Kate, from the renal patients and their families.

Wish I'd booked for longer!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Diamond Island Retreat. The view was amazing and the kids loved that there were sheep in the paddock and bunk beds! It was also quite special to hear all the noises at night - the rain on the roof, the waves crashing on the shore and the penguins!! If we're ever back in Bicheno, we know where we're staying. I will definitely recommend your place to my QLD friends heading this way later in the year. Thanks for your hospitality and homely touches.

A Great Stay!
My family of 3 stayed at Diamond Island Retreat for 3 nights in Feb. Walking in to the house my husband and I looked out the living room window and say "wow! what a view!" Self check in was super easy. The house itself is comfortable and homely. We loved sitting in the beanbags by the window watching the sheep and enjoying the sun :)
The house is quite close to the main highway through town so you can hear some road noise at times but it was never loud enough to effect our sleep or bother us!
Location is awesome! 2 minute drive in to the town of Bicheno. A few KM's north is a great wildlife sanctuary called Natureworld and a swimming hole at Douglas Apsley National Park. We walked down to the beach (across the paddock below the house) many times, it's a nice easy stroll and make sure you walk over to Diamond Island at low tide (there is a barometer in the living room which tells you when low and high tide is). We took a stroll down the beach on dusk (8pm) and spotted quite a few penguins making their way up to the rocks. Make sure you try out the fish and chips at 'The Gulch!' The best fish and chips we've ever had!! We also appreciated the BBQ out the back :)
Thank you for a great stay! This town certainly exceeded our expectations!

Diamond Island Retreat
Accommodation, equipment and services, cleanliness and location - all perfect. Highly recommended as a place to stay in Bicheno. Lots to see and do. Just watching the sheep in the front paddock is enough to put one into holiday mode! Saw some fairy penguins - bonus.

Well equipped and comfortable cottage.
We totally enjoyed our short stay with grandchildren but plan to return on our own. Going out of season certainly is a bonus as you can enjoy the quiet, stroll down the paddock and, see the penguins coming in at night.

One of the best view of Diamond Island
Our 2nd visit at Diamond Island Retreat. Very reasonable fee for a good location to see fairy penguins and wonderful view of Diamond Island. If you are early, you can catch the first sunrise. Will definitely come back again.

Lacked even the basics
The location is fantastic. However the house was lacking even the basic amenities. We were given 1 roll of loo paper, 1/4 roll of paper towels, no shampoo, no tissues, and the kitchen was falling apart (we almost pulled the drawer front off by opening it). It was clean but no care is put into this place. We found out the hard way that the local store closes at 5:30 PM after running out of loo paper and needing to shower with 2 small shell shaped soaps that were in the bathroom. I know it's not a B&B but there weren't even band aids in the place. In terms of tea and coffee there was 1 dried spoonful of Blend 42 and 2 old teabags. We rent places very often and expect the very basics to be there. We ended up spending so much of our own money on basics we may as well have gone camping. Again the location is fantastic, but I'd sooner rent another place nearby next time for the price.

This was a perfect, beautiful location in very comfortable, clean accommodation that was equipped with everything our family needed. We always appreciate a well equipped kitchen given we love to cook the fresh local fare when we are on holidays.

Diamond Island Retreat is a fantastic family accommodation with plenty of room to move. We only stayed 2 nights but would have loved to stay longer as this place has everything you need and at a great price. There is a huge outdoor deck with a great view of the island. (and we even spotted some whales) Highly recommend.

Family of 5 stayed 2 nights at cabin. It was clean, comfortable, great view to Diamond Island itself. Children loved the sheep and pony visiting at fence. Only probably we had was the weather, it rained a lot! and the seas were rough so we didn't get across to island or see penguins... but we could here them the first night. Dispite this however, cabin kept us warm and cosy, gave us great views of just how mother nature can whip up the sea... amazing. Town was not that far away so we could explore it, and have great pies at the bakery. Yum!. All in all we had a really good time and good rest here. Would love to come back, when it is sunny.

Great place, wonderful views. Peaceful, clean and relaxing.
