About this house rental
Welcome to The Palms, a vacation beach house located on St George Island at the 24x7 gated community, Plantation. This is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house situated across the street from the beach. We have an obstructed but awesome Gulf view from the second floor. Our guests have access to all of our community amenities including two large community pools, tennis courts, pickle ball court, bike paths, nature trails and easy access to prime fishing spot, Bob Sikes Cut.
On the ground floor we have two parking spaces under the house (more parking spaces in backyard), fish preparation table, shower with hot/cold water and a shed with beach toys,bikes and beach wagon.
First Floor.
There are 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a living area/hall on the first floor of the house. All bedrooms have queen size beds and spacey closets. Three of the bedrooms have tv. Both bathrooms have 2 entry doors: one from adjacent bedroom and another from the foyer. So you can control the access to the bathroom if you need: the bathrooms could be shared downstairs, but can be easily locked to make it fully private to bedrooms.
The Second Floor.
The high vaulted ceiling in the center of the house gives a wonderful sense of space, airy and light.
There is a large living area, dining area, kitchen, laundry/full bathroom, two furnished decks and screened porch on the second floor. The open floor plan living/dining/kitchen concept allows families to stay connected and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The kitchen with breakfast bar keeps the chefs of the family just earshot away. It is equipped with dishes, microwave, side by side refrigerator, stove, oven, toaster, pans, coffee maker, blender. You will enjoy the view of the Gulf while preparing your meal!
Dining area has a dining table which seats six comfortably and is attached to the kitchen and living area.
Additional seating for 4 is available at the breakfast bar or you may prefer to enjoy your meals on the decks or screened porch.
Living area has a sofa, love seat, couple chairs and a large TV. There is also a telescope here so you can watch the planets and stars. The living area is large, light-filled, open and comfortable with the water view through sliding glass deck doors.
Washer and dryer are available in the laundry/full bath on this level.
Our twin sun decks (East and West) are furnished. They provide the best place to see sunrise and sunset, enjoy refreshing breeze from the Gulf or just to have a good time with friends or family.
The Bay side screened porch is an old-style Florida porch where many warm evenings with cool breeze has been enjoyed. In this porch you will be at home with nature and may be blessed with sightings of bald eagles, herons, owls, egrets and other local wildlife.
Our rentals are by week or month with occasional exceptions. If you wish to rent for a shorter/longer period of time we encourage you to contact us. Please let us know the dates and how many people/pets are going to stay in the house. We will try to accommodate your needs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palms. We did not have any issues that we needed to reach out to the owners for. As pictured, you see the place isn’t some fancy ritz stay and we loved the laid back vibe. Beds were okay, some more comfortable than others, plenty of bedding, pillows, throw blankets for all. We did have to clean up when we got there, it wasn’t perfect. There are other reviews about roaches we didn’t see any until day three and the last 4 days of our trip we killed several per day, mostly in the downstairs area. I guess it’s just normal for the town. Didn’t bother us too much.
The absolute best thing about this place is the proximity to the beach. A very short walk to the beach! We loved having a stocked shed with bicycles and beach chairs. What a great perk the owners offer!! As of Aug 2024 there were 4 beach chairs and 3 tailgate style chairs, 4 bicycles (the orange bikes front tire wouldn’t stay inflated, I’m sure it’s an easy fix). We rode the bikes to the pools and also to the bob Sikes cut boardwalk entrance where we fished off the jetties and caught a few little catfish that we threw back. The beach cart in the shed made our beach walks easy breezy!! Both umbrellas had broken parts, so bring your own! Overall really great stay!! We will be back! SGI is gorgeous and was very private - very few folks on the beach!

The house was mostly very clean (a hair in one shower only) and mostly very comfortable. We loved that bikes were included and the property was walkable to the beach. If you are used to the local realty companies descriptions of “across the street” please note this house is a little further away. However it is still quite close. If you are a cook you might want to consider bringing what utensils you need for meal prep as some of them were needing replacement. There was a good selection of pots, pans and storage containers provided. The owners were very responsive and helpful. There is a metal spiral staircase that connects the downstairs bedroom area up to the kitchen, living room and one bathroom so note if you have folks with mobility issues along. It was not an issue for us. There are no reading lamps in the living room, overhead lighting is your only option. The furniture was comfortable and provided ample seating. Overall we had a great stay.

Felt like owner has not seen place as many things were less than ideal for the location and cost. The beds were not comfortable. Chairs on decks were falling apart and decks and steps were not in great condition. Ceiling fan in one bedroom did not work. Blinds in another bedroom also not working.

This house is located in the beautiful plantation. The house had plenty of room for my family to stay. We enjoyed the bikes and beach cart that were provided. Overall the cleanliness of the house could have been better. It appeared as though no one had stayed there in some time. There were dead roaches throughout the house and the kitchen counters and floors were dirty. The furniture was outdated and fairly rundown. I communicated my concerns with the owner while on our stay and they were pretty quick to respond. Overall, our stay was ok. We enjoyed the plantation and all of its amenities.

We enjoyed our family beach vacation immensely! The location was perfect - close to the beach and the bike path. Everyone had their own space and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals at the house.
The beach wagon was a big hit to carry our chairs back and forth to the beach, and the grill was perfect for a night of grilling at the house! We made many great family memories and hope to visit again!

We had a wonderful stay at this home. It is a basic beach house as far as the decor and furniture, but had everything we needed. Communication with the owners was fast and easy.
We particularly enjoyed all of the beach gear, the wagon, the highchair and pack 'n' play for the baby. The location is wonderful, an easy walk to the beach and very quiet and great for relaxing. We really loved the view (which is the first picture in the listing, not to be confused with the house itself). There are couple of small things that need attention but overall it was an awesome stay especially for Spring Break! Note- the no-see-um bugs were really bad at this time of the year (April) on the beach so be prepared!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Palms. Greg and Vieta were responsive to our needs. When the grill didn’t work, they sent a new one right away. Same with the coffee maker! The property was beautiful. We had several guests come to visit and all enjoyed their time there. While it felt remote, it was easy to get in and out of and fun to use as a base to explore the area.

We were a party of 4, senior citizen friends. We found the house to be very clean, and quite comfortable. Our only issue was trying to figure out how to access the t.v. It would be helpful to have a laminated card with detailed instructions on how to know which remote to use and when to use it. There appeared to be a missing cord to one of the down stairs t.v. So there was no access to that t.v. Other then that the stay was very pleasant, the owner easily accessible, location was perfect and we enjoyed our stay.

This beach house had almost everything you could need for a week at the beach. My group of five enjoyed this beautiful, huge, and spacious home, right across the road from the beach. The rental included a wagon, cooler , beach chairs, toys, floats , etc.
We also loved exploring the bike paths!
Unfortunately, only one of the bikes was functional, so we had to rent some.
This was my first time staying in the Plantation, and I was intrigued by the amenities. The pools were very nice. However, there is no hot tub, as advertised. It is not heated at all.
Overall , the house was a real jewel. If you don’t need a hot tub or bikes , don’t hesitate to stay here.

We had a really nice stay in this home with our family and fur members during the last week of July. The spiral staircase was a challenge for the dogs but after a couple does they were able to manage. Greg was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions/concerns. The home was very comfortable and it provided what we needed. I would not hesitate to rent again.

The house is in a very nice location (basically anywhere on SGI is great). And it was functional. But the decor left ALOT to be desired. The furniture was poor quality. And the house was on the dingy side. The floors were sticky, the beds had dog hair, the shower was not very clean (there was hair in it), two pots had food on them still and the place could use a good dusting. That said, the owner was responsive. And it served its purpose.

Overall good property but maintenance needed
Overall this was a good house and we adapted and had a good vacation. The house is severely outdated and could use maintenance. The pictures and description of the house were slightly misleading, specifically related to the steep metal spiral staircase in the home. We knew that there was an upstairs and downstairs but there are no pictures of the spiral staircase and had we known that before, we would not have rented. Our 40 lb dog was not able to go up or down those stairs due to not feeling she could get a good grip with the metal and having a bad back leg (the wood stairs were fine) so we had to carry her up those stairs. We also had someone in our party with knee and ankle issues that the stairs presented a challenge for. The appliances, furniture, faucet knobs, counters were very outdated but was not a big deal. However, i did have an issue with the broken chairs on the patio off the kitchen that we could not sit in; or the broken screen on the sliding glass door, or the screen on the kitchen window that’s patched with bandaids, or the broken wood post on the patio that i was not comfortable letting my kids or dog on. With the price that we paid to stay there, I would expect that these things be fixed and maintained properly, especially since it’s not very costly to fix them. The refrigerator also leaked water that we cleaned up daily, appears to have a cracked drip pan because we saw a piece of tape trying to hold it together. Also, we paid for 9 people to stay in the home, however we were only given 8 bath towels and no back up towels or anyone to call to get another one. So we had to buy extra bath towels that we left in the home. I think the bath towels allotted should match the number of people in the home. The description of the home also stated that the couch was a pull out bed but that was not true. That should be taken off the description as we relied on that. The air mattress in the home has a hole in it so we could not use that. Luckily we brought a spare air mattress that we were able to use instead for my kids to sleep on. Other than these issues, we enjoyed our stay and had a great time.

The experience was overall great. The property owners were very easy to work with. The house had everything we needed. The home could use some updates and a few fixes. The cleaning crew could spend a little more time in the home, paying attention to deep clean places such as vents (very dusty) maybe air filters need to be changed? Base boards, cupboards. Tack strips between the bedroom and bathrooms were visible and needs to be fixed. After stepping on many times, we put towels over them. Overall the home was great! Don’t want to change the rating because they are minor, but every little bit helps. 😄 Great location, this was our first time in the plantation. One pool was open, unheated, easy walk to the beach. Love SGI have been coming down for several years now. Heads up, no-see-ums are bad in April.

The Plantation is great.
This was a very good property in a really great location. A short walk to the beach. Bike riding was fun and the beach was great. Big enough for several families but not too big. The beach was fantastic, unfortunately the youngest, a toddler, did not like sand.

We walked our dog or rode our bikes. The owners have some bikes in the shed which we used as well as our own. (Bikes can be rented, too.) The house has all appliances, oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc. WiFi and tv’s. It is a home in a gated community. There is a community pool that looks beautiful which we passed during our many bike-rides, we were more interested in the ocean. We will return again!

There is a community pool that looks beautiful which we passed during our many bike-rides, we were more interested in the ocean. We will return again!

We were pleased to find The Palms to rent in a high-demand market. The location was excellent, a short walk to the beach. The kitchen was well stocked, but you need to bring all staple foods. The shed had a good supply of beach equipment such as chairs and umbrellas. A few things needed upkeep, like two flat tires. Stained towels needed replacing. The rooms were as pictured but there were no sleep sofas. The inflatable mattress was usable in the foyer (“kids room”) but had a slow leak. Despite a few imperfections, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful, clean home. Spacious 4 bedrooms. Plantations are beautiful, green lush, shaded bike path, great pools, beaches were empty! Dog-friendly. Wonderful upper porches with water views. Will rent again. This was our first trip to SGI and we loved it!
