About this villa rental
Puerto Rico’s Amapola House is a private getaway minutes from the quaint town of Rincon, nestled near sweeping hillsides and tropical scenery in the Caribbean islands. Located a few minutes away from pristine Sandy Beach and the best Rincon restaurants and bars, Amapola House provides a comfortable resting place for those that want to have an activity-filled day, but a quiet place to return to at night. Backup electric and water ensure a completely pleasant stay.
The owners make sure that Amapola House feels more like second home than a hotel. Built by the Avilés family, who has lived in the area for generations, the house features modern design and stylish décor. Named after the hibiscus flowers that used to bloom on the property of the family matriarch, Amelia Avilés, Amapola House features sepias of Old Rincon going back to the 1890’s.
Once situated, guests can sit in comfortable chairs and look out into the tropical scenery from the Starlight Veranda, the private suite terrace or the lower California scenery deck. Enjoy a swim in our private rooftop pool with swim up bar and jets.
Amapola House is a four-level vacation home with four bedrooms. All the bedrooms include large closets and either a queen bed or two twin beds. With three full bathrooms, the house comfortably accommodates up to eight people. Rooms are decorated in rich yellow and terracotta tones in a contemporary style. A private suite is located on its own level with a private terrace and outdoor dining area. Guests who like to cook on holiday will love the fully equipped kitchen and cocktail bar. Amapola House also offers a dining service for eight, and several great restaurants are minutes away.
Amapola House offers a unique vacation experience that vastly differs from others in the area. Located in a private area that is only reachable through nearly untraveled roads, it gives guests seclusion and tranquility, while still being close to the area’s best beaches and hotspots. The art, antiques and photos offer a glimpse into Rincon’s past and the history of surfing. Guests will truly feel at home at Amapola House, which was designed to do just that.
The golden sands and pristine waters of Sandy Beach are only two minutes by car and ten minutes on foot. Our Sun Deck sunsets are unforgettable and and the nights are filled with millions of stars and serious moonlight.
The interior is designer-decorated and contains a private collection of heirloom antiques and vintage photographs of Old Rincon and Surfing legends, which are part of The Amapola House Story.
Everyone that stays at Amapola House only regrets not staying longer and wishes to return soon, as indicated in our Guest Book entries.
Our kitchen and bar are well-equipped. Guest sleeps quite comfortably in beds with high-quality mattresses and high-count linens (no futons or pull outs). Extra large closets keep your living accommodations spacious.
Our oversized towels are plush and so are our beach towels. The large bathrooms offer rain shower heads, glass basins and oversized mirrors to allow you to pamper yourself as you prepare for the evening, after a day at the beach or a day trip.
iPod stereos, DVD players, flat screen TV's and cable TV service provide entertainment between outings. High-speed wireless Internet keeps you connected when you want to be. The wifi in the area, however is unreliable at times and guests should consider this before arriving.
Our caretaker is always nearby and available to assist you during your stay at Amapola House and to ensure that your stay is a comfortable one.
This home has four levels with stairs and may not be suitable for wheelchairs and persons with limited mobility.

Wonderful property. Only issue was backup power and water did not work when the power went out

Had a great time! Peppery is beautiful and central to everything!!

Overall we enjoyed the location and layout of this property. Definitely the highlight is the roof top pool and views in both directions. The neighborhood is very nice and quick drive to shops and restaurants. We would have given it 5 stars if the washer and dryer had worked, the kitchen was a little bigger (not much counter space) and contruction at the property next door hadn't started at 7:30am.

Our family of five adults all loved Amapola House! Communication was effective getting into the house, although there were a few glitches during our stay that might have been helped by better communication. The house sits on a ridge with wonderful views of tropical trees, ocean and sunsets. The area has other rental homes, small hotels, private residences and some small farms. We enjoyed the diversity of the neighborhood. At first we were a little concerned about not being directly on the beach, but we enjoyed the hilltop location. We walked to Sandy Beach and to a couple local restaurants. The neighborhood was filled with bird sounds and we even had a visit from a large iguana. We were an easy drive to other beaches, local sights and the town of Rincon. Our favorite place was the rooftop sitting area with pool. We enjoyed the indoor-outdoor living. Bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen is small, but adequate for our needs. We would definitely return to Amapola House for another stay.

The area is very rural in my opinion. The view is undeniably beautiful. Close to many beaches
Very accurate description-properly manager was super helpful! The house is in great condition and made it very comfortable to Spend lots of time enjoying the outdoors. A few simple things would have made our stay excellent. I love to cook and enjoy my morning coffee. Coffee pot could be upgraded as well as new cookware. Also, upgraded sheets and towels (I’m glad we brought extra) would be a nice touch.

Adulting in Rincon
Adult group of friends spending 5 days in Rincon. Amapola House was a great spot for us. Plenty of space for the 5 of us to stretch out and enjoy.
We spent most of our time on the roof top deck enjoying the pool, views and sunsets. That rooftop was great!
The local management team was very quick in accommodating housekeeping requests such as light bulbs, grill propane and dish towels for kitchen.
Would definitely recommend Amapola House.

Return to Rincon
This was our family’s first trip back to Rincon since hurricane Maria and we were delighted to be back and to see what a great job PR did repairing this part of the island.
And, we loved staying at Heather and Nicole’s property. It was beautifully decorated, very clean and very comfortable in a great location. The rooftop deck has amazing views, definitely our favorite hangout spot. The neighbors are very nice and very quiet. And, they have beach chairs, coolers, and beach towels for their guests. We thought that was a great perk. I would absolutely rent this house again.

Clean and comfortable
We really enjoyed staying here. Anthony was very accommodating and flexible when we had to reschedule due to the hurricane. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood and the rooftop deck was very relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to prepare family dinner. If i could make one suggestion it would be to put a little more information in the binder such as grocery stores, post offices and their addresses.

Enjoyable vacation
The amapola house was very much as shown on the vrbo site. It was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent and we had a great time. Peter was responsive and handled the one problem quite quickly... we asked for groceries to be shopped for and paid but they weren't there I called and they were delivered an hour or so later... no worries and nice they provide this service. 2 notes . The driveway is poor, unless you pull in just right or you have a car w high clearance you will bottom out every time... this should be fixed. Also the beach chairs provided are the stadium chairs that are really uncomfortable we bought our own. Both of these things are very minor and are only intended to improve a property I highly recommend.

Nice place. Good location in Puntas. Accurate description. Clean.
We were very pleased with our stay. The description and pictures on the website were quite accurate. Gorgeous views and plenty of space. The roof top was great. We saw lots of rainbows. Beach chairs included, a plus! Be aware the fourth bedroom has its own entrance and cannot be accessed from the main part of the house. Overall we were very comfortable. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Beautiful property and sorroundings
The listing was accurate with regards to the location, layout and amenities in the house. The house is absolutely beautiful and the views are breathtaking. From the color, the art work, the layout of all the rooms - everything was well maintained and clean and resembled the online pictures. The property manager welcomed us and was available whenever we had questions or needed to borrow something (like sugar for our coffee). We also got some yummy avocados and bananas from around the property.
There is plenty of surfing beaches and quiet areas to go suntan. Plenty of restaurants and shops within driving distance. Our stay was great. We were able to relax and enjoy the stay.

Everything About Amapola is Beautiful and Clean!
I stayed at the Amapola House for 4 days with myself, 5 other adults and my 6 year old daughter. The house is beautiful as are the views and outdoor areas, and it is kept immaculately clean (which is a must for my travel companions). The photos are a perfect representation of the house. The location of the house is wonderful as it is on a "side street" rather than the next street over which can be used as a cut through to get to the beaches, so it is nice and quiet.
We were planning our next stay at Amapola halfway through our first day staying in it -- so we will be back!

We had a great time!
We had such a wonderful time on our recent stay at the Amapola House. Myself and 7 friends stayed last week for my bachelorette party. From booking the house to arranging transportation to and from the airport, Peter and Elier made the experience seamless. The house is beautiful. The bedrooms are large and the roof deck is great for hanging out on. It is a quick walk to the beach and to the local restaurants and bars such as Tamboo and Casa Verde. We were able to arrange for groceries to be dropped off at the house before our arrival so we didnt have to worry about that when we got in. I definitely recommend this house to anyone thinking of visiting Rincon and hope to come back in the near future!

Beautiful home, great location
We enjoyed our stay at the Amapola House in February. There were six of us and we were very comfortable - kitchen was well stocked, bedrooms were comfortable and everything was very clean. The rooftop deck was our favorite spot and we enjoyed the hot tub. We loved being in a real Puerto Rican neighborhood and walking to the coffee shop every morning. Lots of good restaurants and nice beaches are a short drive away. The concierge was extremely helpful with recommendations and other support. We encountered some challenges during our stay and the owner was a real pleasure to work with. He made things right and was very fair to us. We would recommend this property to friends and family.

Excellent
The house is breathtaking! I stayed for a week with 7 other friends and can say we had more than enough room for everyone. The owner is excellent at responding back quickly and is more than helpful with answering questions. I will be returning back to this rental property and can still picture the amazing sunset view from the top balcony while relaxing in the hot tube.

Great Great facillity
Overall impression with facility was great- clean and beautiful. Great view privacy, etc.
Very difficult to find and driveway needs work gravel pretty hard on car's narrow driveway sharp turn from very narrow street a little safety hazard.
A bit too expensive-
I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Everything expected and then some!
The home far exceeded what I expected. Everything has been thought of and supplied. The concierge was totally accessible and very courteous.
The home is a bit tricky to get to the first time so I suggest marking your location as "home" on your GPS once you arrive. I also recommend stopping at Wal-Mart (local supermarket if you arrive during the day) before getting to the property so you can be all stocked up and ready to enjoy the home to it's fullest potential.
BBQ grill(charcoal), full kitchen with plenty of plates, glasses, pots and pans. Even full array of drinking glasses, wine bottle openers and so on (can you say "shaken not stirred"?). Not feeling domestic? A few places by the beach to enjoy food and drinks are there. Super friendly people all around.
As for the wifi, the signal is always strong from the router but the service to it is not great. I know it can't be helped. Anyway, I didn't go there to be online. Being unplugged was welcomed.
Beach distance is short. Walk down the hill and you are there. Walking back up is another story!
Best place I have ever stayed in by far

A trip to remember
What a great place! Very up to date and clean. The views are amazing and the hot tub says it all. Great location just minutes away from everything. We will deffinatly be back.

Great villa, awesome vacation!
All my family enjoyed our time in Puerto Rico. The villa was great, exactly as described. Nice, clean, everything worked perfectly including wi-fi. Tips for beach goers, just 15 miles away is a perfect spot called "Crash Boat Beach" in Aquadilla with pristine clear water and white sand. For divers I would definitely recommend go to Desicheo Island with Taino divers. Visibility was about 100 ft, beautiful reef and shore caverns. Overall great vacation. Thanks you Anthony for a perfect place.

Rincon Stay at Amapola House
Our family stayed at the Amapola House for 5 nights over Christmas '11 ( on the western side of PR about 2 hour drive from san Juan airport ).
Positives : Amapola House well appointed and comfortable for family of 6. All modern appliances, great views of the surrounding hills and bay, terrace with Hot tub. Walking distance to Sandy beach ( great for surfing ) - although walk back is up a steep slope. Excellent coffee and muffins at the nearby bakery. Also kids loved the smoothies at Banana Dang's on Rt 413 ( we saw Treasury Secretary Tomothy Geithner with his entourage there ).
Marina at Rincon is a fun place to spend the day - snorkeling, parasailing and cheap drinks at the bar nearby. Played golf at the Aquadilla Punta Borinquen GC ( about 45 minutes drive north - near the Aquadilla airport ). Excellent value ( green fees - $ 20 - 34 inclding cart ) with great ocean views, wind is the main challenge. Grocery shopping at ECONO Grocery store.
Alos highly recommend the Banana Boat ride at Hotel Confresi. Kids loved the ride . Very reasonable ( $ 11 ) for a 20 minute thrill ride. Thai resturant "Ode to the Elephant" nearby walking distance - good food/ambiance.
Negatives : You definitely need a car to get around from Amapola House . Driving the narrow, winding and sometimes steep backroads around Rincon is not for the faint of heart. Take along your car GPS system - although roads and GPS directions do not always match up. Cable TV and internet service has a tendency to go in and out periodically. Nearby resturant Tamboo highly overrated - somewhat pricey and food so-so. Beware of booking a Snorkeling trip with Taino's ( at the Rincon marina ) - especially if they combine divers and snorkelers. Place they took us to was good for divers - but we snorkelers did not see anything ( water too deep, not enough sunlight at 4:00pm ) To their credit - Taino's gave us a substantial refund when we came back and complained.
Also went to La Parragua to see the bioluminesence . Personally thought it was overrated , although my wife enjoyed it.
Also recommend stopping in at the Old Town in San Juan on the way back to the airport on the last day. Very quaint with lots of resturants/cafes. Look for large green iguanas on the walls of the old fort.
Overall a great vacation in Rincon, PR. Great value for money. People generally very friendly . Service at some resturants can be very slow - so check before you order.
