We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unique home. Nestled at the end of a dirt road, it was a perfect setting to relax and unwind. The house was quite comfortable and charming filled with the owner’s beautiful artwork.
We had dinner at Water Street Kitchen and Bar in Wiscasset (known as the prettiest village in Maine) and highly recommend it. The food was excellent with atmosphere to match.
Boothbay Harbor is a fun walkable town with something for everyone.
We took a drive to Ocean Point and on our way back grabbed a couple lobster rolls at Ocean Point Marina, then headed back to the Dome home to enjoy on the deck overlooking the water. We were lucky to have perfect weather for it.
Breakfast the next morning at East Boothbay General Store was delicious…egg sandwiches, homemade donuts, muffins and breads.
Just a short walk away is Kerr + Jones Fine Art & Craft. I wanted everything in there!
And don’t miss Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens where you can see giant trolls by artist Thomas Dambo.
Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise 😊

This home is situated close to dozens of preserves with hiking trails of all sorts (ocean front, pine forest, steep and challenging). It sits on a tidal river that our dog just loved. The forest near the home also has some fun, short hiking available in it. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back to this charming little area!

Beautiful house with lots of charm….. gorgeous views from the deck. I was texted when we arrived to make sure we were happy with the cleanliness of the home and we were . House was supplied with plenty of towels, blankets, toiletries, cushions for outdoor furniture and games. We stayed here with our dogs who loved it as well. We would stay here again

If you want the true maine coastal cottage experience this is it, although it had more conveniences than are strictly necessary, like the dishwasher. At the end of the road, its best calling card is the peace and quiet. What a place for contemplation and relaxation!

This was my second visit to the dome house and we had a great time again. This home is secluded and peaceful while still close to Boothbay Harbor shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the outside fire pit every evening.
5.0
I arrived to late afternoon sun, breeze softened by tall pines, jade bay lighting pine boughs from underneath...serene scenes in all directions.
Sat by firepit area, then on deck to take in views of the water just yards below... Entrance to home offers convenient landing area for letting bags and shoes rest, then you can move left to the living-room "dome" or right into the airy kitchen - both directions have wide windows to take in the scenery you have just come in from and comfortable places to sit, eat, read, play games or work on your art. Good WIFI signal.
Kitchen is well-appointed for making all meals - if you don't take advantage of the excellent area restaurants. The aesthetic is easy on all the senses, and there is signage about how to use amenities there, as well as useful information about what to do in the area, including an important draw: this place is a 2-MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE BOOTHBAY BOTANICAL GARDENS!!!
Awesome quiet spot to get away to rest, meet friends, or base out of to conduct your area business. Highly recommend the Dome House in Boothbay and will return, thank you!

We had an amazing time at the Dome House. We spent a few days here watching the tide come in and out, and eating almost all our meals out on the deck. The house is very comfortable, the wifi was fast and the kitchen was easy to use. We even managed to host a couple of friends over for a dinner of scallops and lobster. As it is pet friendly, we took our dog to all the local preserves and especially liked the views at Porter Preserve. It's pretty close to Boothbay Harbor, so we went into town a few times for drinks and shopping. (We found a bookstore where all the books are $1!) It's so quiet and peaceful at night, and I enjoyed stargazing--both outside and through a skylight in the loft. The house was beautifully decorated with the owners art, and it was fun to match some of the paintings to views from the kitchen!

New furniture was super comfortable. Very clean & loved the local artwork in the home. Location is close enough to town that everything is within 15 minutes. Great time in Maine!

The property was lovely. At the end of a quiet road, overlooking the water, the dome house was a lovely. It was an excellent home base to enjoy booth bay. Also being minutes from the botanical garden was awesome, we ended up going twice.

Sitting on the deck watching the tide go in and out, breathing in the forest and the sea, cooking meals in the open kitchen, playing games in the den on rainy days, walking the dog on Tamarack trail, kayaking around the islands, walking to the general store on Hogdon island, chatting with the neighbors…..

The house was very clean and quiet at the end of a dirt road. It overlooked a tidal inlet off of the river. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the water. The house was close to town, groceries etc. There were neighbors across the inlet but they were quiet. The beds were comfortable. I would enjoy staying there again.

Close to little shops and restraunts.A few minutes away from grocery store . Right on the water . Quiet private and well stocked . Plenty of info on house and surrounding area in book in house . Everything we needed and more .

Loved our secluded little river house. Boothbay was beautiful and we hope to come back again. You'll get the title if you visited the botanical garden

Property was outstanding, clean , well equipped a great find. Only little feedback would be that older renters would appreciate access to “normal” TV

House was cute and cozy! Loved the deck by the water and that we weren’t surrounded by neighbors. Nice private location.

Beautiful cabin in great location! Overall we loved our stay here, we chose this as a central location, so we could travel around Maine but we really enjoyed Boothbay Harbor too which had great restaurant and Shoppes. The cabin is very secluded and had beautiful view of the water. The only complaint I would have was the linens bedding and towels) could have been nicer. The mattress was a little uncomfortable. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely book the dome house again..

Thank God we brought our own toilet paper, I guess one role should last for 4 nights/5 days? Floor was dirty alone with dog drool all over the sliding glass door, dog hair and on the cough/pillows! The deck was filthy. And by the way we cover the cough with a sheet for our dog!!! No instruction for heat/AC! The water looked great when the tide was in, looked real gross when it was out! The cleaning charge should be credited, my 10-year-old grandson son could have done a better job! . Will never use VRBO again and definitely never stay at the Dome House again!!!

Simply just sitting out on the porch is beyond relaxing and peaceful.. never mind the views and wildlife! Our dog Oakley also enjoyed his stay and loved wandering the woods!
We also visited Botanical Gardens, did some Lazy Jack Sailing, Barrett Park, and lots of restaurants, ice cream and cute gift shops!
We WILL be back for sure!

We had a great time while visiting Maine and this home is great for relaxing and taking in the views. Very private and comfortable with a touch of quirkiness. We hope to we can visit again in 2023.

We really enjoyed the sense of calm and beauty at this cottage by the cove. The deck had a great view, the trees were lovely and provided shade, and the surrounding area was conducive to R&R. We also thought the mattresses were super-comfortable. Thank you!

It was a beautiful spot. Very quiet. Nice view of the river.

The house was sparkling clean and very comfortable for two people and a small dog. The setting is ideal: deep woods and ocean on your own cove. The water (when the tide is in) is even closer than it looks in the pictures. We met very friendly neighbors on our daily walks and enjoyed swimming and kayaking from the community dock. The kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed eating our meals on the beautiful deck. We slept extremely well and look forward to our next stay!

Great stay at the Dome House!!!!
It was so peaceful and quite. The house was clean, comfortable, spacious, and awesome!!!! The view out the windows and on the patio was breath taking. The town of Boothbay where the Dome House is located was a friendly little town. I wanted to travel around the town more but the Dome House was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. The next time I am in Maine I will definitely stay here at the Dome House.

Late October Weekend
Beautiful spot, secluded yet easy to get into Boothbay Harbor. Convenient location for many of the Nature Preserve trails. The house was clean and comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen wares(pots, pans etc) was wonderful. Enjoying a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the cove and watching the birds was relaxing and exactly what we needed. We would book this house again.

Dome in the woods
Cute, interesting house in the woods. Very workable kitchen, nice new bath. As others mentioned the couches are not the most comfy, the tv will only stream so bring your logins and passwords for watching. Heating worked well to warm things up in mid October for us. There are other heaters/AC/dehumidifiers that could use some instruction on how/when to use.

Such a quiet place, but not isolated. Super clean. Loved the kitchen. Easy to find. Most relaxing stay I've had in awhile

Near Maine Coastal Botanic Garden
Convenient location for Boothbay activities, especially the Botanical Garden; yet a quiet and private retreat.
Totally removed from light pollution -- so great star-gazing.

Quiet area, but close to town
Loved that it was pet friendly. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, and even plastic wrap and baggies. Cute house, but beds rather hard and couch uncomfortable.

OK, but needs work….
Other than the fact that no lights worked in the kitchen, it was an adequate rental. Everything else was as advertised.

This unique house was in a beautiful, private location. It was a couple minutes drive from the Botanical Gardens and a little over 10 minute drive to downtown Boothbay. The only reason I did not give this location 5 stars was there appeared to be an electrical issue with the kitchen lighting- not a big deal we just used a lamp from a bedroom and the couches were incredibly uncomfortable. We did not spend much time inside except for the evening to maybe watch a movie but found the furniture too uncomfortable to sit on. It would have been nice to have a fan or ceiling fan in the house as well- if we were to visit again we would definitely have brought one to circulate air.
We saw lots of wild life and even had a den of fox approximately 20 feet from my vehicle which were fun to watch but had to be very careful with our dog.
Highly recommend replacing the couches and adding a fan or 2! Other then that is a was a very pleasant stay and would consider staying there again.

The Dome House was a great place to stay near all the Boothbay area has to offer, yet you feel a world away from it all. The water view changes with the tides and it is very quiet and relaxing. The accommodation is unique and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and there was even toiletries upon arrival. The beds were well made up with extra blankets and clean towels. We had a very nice stay and will be back again!

Private - Peaceful-Yet Close to town
Charming little "hobbit dome" in a wooded area also close to the botanical garden, trails and the harbor made for a lovely get-away.
