About this cottage rental
Russell Court Cottage is a beautifully modernised 18th century home, part of the original stables of historic Russell House (Grade 2 starred), which housed the Broadway Colony of artists and writers in the 1880s. Among them were Henry James, and John Singer Sargent, whose "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" was painted in the gardens..
Broadway has been described as the most beautiful village in England, and the shops, restaurants, pubs, delicatessen, art galleries and antique shops are 5 minutes' walk from the property. Broadway is the perfect centre for exploring the Cotswolds. Nearby attractions include, Cheltenham Racecourse, Stratford upon Avon, both 20 minutes away, numerous historic houses and gardens, including Hidcote and Kiftsgate gardens, Snowshill Manor, Sezincote, Sudeley Castle, Stanway House, and the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Worcester. The long distance footpath, the Cotswold Way, passes through the village, with spectacular views from Broadway Tower. Broadway is home to the kennels of the North Cotswold Hunt, and horse riding, golf and hiking are all available in or near the village.
The cottage is ideally situated for the Longborough Festival Opera, only 20 minutes away (season June to August 2022), the Broadway Arts Festival in June 2023, the Chipping Campden Music Festival (May 2022), the music and literary festivals in Cheltenham, and the Three Choirs Festival (July - August 2022) in Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford.

Russell Court Cottage has three double bedrooms, all en-suite with high quality Villeroy & Boch fittings and Matki showers. A fourth bedroom with Californian king-size bed, en-suite with walk-in shower can also be made available for parties that want more bedroom space (please enquire for pricing).
The cottage is set in its own private garden with fishpond and fountain with arbour, table and chairs for outside dining. It has its own driveway with electric gates, and parking for up to four cars. Guests also enjoy shared access to the gardens of historic Russell House, with its Gothic follies, underground ice-house, and mature trees.
The ground floor has a fully-fitted dining kitchen with two eye-level ovens, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Also on the ground floor is the reception room with open fire, television, and comfortable sofas and chairs with antique furniture and oriental rugs. One spacious double bedroom with four-poster bed and en-suite bath and shower room is situated on the ground floor with views of the gardens of Russell House.

All the showers are walk-in.

We stayed over a week with our six-year old boy and his grandparents.
The property has plenty of outdoor space for our son to run around and is very close to the city centre so walks in are very convenient. It is a lovely property and location

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief (3 night) stay at Russell Court. It is very close to Broadway center which was great for my mother to be able to walk to. It also has a ground floor bedroom which was useful for my mother who has difficulty with stairs. The place was very comfortable, well equipped, clean and has a wonderful garden and grounds which we enjoyed. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from the most lovely long weekend in Broadway. Russell Court is comfortable and cosy and feels more like a friend’s house than a holiday rental. The House it is attached to is steeped in interesting history (which we learnt more about at the Broadway museum) and the garden is exceptionally exquisite. Andrew the host is welcoming and extremely helpful. Broadway is a gem of a village with restaurants and shops in a traditional Cotswolds setting. We had a truly wonderful trip!

An amazing property with lots of history. 10 minutes walk to the high street with restaurants and shops. The property has a ground floor un suite bathroom ideal for an older person the other two bedrooms are on 1st and 2nd floor both with un suite bedrooms. Beautiful open fire place in the living room which we used everyday, go to the garage to purchase logs as the coop is more expensive. The house is very warm and comfy and we had such a lovely time celebrating the New Year. Would recommend this lovely property for couplles and families

We stayed there for Xmas - 23rd to 26th - 6 of us and had a fantastic time celebrating at both the house and in Broadway Village.
Andrew was always very responsive on all our requests and everything was there for us, noting we actually cooked a full on Xmas lunch there too.
A very short walk into beautiful Broadway offering many shops, pubs and restaurants. However always lovely to return to the house to chill out in either a really fab lounge or great kitchen. All the bedrooms were perfect size and all with ensuite's.
Anyway we will definitely be back when in the area and staying with friends - perfect - big thumbs up from all of us who had a brilliant mini Christmas vacation

My friend and I very much enjoyed our time in Broadway. The location was a great base from which to visit the Cotswolds. We also loved how easy it was to walk to get groceries at the local Coop and visit restaurants.

Russell Court Cottage was the perfect place for a long weekend away with our extended family. The owners have taken great care to ensure that the cottage furnishings are sympathetic to the age of the property and yet not missing any mod-cons.
Particular highlights include the bathrooms (all en-suite and with high quality fittings) and the kitchen, which is generously equipped and was the perfect place to cook and enjoy a roast dinner with the family. However, this is not to diminish any of the other rooms, which were all lovely places to spend time.
The outdoor spaces are wonderful, with access to rambling gardens, ample parking and even an EV charging point. The location couldn't be more central, with the attractions of Broadway High Street right on your doorstep.
We could not have been made more welcome, with Andrew taking personal care to ensure everything was as we required. Russell Court Cottage is highly recommended by us and we hope to stay again!

The property is beautiful. It is in a fabulous location which is a very easy walk to the high street. Loved the private parking. The garden is stunning. The welcome basket was a thoughtful delicious addition. Andrew was a treat to work with. We would definitely rent again.

The property was all it was advertised to be. We were all very pleased with the facilities. We do wish the property had a clothes dryer. There was a washing machine, but no dryer. We certainly wish we had stayed longer as the Cotswolds are so remarkable and the property met our needs. The garden right outside our room was so beautiful. There are additional gardens that are part of the property, but unfortunately we were not allowed to visit that part of the property. The owners have over an acre of flowers and well manicured lawns. The location is excellent as the downtown restaurant are is a short three minute walk. This is a great place for touring the Cotswolds.

Lovely, well equipped house and garden, in very good position in Broadway. The owner was very helpful in providing lots of information about the area.

The cottage was very spacious and well-equipped with high ceilings, modern bathrooms and beautiful communal gardens. I hadn't realised that there is no communal bathroom, only en-suites. The beds are doubles and relatively narrow - fine for a weekend but not sure about the comfort for a longer stay. Overall, we had a lovely weekend and the location was excellent for walking, restaurants, cafes etc. The host was very welcoming and helpful, providing recommendations for walks etc.

A post Christmas family gathering of 6 adults including elderly parents for a 3 night stay. We all agreed the property was exceptional, gardens fabulous, location perfect. Andrew was communicative and very welcoming. This had everything we needed for a relaxing break and we would not hesitate to return. Can recommend having a take away from Broadway Indian restaurant too. The welcome hamper was also a very nice touch. If I had to make one teeny suggestion, it would be to replace the extremely soft mattress in the ground floor bedroom. But on the whole, we loved it.

We loved our stay at Russell Court Cottage. Malcolm and Andrew were gracious hosts who solved a minor shower problem promptly. The property, both inside and out, is beautifully maintained and we enjoyed exploring the extraordinary garden at the attached main house. The short walk to Broadway High Street made it easy to enjoy the Friday Christmas Lights evening shopping and the excellent restaurants and pubs Andrew recommended. We appreciated the very thorough information provided by our hosts, too. We highly recommend Russell Court Cottage for a short break or longer!

Four friends and I spent 3 nights at this amazing property in Broadway. We have stayed in a number of properties throughout England for weekend breaks and we all agree that this property is the best and is far exceeds our high expectations. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Thank you to you both for a fabulous weekend.

We enjoyed the location and the Russell Court so much, we already came back again! The place is set up very nice and right at the edge of town for a short walk, but quiet and not busy at the door front. Look forward to the next trip here!

A place in paradise
We had a wonderful time in a immaculately maintained home. All comforts were provided and it was such a lovely surprise to have a welcome pack of local chocolates.
I am sure others have mentioned the beautiful gardens but they can’t be overstated. They are amazing. To wake up every morning to that beautiful garden just set the day.
The beds were super comfortable and everything was very convenient.
So five stars. Thank you Andrew and Malcom.

A magical place that is beyond VRBO description!
I found the Russell Court Cottage (RCC) years ago (during COVID) when I was searching for a convenient place for an extended stay and for exploring the Cotswolds. My husband was retiring and we needed a place to decompress and call home for almost five weeks. We knew that Broadway was a good place to be for an extended period -- great central location, flat and broad streets, a number of wonderful restaurants, grocery and other stores, easy access to Cotswolds walks and nearby villages, etc. I have high expectations when I travel and do extensive research before making travel decisions-- and due to the length of stay and importance of this trip (along with anticipated visit of friends and family), this trip was extra special and important. The photos and description on VRBO were fabulous -- and the reviews were amazing. So my expectations were high. My exchanges with Andrew (one of the owners) were delightful, helpful and supportive. Every question was answered quickly and kindly. When we arrived at the property we entered private gates off of Broadway's High Street (with parking for two or more cars which is hard to find!) and then we saw the inside of RCC. The photos couldn't capture all of the thoughtful details that the owners added -- including a written historical overview, helpful guides and information about the area, starter amenities (in the kitchen and bathrooms), attentive comforts, and a collection of period art and furnishings, high quality linens on each bed, access to the herb garden, etc. -- all beyond my expectations. BUT even with all of that, we were then blown away when we strolled the gardens! We have done many garden tours in our past, but the Russell House gardens (both the private gardens for the Cottage and the gardens we had access to behind the main house!) were beautifully maintained and offered many places to relax and take in the garden's beauty. During our stay we had multiple visitors (family and friends) and each and every person was also blown away by the home, their accommodations, the location AND the stunning gardens. Add to that a 5 - 15 minute walk to great restaurants and stores. I don't easily give five star reviews, but in this case if six stars were available I would give it -- I fully, completely and with enthusiasm recommend Russell Court Cottage as a place to stay. We will be back!

Fabulous Cotswolds Cottage
We had a fabulous break in this superb cottage. We were a party of 6 adults and the cottage had everything we needed with plenty of space, and is well equipped for self catering.
The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and is ideally situated in a quiet and peaceful location yet just a few minutes walk from the many shops, pubs and restaurants in Broadway. There are also many lovely countryside walks from the door. Would particularly recommend walking to Toddington, stopping on the way for drinks in Stanton at the Mount Inn, and taking the steam train back from Toddington to Broadway.
The owners were very helpful with local recommendations and telling us the history of the house and the gardens, which were beautiful.
All in all a fantastic stay!

Wonderful Cotswolds Stay
We stayed at the Russell Court cottage for 4 nights and loved it. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is a short walk to several restaurants and shops but very quiet and peaceful. The gardens are beautiful and the hosts were very helpful with suggestions of restaurants, shops etc. We will definitely try to stay there again on our next visit to the UK.

Superb is an understatement for this cottage
Let me start by saying that I'm very finicky about cleanliness and the condition of any accommodation. For this reason, we typically stay in hotels rather than private rentals. However, for this trip, it was better for us to stay in a cottage/house. With that in mind, I can say that this property was immaculate, elegant, well-kempt, and beautiful. It was equivalent to staying in a five-star hotel. The VRBO pictures don't really do it justice. It's even prettier in person.
We loved the cottage and found it perfect for us traveling with our daughter and her boyfriend. We had the downstairs (ground level) bedroom with a full bathroom (love the two wall-mounted towel heaters), while they took one of the upstairs rooms - plenty of privacy for everyone.
This attached cottage rich in history is very quiet, private, and surrounded by lovely gardens. We spent our evenings in the beautiful living room and used the wood-burning fireplace on the last evening. The television allowed us to connect to Netflix, and we also enjoyed access to numerous local channels as well. We had a few questions and Andrew was very quick to answer or help.
The kitchen is spacious and had everything we needed to bring in takeaway dinners and prepare breakfasts.
The location of the property is excellent and less than one block to the charming main shopping/restaurant area of the high street in Broadway. (Try the excellent Indian restaurant just a couple of minutes away.) The two notebooks of recommended places to eat or visit were hugely helpful.
Lastly, the gardens are beautiful. I'm an avid gardener and, although it is winter, it was lovely. (It would make an idyllic spot for a garden wedding!)
Be sure to read Andrew's written history of the property. It is fascinating; art and history lovers will recognize some famous names in the home's early history.
We would return in a heartbeat to this property and can't recommend it highly enough.

Enchanting !
We had such a great week in Russell Court - in deep mid winter ! - that we immediately booked for another stay in July.
The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped, with attention to details and a great deal of charm.
Perfect location ( being able to walk straight into Broadway at anytime is such a joy ).
Andrew and Malcom were perfect hosts : generous - helpful, but discreet.
Can’t wait to return !
