About this house rental
Historic Steiner cabin in the Mountain Air community. It was built in 1925 but it boasts everything a house in 2023 should have.
Located just a short walk down from the cabin is the Sandy River. There is a nice trail with a bench along the river, and sandy beaches that all provide plenty of places for you to fish or meditate and your dog to chill and enjoy the smells and scenery.
Just across the street is the Wildwood Recreation Day Use Site. It is located on the Salmon River.
It is the perfect place for any age!
Informational and historical plaques describe the ecosystems and local culture, and it features plenty of daytime waterfront picnic sites.
The highlight is the underwater viewing chamber where you can witness the mama salmon heading to their nesting grounds, and the baby fry just getting started out in life.
The park itself if ginormous and and has plenty of paved ADA trails for older adults. Biking trails are available as well. The boardwalk beaver wetlands that is full of red wing black birds is also a top favorite.
The property is a perfectly flat half acre with lots of 80-100 year old trees and 2 open lawn spaces on which to play badminton, volleyball, whiffle ball, fetch, etc.
The kitchen comes fully stocked and there is a Weber gas grill on the front deck, as well as outdoor dining furniture/dishes.
The bedding is cozy and luxurious on all the beds - a good night's sleep is important when you're adventuring.
One of the bedrooms is in the rec-room outbuilding, which also boasts a full bar, pool table, HDTV smart Samsung, new gaming systems, stereo, and a private courtyard with a fire pit and hot tub - this place was built for partying, to be honest. Great place for teens to have a good time with their friends as well!
There is wifi all over the property and the internet is blazing fast (google's words, not mine).
Wood pellet stoves in both buildings provide the coziness of a wood stove without any hassle of starting a fire yourself.
The location is excellent; in the summer time, it's a scenic walk down Wemme Trail or Mountain Air to get to the restaurant district in Welches; in the winter time, we are 13 miles from Ski Bowl, 20 miles to Timberline, and 25 miles to Mt Hood Meadows.
Mountain biking, snow shoeing, skiing, hiking, fishing, and mountaineering are some of the top activities in this area.
Sandy Ridge Bike Park is less than a 10 minute drive.
The house is close to the highway, but the trees are so dense that it is perfectly quiet in the house and outside it's muffled and just sounds windy during the busiest times.
The weekends are a bit louder since there is so much more traffic, but there is so much to do in the house’s immediate vicinity that finding peace and quiet is never challenging.

The home was lovely. Only issues I would note is the hot tub was not clean (lots of dirt in water and the seats looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, also there was a filmy look on the water surface), there was an excessive amount of cameras in the rec room, and no usable outlet in the bathroom.

Charming house for a short stay

I was excited about this property since it had exceptional reviews, but was very disappointed. The pictures made it look a lot more inviting than it is. The cabin and cottage were very dirty, including black/grey fuzzy mold growing in large patches on the ceiling of the cottage. We spent no time in the cottage due to that. It seems like quite a health hazard to me. I understand it's an old property, but I felt dirtier than if I was just camping in a tent. The bbq would not light, so we were unable to use it. Maybe I have high standards, but this property was dirty, falling apart and the beds were very uncomfortable. I cannot recommend or give this any kind of exceptional rating.

Had a great time at the cabin. The description is accurate and the check-in instructions were easy to follow. I would recommend checking out wild wood park that is just down the road.

Our group was myself, my daughter and her husband and their 13 year old daughter. We did a lot of exploring in the Oregon City/Clackamas area and even made a trip into downtown Portland to visit Powell bookstore. The property had everything we needed. Ample places to sleep. My granddaughter enjoyed the gaming system and we had fun tring to teach her to play pool and playing Charades. We even hot-tubbed in the rain! This was my second time at this cabin and both trips were very enjoyable.

Couldn’t get the pellet stove to work in the rec house and the water in the shower only got Luke warm but none of that made a difference really. The cabin was amazing and we had a wonderful time! We will most definitely be back!

Location was very convenient to mountain ski bus. Very close to groceries and a cute espresso cafe.

This is our second time staying at the house. Great location!! The house is really cool. The kitchen is stocked with anything you may need.
The rec room is so much fun. We had a great time.
Sadly, this time we noticed a few things that needed repairs.

We totally enjoyed ourselves and would reserve again.

It comes in a cozy cabin and next to it is the rec room which has plenty of entertainment for a weekend getaway.

My partner and I took our first real get away here and had an amazing time as the cabin is super cozy. I really liked the little touch of lights throughout in the evening. The kitchen is well stocked as is the bathroom. Downstairs bedroom also cozy right off the living room. You have to go thru the rec room to get to the private back yard that has a hot tub so we didn’t take advantage of that during our short stay. We overall enjoyed the space and location on the mountain.

This sweet Steiner cabin was wonderful for our stay over Thanksgiving. The kitchen has plenty of pans and dishes to prepare a nice, complete dinner. The upstairs and main house bedrooms were very cozy, and the spacious bathroom suited our family.
Renters should know that getting and keeping the pellet stove in the recreation building going is an involved process. We didn’t brave the incinerator toilet in the rec building. I wouldn’t really count that as a second bathroom as it’s only the incinerator toilet and no running water to wash up with.

Very cozy cabin with lots of fun packed in!

Is a beautiful cabin, location is good, we had a lot of things to do around there, I have 2 kids (11-16 years old) they loved and enjoyed the rec room! You can realx in the hot tub also!

We loved the location and the game room. This led to a very relaxing weekend.
However, we initially chose this property because it said it has 2 full baths and there were 2 couples (always nice to have your own space and privacy). We did not find 2 full bathrooms but rather 1 full bathroom and a composting toilet (I think, required changing a bag with each use) without a shower or sink as listed.
This was disappointing with all of the other great features of this property.

My kiddos enjoyed the pool table and we all enjoyed the hot tub. It was a very nice stay. My only suggestion would be that it might be nice to provide more towels -- there were only two for our family of four.

Was looking for a great anniversary present and retreat for my wife and I , this cabin was well above our expectations, very clean inside and out ,the game room was stocked with so many options, the patio was a great spot to hang out and let’s just say this was the cleanest hot tub I have ever seen at a rental . There is everything you need in this cabin ,we will definitely e back and next time will bring the kids just the best weekend ever thank you

Overall very nice and loved the location, beautiful shady cottage close to what we were interested in. Nicely stocked kitchen and appliances. Coffee maker wasn’t working but coffee places are right up the road.
Hot tub and pool table and video games were a nice perk.
Disappointed that we partly based our decision to book this based on 2 bathrooms, which, according to the listing, both had a toilet, tub-shower combination, and sink. There is only one bathroom. And then some type of incinerator toilet in the rec room, which was very weird and nobody used. No running water in the rec building either. We expected both.
The outside string lighting above the deck did not work, it was hard to grill outside if it was getting dark.
Overall a very nice place. I would change the description in the listing to one full bathroom, however.

We enjoyed our weekend at the cottage. The location is great. The river was close & Mt activities a short drive.
There were a few amenities that weren't working properly but the host had great communication with us. Thank you again Brian.

We enjoyed this cabin! We played pool, soaked in the hot tub, watched TV, played games, ate good food in the area and relaxed. It was a little adventure figuring out which light switch worked for each room. Also enjoyed the glowing ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. It is a truly lovely historic cabin.

Cute cozy place for family time and we liked the separate space in rec room for early to bedders or early riser quiet time. Wish we were there longer .

Loved the woodsy surroundings making it like camping without the hassle. Hanging on deck w family enjoying trees. Beds were comfortable. Game room, roomy n fun. Only thing us there's actually one full bath and 1, quite interesting commode closet!

I have stayed at a lot of vacation rentals and this was by far the best.
The rec room was amazing!! We never left the entire time because there was so much to do. We played pool, board games, sat in hot tub and relaxed.
The house is so cute and comfy. It had everything we needed. I’m can’t recommend this place enough!!!

Cabin was exactly as listed. Very clean. Best stocked kitchen of any we have stayed at. Staircase was beautiful, although very creaky. Adult son stayed in the separate rec room bedroom and was comfortable once he figured out the pellet stove. Recommends bringing slippers as the floors are cold! Adult daughter and I stayed in the cabin with the dog and were quite cozy. Place is ideally located, close to many places to go and things to see. Very quiet, especially considering how close it is to the highway. Would definitely stay there again.

Thanks for our stay. We had a good time! I did however forget to start the dishwasher, so sorry. I did start a load of linens and towels. Also, the bedroom in the Rec room was not slept in but the futon and couch were by the kiddos. Thanks again and have a great rest of your weekend. - Gabrielle

We were in town for just 2 nights, so spend some time with our adult aged kids and do some skiing. The location and price point alone met our expectations, the recreation room was an added bonus.
Brian was extremely responsive and helpful in answering my many questions both before and during the trip. Thank you!!! This customer service is always worth coming back for!
The previous reviews are all very accurate, and provide details into things that could be problematic if you were staying longer. Such as how cold the rec room is, and the lack of room for suitcases in the cabin bedroom. For us, it wasn't really an issue, and I'd stay here again for a short term stay.
We appreciated the board games, and my boys even stayed up late playing video games (just like old times).
If you are a coffee drinker, be forewarned, the automatic coffee maker doesn't work. Luckily I was very familiar with using a French press. Other than the coffee maker, the kitchen was well equipped to make all meals.

I didn’t realize the rec room was a separate building…but other than that, it was a wonderful house. Lots of room! Lots of games! Very fun!

This is a great cabin to stay in. We had some minor issues with the pellet stove and Brian was able to help us get it fixed in a timely manor. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful.

This place was great for us (2 adults & 2 young kids) as we just wanted a cozy getaway spot to spend a couple nights while playing at Mt. Hood. The most impressive part was Brian’s communication and willingness to go out of his way to ensure we had the best experience during our short stay. We had trouble with the wood pellet stove in the living room and he was right on top of getting it taken care of for us, even though we said it wasn’t necessary for our short stay. (He was right though… that place is so cozy with that thing running!) It was fun to take a quick stroll down to the river and everything in the house was as advertised. We would stay here again!
