About this cabin rental
This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the late 1920's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and air conditioning wasn’t even thought of at that time. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.
All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.
This one room cabin is 202 sq ft and sleeps 2 people in the queen size bed which adjoins the kitchen and dinette. The bathroom is simple, the shower is warm and the kitchen has everything to cover your basic needs. The spacious 10’x7' enclosed porch overlooks the water. A perfect area to enjoy a quiet evening watching the loons. The cabin has 1 electrical outlet near the bed and other electrical outlets minimally located throughout the cabin.
Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.
Pets are welcome on the property for an additional fee of $25 per night / per pet, paid at time of arrival if not otherwise paid. This includes pets of your visitors to the property.
Free Parking is available for 1 vehicle per cabin. 1 boat/trailer per cabin is also free but are required to be parked in designated area elsewhere on the property. Extra vehicles require a $25 per day fee and must also be parked in a designated area elsewhere on the property. This includes vehicles of your visitors to the property.

Location to the lake was amazing! Loved waking up and looking out at the lake, however it wasnt the best for swimming. It was hot when we were there so it would be nice to be able to open more windows. Really glad i brought a fan. It was really cute with a little more work it would be excellent. With that being said i believe the posting was honest, i got what i was expecting.

Beautifully picturesque setting. Information in greeting folder at cabin should be included in VRBO descriptions. Had a fun time exploring them exploring the area.

We had a great time.(4) Cottages for us, our (3) adult children and their children were very comfortable. The screen porches were an added bonus. All want to come back to enjoy the lake and cottages. Many things to do within a (30) mile radius.

If you love rustic, this is the place for you. The cabin has a nice kitchen, bathroom and bed. If you’re looking for everything perfect this is not the place for you, but the price is fantastic and the accommodations are very acceptable.

We had a phenomenal stay! The cabin was so cute and clean and had a wonderful view of the lake! The owner Ritchie was such an amazing guy to work with and is an incredible host! He went out of his way to make sure we had the perfect time there! Will be coming back to stay there for sure!!

Great experience. It was our 10th anniversary and we wanted a quite place to just get away. This was THAT! Close to the UP, which was what we wanted, very quiet, welcomed out dogs. It was tiny, but we expected and welcomed that. The bed was comfy, the cabin was clean, the kitchen had what we needed, the check in and check out process was simple. We even added a night without problem! Highly recommend

The property was very clean, and everything that we could have asked for.. Ritchie was absolutely awesome.. we blew a breaker in our cabin and I called him and he was there in less than 2 minutes and had it fixed.. He was very friendly and very prompt about everything. We arrived way earlier than we anticipated and he made sure the cabin was ready for us on very short notice.. we will definitely be returning next year.. it was an absolutely great place and we had an incredible time.

What a wonderful place! Cabin was super clean and simple. We loved it. The view was spectacular. The closeness of the cabins encouraged meeting your neighbors. That was a nice bonus. We'll stay again next time we're in the area.

Stayed 2 days. Feels like you are very remote but in reality it’s probably a 15 minute drive to Mackinac city which is very touristy and great access to the ferry to Mackinac Island.

I’d love to come back with my family occupying the adjoining cabins because they’re so intimately spaced. So serene and beautiful.

We loved our little cabin lakeside. The location was wonderful as it’s under 10 minutes to Mackinaw City! It was perfect to come home to after a busy day of island life. The lake is peaceful and the view was wonderful.

This property is as described and shown in photos. It is small, we had awesome sleep as the bed is comfortable. It is accurately described and depicted in photos and is what we expected. Outside mosquitoes are prevalent but there is screen in porch. It was quiet and we slept well for our 1 night stay.

This little cabin was everything we were looking for. The communication was perfect. Location is close to anything you want up north. We had no idea that Carp Lake even existed before coming here and now we plan to come back every year. There was absolutely no cons about the cabin and a million pros. Too many to list.

Great getaway for a relaxing weekend on the lake but close enough to area sites and attractions. We will stay again.

Great!
Ritchie was helpful getting settled and the cabin was great. It was clean and the private picnic table and fire pit were fantastic. We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise over the lake. Very close to the dark sky park and other great attractions. We hope hope to back.

Cozy Weekend Getaway!
My husband and I took a weekend trip up to MI to go see Mackinac Island. This was the perfect place to stay for our trip! Very cozy place to sleep and we loved waking up to the beautiful sunrises over the lake! Would highly recommend.

Awesome quant cabin
LOVED this cabin. Exactly what I was looking for and had everything you need for a couple night stay. Clean and a beautiful view of the lake. My friend and I (23 yr old females) were nervous about staying somewhere by ourselves in a cabin but this was so comfortable, easy to access and felt 100% safe. Thank you for the great stay!

Super loud, dirty. Definitely don't recommended for couples.
Looked cute online and driving up to it but very dirty, loud, crowded, incredibly rowdy complex of cottages. Luckily my husband and I were only there one night and barely in the cottage except to clean and sleep several hours. We'd have left if it were a 2 day stay.
Few things made me give a 1 star (historically give 5 stars on these things):
--We asked the property manager what they did to clean for covid (my very ill older father is staying with us this summer so wanted to be extra careful) and was assured the place was disinfected/all surfaces people would touch cleaned. We ended up having to redo all of the surfaces with our cleaning products, dirt on the main table just coated the paper towel.
--*Super* close to other cabins, which is fine except there was a big group of loud and obnoxious high school or college aged guys in the cottage right next to us. SO loud, and the property manager apparently didn't care, we saw him talking to a couple of them a couple cottages down while the music blared and the others were yelling. We came back to the cabin just to sleep after midnight and the noise hadn't abated. We turned Netflix on really high to try to cover their noise, not exactly what a couple is looking for.
--Bathroom: Pic online cuts off the particularly ugly part, also they only left a teeny sliver of barsoap for us to wash hands. Stained handtowels. And fyi the toilet is really hard to navigate if you're 6 ft tall, tucked in a small corner.
-- Screened in porch nice idea, pretty view, but really dirty.
Nice view of sunrise over pretty beautiful lake is only positive thing I can say about our stay. Lovely area thou!

Great time!
We loved staying in cabin #2. Small, quaint and quite - perfect for the two of us and our weekend retreat. Very close to Mackinaw City making! Easy to visit the island, yet out of town far enough for a relaxing stay.

Perfect upgrade from camping in a tent
The owner Ritchie was very friendly and accommodating. I was looking for a place that was close to Mackinaw but not just another hotel room. The 1920's cabin was rustic but had plenty of hot water, a basic kitchenette, and was toasty snug on the unusually cold nights this June. The 1900 acre lake is gorgeous and was right outside our door. We definitely plan on coming back and I have already recommended this place to numerous friends.

All was simple and easy, comfortable, quiet. Perfect for fishing, boating and enjoying away from hustle and bustle in Mackinaw city.

Very cozy!
It was just my wife and I so we had the number 2 cabin which was the smallest one and we loved it. It was cloudy in the morning otherwise we would have seen the sunrise. The reason we went there was because we wanted to go to Headlands Dark Sky Park about 15 minutes away. And there is where you can watch the sunset and possibly the Moon going down as well. Harbor Lights Grill was only a minute One Direction down the road. This place definitely one of the coziest restaurants on the water I've been to. Everybody is friendly. At night we decided to go to Clyde's bar / restaurant. Didn't even make it out of second gear that was so close. One of the best pizzas we've had! That was a last-minute decision so it was late, music wasn't jamming and people were Rowdy but extremely friendly. I would honestly not want to eat anywhere else other than the two places mentioned the next time we go. I encourage people to look into these two restaurants so they were both great. Ritchie, the man who runs Lakeside Cabins is great as well. He knows the area and can direct you anywhere and gave us the idea to go to Boyne Mountain for free chairlift to look at fall colors and that was awesome. There, we went inside and had a couple drinks and then went back to the cabin. Can't wait to visit the place again. And oh yeah, you are right smack on the lake. Each cabin has Those galvanized burn rings to have a fire and you can cook over those too if you want. I'm sure I can include more butt getting ready for work

Cute, cozy cabin
My husband and I did a two night stay and enjoyed our time! It was clean and the owner was very helpful. It was a nice cozy, quaint location. Just a short drive from Mackinaw city! We plan on visiting again!

Great place to stay!
If you are looking for a quaint and cozy cottage -- like the ones you went to when you were growing up, this is the place for you!! Ritchie has just acquired it and, is working hard to get it in the best possible shape (and doing a great job!).. Right on the lake (which has great fishing), fire pit, dock, boat launch next to the cabins and -- only 6 miles out of Mackinaw City!! Also, Lake Michigan is about a 15 minute ride (Wilderness State Park, as well as off road parking around the dunes)... If you are looking for a "Taj Mahal" type place, you should head elsewhere!! This place is for those who enjoy a little bit of "rustic" with good plumbing and close to a main highway! I plan on staying again!!! Thanks Ritchie for being a host that is willing to do a 2 night rental of a cottage!! Hard to find in Northern Michigan (most are week long rentals only)... I really appreciate that you are willing to do it!!! Will be loading some pictures to your Facebook page soon!!! :-)
