The property is exactly as it is listed. It is set away from the other structures with the native forest. It is cool enough at night not to need ac. No issues with power or water. The bed was very comfy. I would stay here again.

Easy accessible check in when we needed it after hours.
Rustic cabin in a scenic forest with the basics which is what we asked for. Enough cutlery and kitchen amenities to cook your own meals which was great.
Perfect for sleeping after a long day in the national park.

Definitely need a car to stay here. Perfect off grid location between Puna and the Volcano National Park.

It's down a long gravel road, which is a pain from perspective of a rental car. When we finally got to gate it was a flimsy sheet metal. Then inside the gate you find a "mechanic" shop of sorts, then five cabins with cars in various states of repair scattered across the property. No tv in our cabin, smelled of mold, no ac. We ended up just booking another VRBO in a safer area that was better taken care of, and was more solidly built. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone but a bachelor with strong lungs who just wants a moldy spot to camp. Loft is indeed only made of 2x4, which isn't quite enough strength in my opinion. Price is the only thing going for this place, but for my wife and I we'd rather have a clean, healthy place to stay on vacation.

The property was very trashed and did not feel safe. We actually booked somewhere else and didnt even stay but for about 30/40 minutes.

I'm all for budget traveling, but basic health and safety should be a priority even in cheap places to stay.
The abandoned vehicles just outside the fence was the first sign this place was going to be sketchy.
The junk vehicles INSIDE was the second. But nothing could prepare me for the cabin itself.
Front step was rotten. Overall construction was shoddy... and showed a complete lack of basic understanding of construction techniques. The front door was hung inside out. The "bathroom" window was installed upside down, so it couldn't be closed.
The loft area floor sagged, because they used 2x4's for ceiling joists to span 12'. (2x4s should only span 4') I'm amazed the loft hasn't collapsed.
The wiring was sketchy, and the car cigarette lighter jury rigged to a wire going inside an outlet was extra special.
A giant brass propeller was hung using a bolt, but nothing to prevent it from coming loose during say, an earthquake, which the area is known for. Just don't be anywhere near that prop if things start shaking.
The final straw for me was that the loft reeked of mold. I could deal with the rest, but I'm not going to be breathing that crap in every night.
Literally everything about this place was questionable.
This "cabin" should be burned to the ground before the sketchy wiring does it for them.
I've seen children build better forts than this POS.

I know this is a super budget friendly rental, but it was worse than I ever expected. I’m not sure about all the other people who reviewed this place, but it was very dirty, has black mold in the ceiling panels above the bed and was definitely not built to any building codes. The shower and sink backed up on me twice. The jerry-rigged duct taped car charger/USB plug-in in the bedroom area is also a major wiring hazard! I found myself some place else to stay and checked out of there ASAP.

A perfect, quiet, remote getaway location. You need transportation to see any sites. Has everything a minimalist needs!

Rustic off the beaten path with no frills. Safe and great for a short stay down a semi maintained dirt road. The cabin matched the description by the owners. Great rainforest sounds and beautiful, in a pinch would stay again!

This cabin was exactly what I was looking for - a place to lay my head after a long day hiking at Volcano National Park. A pretty short drive, less than 30 mins from the park (though make sure to follow the instructions provided and don't rely only on GPS). Self-check in was easy, even at night when we arrived. Listing was very transparent about what is offered, and that the toilet is in the same space as the bedroom (so if you're here with another person, make sure you're VERY comfortable around them). There is a certain musty oder that is difficult to get used to, so be aware if you have sensitive lungs. This place is really meant for those who need a cheep place to crash, and it does that very well!

Exactly the place we expected. Small and cute, but simple cottage built with love. We definitely enjoyed our week there.

Cabin on gravel road
The cabin was fine for having a place to rest our head at the end of the night. I should have done more due diligence as the cabin is at the very end of a long gravel/dirt road, takes a very long time to get down this road.
The listing showed a TV, there was a TV mount but no TV on it. My husband stepped on the front deck and the board busted. We let the property know and they thanked us for telling them but no apologies or asking if we were ok. The photos do not show the amount of stuff laying around on the property. The cabin itself was fine.

Jungle vacation
We stayed for a short time of 3 nights but we really felt at home in the Grandma’s house (cabin #2) on this welcoming and lovely property! The hosts are very nice and generous, their kid and dog were charming as well! We had a lot of things that were included in the house such as drinkable water. We were happy to be thaught how they filter the collected water and how they make electricity as well. Every dishes we needed was there too. It was a great experience and I would definitely suggest to rent a car to go there:)

Real Hawaii
If you are looking for a place to lay your head and a good shower while staying local this is the spot on the Big Island! The place is rustic as described but more spacious than the photos. They supply everything you need to make a hot meal. You are serenaded at night by the coqui frogs as the island breeze soothes you to sleep. The only issue is the dirt road is a little bumpy getting there and both google and Apple Maps cannot find it, so follow their great directions.
We enjoyed the stay and will visit again.

Cabin itself is perfect
Extremely CLEAN, cute cabin with a restroom, electricity, TV, and hot shower... but we were completely surprised at the location. It's rural (which is fine), but it's on a property with quite a few other cabins and they're ll basically in the property owner's backyard. LOTS of rusty cars, junk, and stuff everywhere. The property description and other reviews did not tell us about this, so I thought I'd let future vacationers know.

Great little cabin for Hawaiian getaway!
This place was really cute! A great little rainforest getaway! There is reverse osmosis drinking water supplied as well as multiple sinks, a shower, a microwave and an medium electric cooler/fridge that keeps your stuff really cold! Great place for a couple on a getaway! The location of the property made it feel like we were in a secluded little paradise. The owner was super nice and helpful. He was very responsive to any question or concern I had and made me feel very welcome there. I would absolutely love to stay there again and I was sad to leave!

Beeindruckende Erfahrung im Regenwald
Lage im Wald, daher immer feuchtes Klima und lange Wege. Vermieter sehr freundlich und engagiert. Haus maximal zu zweit mieten.

Rustic, cool experience.
Keith & Jen have created a vision in the jungle. They are kind and generous. We stayed with a small family with no problems. Just FYI, got one bar of T-Mobile LTE upstairs.
