About this house rental
'The Nook' is a 3 bedroom cottage/ranch style house in a small, quiet, child safe neighborhood, tucked away from all the hustle & bustle of Hyannis yet close enough when a "night out on the town" is needed. There are numerous shops & restaurants, ferry's to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard and the famous Cape Cod Melody Tent with it's summer concert series. The house is just steps (200 Ft.) to the private association beach with dock on beautiful Lake Wequaquet. The lake/beach has a sandy bottom and is perfect for kids who like to swim and jump off a dock. In the evenings you can even enjoy the spectacular sunsets while the kids fish off the end of the dock. This is a great place to get away from it all, relax and enjoy quality time with your family. Sit on one of 2 outdoor decks and enjoy the lake view while dining on our oversized picnic table or just curl up on one of our lounge chairs with a good book for some peace & quiet. If your interested in the ocean (5 minute drive), one the best beaches on the cape is Craigville Beach, which has life guards and snack shack.
The homes 1st bedroom (queen) is off of the living room with view of the lake, 2nd & 3rd bedrooms (full & 2 twins) are located in back of house off dining room. The living room, dining room & kitchen have cathedral ceilings with ceiling fans, 1 full bath with laundry, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, AC units in each bedroom (no central AC), gas grill, picnic table, lounge chairs & 2 hammocks. Also provide 4 beach chairs for renters to use.

The Nook is exactly as advertised. The little cottage has everything you need. Wendy the owner was very responsive with any question we had and helped us very quickly when we accidentally locked ourselves out.

We live in Centerville, but our house was filled with family visiting for the week, so rented the Nook for our daughter, son-in-law and two young children. They absolutely loved the cozy cottage and the secluded location, especially a view of the lake from the cottage. They would all love to return next summer!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Nook! Our young kids had a great time splashing and wading in the lake — nice sandy area, warm water in late August. House was cozy, perfect for our family of four. Easy drive to shops and the beach. Highly recommended!

Spectacular stay at the Nook. Our second stay at this gem of a cottage. The lake is beautiful and it is centrally located on the cape. Our family could not love this place more!

I brought my 15 year old son and 2 of his friends for a wonderful week on Lake Wequaquet, and the Nook was the perfect place to rest and relax. We created so many fun memories in the beautiful lake as well as the cottage (the Nook). The easy access to the lake’s beach and dock was perfect, (it was so private, we barely had to share the beach with any other people, not that we would have minded, because everyone is so friendly in the neighborhood.) The Nook was the best place for us to stay because of its ideal size, (3 bedrooms) and it is well equipped for a full week on the Cape. The kitchen has everything you would need, the beds are very comfortable and the decor is quintessential Cape Cod. The location (at least for our family) is perfect. Close enough to Hyannis and the north side. If you are looking for a relaxing, easy and memorable week on the Cape, you could do no better than the Nook.

We really enjoyed staying at the Nook, swimming in Lake Wequaquet, enjoying coffee on the porch, and swinging in the hammocks. It's also conveniently located and quiet. The owner let us borrow sand toys as well, which was nice. Note that the place does not include beach towels so bring those.

My husband and I stayed at the Nook for July and overall had a lovely experience. It’s a typical older Cape cottage but has been well maintained and was quite comfortable. The window AC units are a bit noisy and when we asked for window fans, Wendy provided two new ones which were much appreciated. She always answered our calls promptly and I’m sure if there had been any problems that she would have taken care of them quickly and pleasantly.
The location of the cottage is convenient to everything and being on the lake is a nice change from the ocean beaches. The water is very clear and the temperature is just right. Because we drove, we brought noodles and it would be nice if there were some of those and maybe some rings for guests to use. This is a family neighborhood with few rentals but everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. It’s very quiet and peaceful and feels far removed from the hustle and bustle of the Cape.

Nice stay at the nook
My family enjoyed our stay at the Nook. The location is unbeatable, suitable for day trips to every corner of cape cod, and minutes from most amenities on the Cape. The property itself is well-kept and had everything we needed. A final note that the host, Wendy went out of her way to provide us with supplies in case a hurricane that was scheduled to hit the Cape during our time there knocked the power out (thankfully the storm never materialized).

"The Nook"
The Nook was absolutely perfect for my family. We loved the secluded feeling and the quiet that surrounds the pond. My kids loved swimming and floating in the pond (which looks more like a lake to us--it was surprisingly big) on the off days we weren't exploring the rest of the cape. The location was great for easy access to beautiful Centerville and the neighboring towns. The house was extremely clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked and even had a few extra dry goods in case you forget something. It was a charming home with an attentive host that was perfectly inviting, and we can't wait to return!

A family retreat 5 stars
From the moment I saw The Nook online to the moment we checked out, perfect!
Booking was a breeze and the owners were delightful and communicative all the way throughout. We all felt very much at home and every wish was met.
Location was wonderfully convenient and also tucked away.
House was large but felt very warm and welcoming.
Every amenity needed was available yet we felt very much on vacation from it all.
We will book again! Can’t wait to go back!

Great location
We loved how we were on the lake; it felt secluded and quiet. We rented kayaks and spent time swimming and enjoying the atmosphere. We were also really close to Craigville Beach so we were also able to enjoy the ocean - love that beach. Hyannis center was so close, as well as, many other beaches and restaurants. We were glad to be there and will hopefully stay again in the future.
The home was also very clean and had a cozy feel.

excellent vacation
We enjoyed our stay very much. We found the house to be a nice balance between being very functional and still preserving some old charm. The location itself is beautiful, next to a lake and close to public beaches, ponds, shops, towns, restaurants. Wendy was very responsive, when the the grill run out of gas she came over within a half hour to replace the tank. We highly recommend the place.

A Beautiful and wonderful week at the Nook
Our family of 6 loved staying at the Nook. Our 4 kids, ages 7, 7, 6, and 2 loved the convenience of being able to walk down the short path to the lake. We all enjoyed swimming in it and kids loved jumping off the dock. We were also close enough to drive to the beach a couple days and check out different ice creams shops, mini-golf and even a drive to Wellfleet to see the drive in movie. The house is adorable, clean, and welcoming. Wendy was awesome during the rental process and very responsive. We didn't have any need to contact her during our stay. We hope to return to the Nook and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation with the option of being a short drive away to restaurants, shops and beach.

Great spot for a Cape Cod vacation !
Stayed at The Nook from August 3rd to 10th 2019. The cottage was very comfortable for our party of 5. Very clean and well equiped. The location made it easy to visit upper, mid and lower Cape areas. Best of all was the access to Wequaquet Lake, just steps away. My husband and I really enjoyed having an early morning cup of coffee or a late afternoon glass of wine on the dock while the kids enjoyed swimming in the warm water.

Week at the Nook
The house was beautiful and in a great location. Access to the lake and beaches was perfect, the neighbors were friendly and we really enjoyed our week. My cousin stayed in the room with the double bed and found the bed uncomfortable but other than that I would highly recommend this.

Perfect for a family with two kids!
Sat. to Sat. stay for our family of four from Alexandria, VA. After a hectic drive from Boston, we immediately noticed the peace and quiet when we exited our SUV at the Nook cottage. Loved the cleanliness upon arrival, the beautiful vintage flooring, and the tidy layout of the house, with more privacy for the master bedroom on one side of the house and the other two bedrooms on the other side.
We quickly found we had to run the A/C units all night (on low) as it became a hot week. Comfortable sleeping, though. Used the kitchen for a few dinners and everything needed was evident. The Keurig was a nice addition. A few bugs in the evening but surprisingly not bad outside.
The water was clean and shower pressure good, hot water nice and fast. No garbage disposal or dishwasher but hey, it was just like my youth, haha.
Overall, we loved returning to the Nook each day after explorations across the Cape all week. Would gladly rent again, as Wendy was very responsive to my many inquiries and the Nook was just what we needed. Enjoy!

Lovely house and location, beatifull views of lake. Was great to have lake location to contrast with cape cod’s many beaches. Never knew lake swimming was so nice.

A little slice of heaven on the Cape
Recently returned from a visit to Cape Cod with friends and had the good luck of booking The Nook. Our party of 4 was extremely comfortable in this charming lakeside cottage - we had plenty of room to spread out and it had everything you could need in a home away from home. The location was perfect - close to Hyannis (great for taking the ferry to Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard) and easy to get to all points on the Cape. The cottage itself has an historic charm and sits a quick two minute walk to a lovely quiet lake through some beautiful woods. From the porch, where we ate breakfast, we could see the lake and the dock became our favorite spot to sip champagne and watch the sunset with perfect western views. Wendy, our host, was wonderful to deal with, very helpful with extending extra time for check in/out and offering suggestions to local sights. When we realized one of the beds did not have linens, she responded immediately and brought them right over - excellent service! About the only complaint, aside from some aggressive mosquitos at the lake (which can hardly be Wendy's fault) was the two smaller bedrooms were on the darker side. The wood paneling that gives them charm also makes it a bit dim in there, but this could easily be remedied with an extra light fixture and was not a deal breaker in any way for us. We would, and hope to, get back to The Nook again soon!

Hidden treasure!
The Nook is exactly as shown online, the house is hidden away in a in a wooded area down a dirt road, within eye shot of a beautiful lake, within a 5 minute drive you are in the midst of everything you need shopping wise, there are so many places to eat, Cooks, The black Cat, Pain D'avinon were some of our favorites. You are a 10 minute drive to the centre of town & all the best beaches the Cape can offer. Although we spend alot of time in the lake as it was hard to resist being right on our door step & our kids aged 10, 8 & 4 we in the lake most of the day. One of the most magical things about the Nook was the firefly show every evening in the woods behind the house. We have stayed at the nook twice & both times it was perfect upon arrival, spotlessly clean, equipped with everything needed, huge big umbrella over bench seating on the front porch, hammocks, beach chairs, comfortable beds, air conditioning, new & comfortable furnishings. The owner Wendy was very easy to deal with & available when ever we needed her, which wasn't often as the house was so easy & well organized. We would absolutely recommend the Nook to friends & family & have already booked it for next year again. I have no complaints & am so happy we found this little slice of paradise on the Cape.

Wonderful 3 bedroom cottage.
We typically rent in Falmouth area on Cape Cod, but we wanted something closer to our niece's wedding in Dennis. This cottage provided our family of 5 plenty of room to enjoy this vacation/wedding weekend. The kitchen, dinning and family room were roomy and pleasant to cook, eat and lounge in. The rental was very clean and in good repair. We enjoyed having a washer and dryer at our disposal. The lake was beautiful and the neighborhood was very quiet.

Tranquil, beautiful, comfortable and well equipped
This cottage had everything you could ask for. This three bedroom cottage was a perfect place for my three teenagers and myself to stay. The house was surrounded by trees but had the beautiful lake just a short walk. The lake was wonderful to swim in and watch sunsets. The area was great with stores nearby and many wonderful towns to visit that were a short drive. i.e., Woods Hole, downtown Hyannis, Orleans. The cottage was very comfortable and the owners didn't leave anything out. It was easy making breakfast in the kitchen with a few of us in there, the bathroom was roomy and the washer and dryer were a dream to have which meant less packing. The owners were very good communicators as well. We will be back next year if they will have us.
