The house is roomy, there is a large porch that the kids used as a playroom. 3 bedrooms with enough beds for all 12 and more if needed. The house has a beautiful view overlooking the lake.
The lake is beautiful, clean, great fishing and boating. Nice fire pit for gathering and roasting marshmallows. The outdoor shower is amazing, would have liked more bathrooms, only 2. William the host is a great communicator is very informative about the area and things to keep every having fun.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Huge family room with tons of seating and places to converse. Awesome game room that was used every evening and on the one day it rained. Plenty of kayaks and canoes to use for fishing and paddling around. The water was clean and clear and the perfect temperature. We had a great time in Monson and really enjoyed our stay at this location. Bill was a fantastic host and was available at any point to answer any questions. Thank you for allowing us to experience your cabin and all it has to offer. Highly recommend!

This was the perfect home for our family vacation. Lots of room for a family of 11 .... all adults. Screened in porch with pool table was just what we needed to relax. There was so much space, we were never on top of each other. Huge dinning room table allowed us to eat together and spend quality time. The property owner was exceptional in communicating with us and offering a ton of support. The most support we have ever had while traveling. If you are looking for an interesting home, this is it. Lots of personality and warmth. Fishing in this area was awesome. My niece caught a substantial trout! Lots of kayaks and all the items needed were provided. My only recommendation is if you chose this property, an SUV is a good idea to have. The road in is a bit bumpy but absolutely worth the trip!!! Thanks for sharing your home with our family!!! We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation in Maine.

We love the cabin! The scenery from the deck!! The openness inside the cabin! We just had an overall wonderful time! The children were able to hike! We seen Moose! Mr Everett was very accommodating and very easy to communicate with, very responsive!! Just an all in all wonderful vacation home!!

If you want to get rid of some stress this is the perfect place. Quiet & beautiful. You could spend a few hours just looking at all the things Bill has put into the cabin & porch. You see something new every time. Or old like the pay phone on the porch. Bill is a great owner! You can send him a message anytime & he will get back to you on the same day. Definetly check out the Monson general store. They have great sandwiches for breakfast & lunch. Everything is so fresh & great desserts too!

We had a large family gather here, aged 6 months to 75 years old. The swimming and kayaks were a huge hit, and teens and adults all spent a significant amount of time out on and in the water. The 7 stories of stairs made our calves so strong! There were incredible nearby hikes and waterfalls that also filled our time here. The pool table and other porch games were well utilized. We found the place comfortable, spacious and eclectic, and the owner was quick to respond to any problem or inquiry. I would not hesitate to return. The only drawback, really, was cleanup in the kitchen, with many guests and no dishwasher, the process was lengthy and we arrived to find not even a sponge to wash our dishes. All in all, a fantastic space removed from the hustle and bustle, and plenty of space to spread out, play games, and stay active outdoors. Everyone loved it!

We had a great week at this log cabin...very private and quiet but only about 10 minutes from little downtown of Monson; 20 minutes from Greenville. Close to AT and Borestone mountain for hiking. No public boat launch on pond but the guys took our small boat over the lake hebron and also fished in monson pond with kayaks and canoe provided by Bill. Not much biting but grandpa caught a 17" trout in the pond on our 1st day. The swimming was the best....beautiful water and scenery with barely a soul on the pond. Kids enjoyed jumping off the dock.
There was plenty of room for the 11 of us to spread out in main living area and screened porch. The sleeping area over porch was not really usable...more due to bugs at night than the heat which wasn't bad when we were there. 17 year old grandson slept on one of the porch couches and 23 year old granddaughter slept on living room couch...everyone else in the 3 remaining rooms. The loft area did have enough beds to have slept more than 4 that were up there. We enjoyed wathcing the hummingbirds at the feeders right outside the windows. We adapted surprisingly quickly to the several flights of stairs to the water....great workout coming back up....would not be a good fit for anyone with mobility issues but our granddaughter ran up and down them as a workout.
Bill was by far the best host we've had in all the years of renting....super responsive to any concerns.

This is my family's second time staying here on Monson Pond. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this special place. Similar to last year, we spent most of our time on the water, but did enjoy some local hiking. It rained most of the week we were there, but we didn't let it hinder our family time and enjoyment of the peaceful environment on the pond and beautiful surrounding area. Hope to return again next year!

If you love birds, every morning they come right up to the back porch to grab food and do not mind that you're just two feet away. Southern flying squirrels at dawn, then red squirrels, chipmunks, red and white breastednuthatches, black capped chickadees, blue jays, hairy woodpeckers, American goldfinches, and droves of hummingbirds all come to visit the deck. You can watch the Bald Eagles flying across the shoreline and see the loons and merganser ducks swimming around diving under water right from the back deck.
The stairs to the water are easy to go down and seem a bit daunting to get back up, but I'm not very healthy and was more than capable of climbing them daily cause it's worth the trip to the water. Water Shoes are a good idea for the adults getting in and out of water there are lots of flat but present rocks on shoreline. You can also jump into 6 foot deep water off the end of the dock. Very clean refreshing water body and enough kayaks and canoes for everyone big and tiny alike.
Never a dull moment, there are lots of games and activities on site you'll never get board. Also a great fire pit out front for night time. If you turn off all the outside lights and look up, the stars are amazing beautiful and bountiful. I was awe struck. I left truly and deeply relaxed, a feeling I've definitely been needing.

This property is spacious and very peaceful and secluded. Beautiful views of Monson pond which was great for swimming, kayaking etc. The owner, Bill, was very welcoming and always available for any questions. Monson has many nearby hiking trails, antique shop and one of the best restaurants I have experienced anywhere (the Quarry). Would highly recommend!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at this amazing cabin. Such a great place to relax and unwind. And the views are breathtaking! The cabin was even bigger than expected, lots of room for all. The large screened in porch was a favorite hanging out spot in the evening. Bill was a wonderful host, very responsive on my questions , helpful and kind.

Exactly what I was looking for
I was looking for something remote yet on the water. This delivered exactly what I was looking for. Both Monsun and Moosehead are wonderful places to visit. Would love to come back again!
The house itself was as described. Lots of details to things you may not realize are important for your stay. Everything was provided and available and then some. Highly recommend!

Vacation week at Ledges Lodge
We had a wonderful week staying at Ledges Lodge. The cabin was so comfortable, the lake was beautiful and all that we could have wanted. "Wow" was the first word we all said when we walked through the door! The cabin is so uniquely decorated and felt so homey and friendly. Bill was always easy to reach and was so helpful making our stay at his cabin a great experience. The cabin was stocked with everything we could need and even the boats and oars were there for us to use. It was just a truly wonderful spot to vacation. We will certainly try to return to this amazing cabin in the woods! Thank you Bill for opening your home for us to enjoy.

Wonderful Property
We all enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The property was very secluded and private. The lodge was very unique and had plenty of room for our party of six. Monson is a quaint little town, the General Store was pretty well stocked. Greenville is about a 25 minute car ride North from the property. The region is beautiful, with plenty of things to do. The property owner is very helpful and responds quickly to inquiries. We would go back again!

Idyllic lake camp
My family thoroughly enjoyed our week at this camp. The various boats lead to much fun, as did the camp's proximity to hiking trails and Moosehead Lake. Also, the internet worked really well.

Magical Monson Pond memories
My family (2 adults, 3 children) thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! We spent most of our time down on the water. During the few times it rained, simply relaxing at the house (reading, writing) or enjoying the magnificent view out the window over the water was just as lovely. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and aside from getting groceries and some trips to enjoy the hiking in the region – we had little need or desire to leave! Communication with Bill and the caretaker was wonderful, and they were most attentive to trying to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. We hope to be able to return and make many more memories there. Thank you to Bill for sharing his magical corner on Monson Pond.

Exactly as advertised (maybe even better)
I have always wanted to stay on a lake, so I found this cabin, and I was NOT disappointed. My family all came with me, and we so enjoyed Maine in the spring time. We climbed mountains, saw waterfalls, saw moose, caught fish, and listened to loons on the lake for hours and hours. This cabin is so awesome I can’t wait to go visit again. Very clean and super interesting with all the Knick-knacks inside. Great for kids with lots to do. Also, If you are there go to the restaurant The Quarry. Incredible food in a lovely town. Delightful, you will not be disappointed.

Don't let the pictures fool you!
The first thing I said when I walked through the door was "I LOVE it!". I wasn't sure what to expect but was so pleasantly surprised. If felt as if I was I was transported back in time to a lake home once owned by my family. It felt like home...not a rental. The privacy was amazing and appreciated. Was so relaxing to walk the grounds with my dogs who absolutely loved everything about the property (and were very disappointed when we had to leave). Mr. Everett was incredibly accommodating and a joy to rent from. We have rented many homes in the area over the past 10 years, but think we have finally found our "keeper". Having kayaks and canoes at our disposal was a huge bonus. If you want room to roam and spread out, this is the place. We look forward to going back next year or even sooner! My husband is already planning!

Incredible Spot
This was one of our most rewarding trips as a family. The property is located in a private area not too far from Monson and the beginning of the 100 Mile Wilderness on the AT. This place is a dream for kids 10 years and older. Everyday, we swam in the lake, we kayaked in the lake, and we fished in the lake. We also took many trips to Wilson Falls to jump off the rocks into the River pools. For excursions, we played tennis in Guilford, Abbot, and Dover. We also made trips into the Moosehead Lake area for lunch, ice cream, and moose safari(which was successful)!! We had dinner at the Lakehouse Pub which was awesome. The cabin is fantastic and you can never really get bored there. We played pool, played foosball, played air hockey, read books, playe CDs, watched VHS movies, played board games, watched hummingbirds, cooked out, made campfires, and exercised on the long stairs going down to the lake. The kids also enjoyed riding their mountain bikes up and down the driveway. Internet speed was not blazing fast but we didn’t expect it to be either. We found food markets in Greenville to be well stocked with everything we needed.
Thank you Bill for being very accommodating ona wonderful stay.

Another Outstanding week at The Lodge on Monson Pond
This is our second year staying at the lodge and it was another fantastic week.
The group consisted of 10 including my parents, my brothers family and my own. Everyone had a great time relaxing, swiming, floating, fishing, cooking, eating, watching the 10-20 humming birds at feeders at cocktail hour, listening to the loons, hiking and golfing. The owner is extremely attentive to your needs, helpful and responsive to the point of incorporating some of our recommendations for improvements from the year before.

Heaven on Earth
This place is absolutely amazing. It has everything you need - comfortable beds, tons of comfortable seating, so much to look at! Good books to read, games to play, and even WiFi now. It was our third stay in 10 years and it gets better every time! I know it's pricey, but it's worth every penny; it just doesn't get any better than this. You fall asleep listening to loons on Monson Pond - it is heaven on earth. Thank you Bill, for checking on us - I have no suggestions for improvement this visit; you've nailed it.

Peaceful family get-away!
Three generations of our family ages 3 to 60 and our chocolate lab spent a week at Bill's beautiful property on Monson Pond in July. The cabin was absolutely perfect for our group. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. There was room for everyone to spread out but also allowed for us all to sit together for meals and such. If you are a dog owner, there was no concern about being off lead and bothering neighbors etc. You are completely secluded far away from anyone around you!
Our group enjoyed fishing, kayaking and swimming in Monson pond. The water was so clean, clear and refreshing. The steps to access the pond definitely helped keep our group in shape throughout the week!
The sounds of the loons at night were amazing and the view of the stars also incredible from the back porch.
We had a couple cold rainy days that week but we still had a great time. The game room on the side porch included fuseball, air hockey and pool which was enjoyed by all. The cabin also had lots of games, books , movies and and so many whimsical things to look at. Every day we would all point out something new that we had not noticed the day before!
Venturing out of the cabin, we enjoyed the quaint town of Monson. The town hall even opened up their indoor gym for our entire crew to use one morning for a game of basketball!
Moosehead lake was about 20 minutes up the road and we enjoyed a day exploring that area as well. Lots of places to shop, places to eat, moose and ATV tours. Also a great little supermarket/trading post.
If you are looking for a peaceful get-away to unplug, enjoy nature and the people you are with you will love this property! The owner was also was very attentive from the day we booked the property to the day we checked out.
Our group would love to return to Monson and Bill's cabin again some day!

Perfect lake getaway
Our stay at the Ledges Lodge was everything we hoped it would be and more. From the minute we walked into the home we were delighted by the expansive space, the fun decor, and the cleanliness. It was perfect for our large group. The game room and the lake/dock were some of the high points of our week. Bill was an incredibly responsive and kind host. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone!

Do yourself a favor and book right now. Bill was so accommodating to any request and provided plenty of advice on area interest. The house had everything we needed to relax and do absolutely nothing one day, and then get up and hike our way around the area the next. Just perfect.

Terrific cabin to get away from it all!
Our group of 4 adults and 4 kids had a fabulous week at this cabin. Quiet, great swimming, fishing and kayaking, and close to lots of great hikes. Plenty of space, and a great porch for the kids to play. We'll definitely be back!!

Family Vacation
The property is just as described in the listing. Ten of us stayed at the cabin for a week and had a fantastic time. The group was made up of my family of 5, my parents and my brothers family, a Golden Retriever and a Lab and every one had a great time. Our lab was a little disappointed when we got home and there was no lake to swim in 24/7. We spent most of our time at the cabin floating in the lake, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. My parents are in their mid seventies and made it up and down the stairs several times a day. They do maintain active lives and my mother did say that if she had not had her knees replaced a couple years ago she would have not been able to make it up and down the stairs. We did make a few excursions into Greenville (the Southern end of Moosehead Lake) including a cruise on the Katahdin which I would recommend. Bill the owner was fantastic with his communication from the time we made the reservation through our stay.

A peaceful bit of paradise!
We stayed here in July, and I can't recommend it enough. It was truly a piece of heaven. The "pond" is what I would call a lake (340 acres), and is only accessed by the owners of the properties surrounding the lake (no more than 20 homes, no public boat access), so it was very private. We only saw a couple of people on the lake the whole week. We felt like the whole lake was ours. The lake is the best we've ever been too -- warmer than expected, super crystal clear and clean, surrounded by gorgeous hills. Bill's spot is great because there is good depth off the dock for swimming -- at least 15 feet or so deep. He had so many great watercraft -- we had at least 3 kayaks, a rowboat, and a canoe. I can't say enough about the lake experience, it was truly unforgettable.
The house was great too. Lots of beds for the kids (we were a group of 15), with several extra mattresses to move around on the loft floors as needed. The home has tons of personality. It's filled with antique furniture and knick knacks. If you have grabby toddlers this might not be the place for you (also because of the stairs to the lake). But our family loved it. My kids said as soon they walked in "this feels like Cracker Barrel!". So many interesting things to look at, tons of comfy furniture around, and it just felt "homey". We especially enjoyed playing old records and cassette tapes, and the kids liked watching old Disney VHS tapes. It's a unique home with lots of character.
There were a couple of things to note that are good to know. Wifi was really bad, which was a plus for me to keep my kids off their phones :), but worth knowing if you plan to do anything other than get texts (Bill did say he's planning to upgrade it). Walmart was about 45 minutes away, and there is another local grocery store 15-20 minutes away. There isn't any central AC in the house, but there were good window units and plenty of ceiling and box fans -- mostly everywhere was cool enough even during a super hot week (the loft over the screened-in porch did get quite warm though). We brought life jackets for the kids to make sure we had the right sizes for them. The stairs to the lake were long, but shouldn't be a deterrent unless you have someone with mobility problems or maybe toddlers. All of these things are super minor, just good to know for planning.
Bill was a dream to work with. He loves his home and takes care of his renters. His place is heaven. Thank you for sharing it with us Bill!

Rustic Luxury in a Great, Private Location
Our family had the privilege of an extended, five-week stay at this property. It’s truly one-of-a-kind and deserving of five stars, as is the owner/manager, Bill. The cabin sits in a very rural, rustic and private setting, but you won’t want for much. The pond, Monson Pond, is wonderful. With no public boat launch and a dozen or so camps, it’s peaceful and private from morning to night, even on its ‘busy’ days. We had a blast fishing (trout/salmon), paddling, swimming and sitting on the dock. The property has a nice slice of waterfront with a gradual entry. For those who like to swim, you can find deep water off the dock. Going from the cabin to the water (or vice versa) requires navigating a serious set of steps, but the reward is worth it. The view of the lake and mountains from the cabin deck can’t be beat, especially around sunset. The cabin itself is huge, as is the adjoining screened porch. There is a lot of comfortable furniture throughout. It's perfect for sipping coffee, lounging on rainy days or relaxing at night. The beds are also really comfortable, which was a nice surprise. The kitchen has the basics, You’ll need to do the dishes. There’s a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking, and a firepit. Don’t forget to look up at the stars. So many stars. The property is really nice, very large and wooded. We saw turkeys, beavers, turtles, deer and a variety of birds. Hummingbirds are frequent visitors. You could spend all your days on site, but when you want to leave, Monson, Moosehead Lake and a number of excellent hikes are just a short drive away. For those who may have to check-in with work or family from time-to-time, Verizon service works surprisingly well. In addition, the satellite WiFi works great. If you need a lot of WiFi data, talk to Bill. In fact, if you need anything, Bill will go out of his way to help. Like his cabin, he’s great.

A wonderful vacation!
We had the best time at this wonderful home! The minute we walked in, I knew it was going to be a great family vacation! The house is big and open, plenty of space for all! Lots of comfy beds too! We spent most of our days on the docks, kayaking, swimming, tubing. We went into the town.of Monson twice and it's the cutest town! Everyone was so friendly and we ate at two restaurants and the food was delicious! This town is the last stop for people who do the Appalachian Trail hike from Georgia to Maine and you can meet some really great people with interesting stories!
Bill, the owner of the house, was very helpful with my questions and could always be reached.
Thanks Bill and Maine for a relaxing and fun vacation!

Everything we hoped for and more!
We stayed at Bill and Marie’s beautiful cabin for a week and had a wonderful time! The property is tucked away so it feels completely peaceful and private but it is also close to the shops and restaurants of downtown Monson (which is charming) and Greenville which is fun to explore. The views of the water and woods are lovely and the cabin itself was huge, clean and had so much fun character. We had everything we needed for the week plus lots of fun extras - the kids loved the air hockey and foozeball tables, games, puzzles, fire pit and boats! Bill was a very gracious and helpful host and checked in with us before during and after our stay to make sure all was well. We would absolutely come back and can highly recommend to anyone!
