Sally May, Frank and their puppy Macaroon are wonderful hosts! They really make your stay top notch. The recommendations on restaurants was fantastic, the studio was extremely clean and well stocked. They really anticipated their guests needs. Location is the perfect spot, right near Rockport and a short drive into Gloucester. Opening the curtains to a beautiful sunrise really makes the stay very serene!

It exceeded the expectations of the photos and description. Made for a perfect stay for a much needed getaway. We loved meeting the hosts and their puppy Macaron. The studio was so well appointed and comfy. Even on a rainy day it made for a cozy place to nap and relax. We recommend highly!

It was so easy to arrange this stay. Sally and Frank made it so accommodating; the place has everything you need. I loved the little touches like a vase of fresh flowers. Down the street are beautiful beaches, fresh seafood restaurants, and the best doughnuts ever (Brothers Brew). Also down the street is the Shalin Liu Performance Center - the stage is against a picture window to the water! I will be back. Sally and Frank made this adventure easy with their info and help.

Motif #2 was wonderful! The space is good for a couple, and we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Sally May and Frank were perfect hosts. The studio had everything we needed and more for our three night stay. Lots of sunshine during the day and quiet at night. The mattress was the best we’ve ever slept on!

The cottage we rented was clean, had every item we needed, and the owners were truly looking out for our every need. Sally even baked a cake including a candle for my birthday! Great cottage, amazing hospitality would definitely stay again! Thank you !!

We stayed here to celebrate an extended Valentine's weekend and my boyfriend's birthday..could not be happier! Cottage was quaint,well appointed, phenomenal view, private deck and warm and cozy atmosphere with an artist's flair - gorgeous! Loved the painters pallet art on the wall, by the way. Fresh flowers on the table and a guest journal made it very inviting. Would definitely stay here again. 10/10

Motif #2 was more than we expected! Walking distance to watch the sun rise over the ocean and cozy in the rain. Rockport, even in January, is a gem. We were welcomed with cookies and were amazed at how well thought out the studio was. It does not lack for anything. A glorious 1st of January with warm Temps and sun also helped!

What a beautiful property and generous host! I was actually brought to tears at how the sunrise pours into the living space of this home. Absolutely stunning view. We enjoyed every moment.

This property is so adorable and in a perfect location. My best friend and I got together for a girls weekend and Motif #2 was such a great spot. It’s spacious enough to sit around and catch up over coffee and close enough to go into town and shop or grab dinner. I couldn’t have asked for better hosts or location. Thanks for having us!

Our stay at motif #2 was fabulous! It was my husband and mine’s wedding weekend and I couldn’t have imagined a better place to relax in amidst all the hustle and bustle.

This was our first time using VBRO for a vacation rental. Everything was just as described. Our hosts were marvelous. So helpful and attentive. Along with the absolutely perfect weather they made our stay fabulous!

Motif #2 is a beautiful little studio right across from the sea and conveniently located just down the street from anything you would want to do in Rockport, butbalso close enough to visit many other places including Salem. Sally and Frank are the best hosts ever and have thought of your every need, right down to fresh flowers and homemade baked goods. By far one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had. At the end of the day you really do feel like you are just coming home...5 stars, two thumbs up!!! We cannot wait to come back!!!

This place was as advertised! As we were on Cape May for the goings on in Salem, we didn’t get to spend nearly as much time there as we wanted, but Motif #2 was clean, cozy and adorable with its artsy, nautical theme and friendly owners. We will definitely be back!

Amazing stay! This cottage is a little piece of paradise. Beautifully maintained and decorated. Fully stocked with anything you could need. Great location. Easy access to train station which we took to Salem. To top everything off, we had the most amazing host, Sally. She spoiled us with goodies and helpful hints about the area. I hope that this will be our home away from home when we are in the area. Couldn’t ask for more!!

Sally May and Frank are the quintessential hosts. Almost from the moment I submitted our request I felt an immediate connection to them. Sally May and I texted quite frequently, making me feel right at home. The Motif 2, as the cottage is called, went above and beyond our expectations. It is beautifully decorated, spotless and oh so cozy. Sally May and Frank have literally thought of every possible detail. AND Sally May made the most delicious carrot cake for my husband's birthday! I can't say enough about this beautiful property and Sally May & Frank. It was like coming home. We will definitely be back and stay longer!

My husbabd and I really enjoyed our stay. The location is PERFECT, Gave us an opportunity to visit Salem ,Plymouth and Boston Massachusetts, along with Kennebunkport and York Maine. Sally and Frank were very Accommodating to any and all needs, every base was covered. From extra pillows , towels , toiletries, it was all there for us! On our last night she made us her award winning Carrot Cake ! It was HEAVEN! Make sure to visit Bearskin Neck , and the Nubble lighthouse during your visit ! You wont regret it !

My stay was amazing. Sally May and Francis were the epitome of graciousness and kindness. I felt welcomed from the moment I contacted them through to checking out. Sally May checked in with me throughout my stay, giving recommendations from restaurants to where I could go for a nice walk. Sally May and Francis both recognized my birthday while I was there including going an extra step and making me a key lime pie that was out of this world 😋. They absolutely exceeded any expectations and provided the most welcoming and comfortable stay. I will be going back as often as time permits and wholeheartedly give their home away from home a five star review, only because ten stars aren’t available! Thank you both!

The pictures do not do this property justice; it was better than we expected! The studio was welcoming, calming, creative and colorful, and the personal touches such as the fresh flowers, inspiration stones, and decor won us over! They truly thought of everything when designing the studio. And the view? Priceless! The hosts were down to earth, sweet, and made us feel like we were home, like family. My husband and I have made new friends here that we will cherish. The spot is perfectly situated for quiet relaxation and yet close to all the activities; best of all worlds. Truly a treasure!

This house is perfect for 2 people. The host was so nice and had homemade baked goods waiting for us! It’s not too far from town to walk and the water view is perfect! We will definitely be back!!

Staying at this lovely cottage was a pure pleasure. The care and hospitality of the owners was reflected in the in quiet, thoughtful attention details everywhere, inside and out. Very lucky is anyone who manages to book some time at this little Rockport treasure!

As soon as we walked in the door we were blown away with the cottage. We have never stayed in a hotel, B & B, or rental of any kind that was so clean and smelled so clean. Our three nights were perfect in every way. When we left, we still couldn’t find a thing that was missing or needed correcting. Sally and Frank had completely thought out the decorating and furnishing of the former artist’s cottage. We enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the water. Our hosts were living very close by, so they were always available either in person or by nearly instantaneous texting if we had any questions. The location is convenient to “down town” Rockport, Gloucester and Salem. Rockport and Salem seemed very touristy. Gloucester not so much. Sally and Frank recommended a number of nice sit down restaurants in Gloucester. We tried the “Seaport Grill” and the “Causeway”. Both were outstanding. The portions were mammoth and the pricing did not drive away the locals. (Note: The Causeway is BYOB and the locals bring their tiny coolers with wine and beer. As we used to say in Montana, if you scrape your boots, you’re overdressed for the Causeway. It’s a local hangout and totally worth it.) This place is a gem!

This place is nothing short of perfect, they thought of everything. While small, the smart design makes it feel larger and so inviting. This is the best place I have stayed in awhile and plan to go back. It is a place to get your head together, a place of mindfulness and beauty.

Sally and Frank thought of every little detail to make my stay perfect. The studio was immaculately clean and had everything I needed. I spent many hours enjoying the view from their porch and it was only a 20 minute walk to the center. I highly recommend and will definitely be back.

My stay at this lovely cottage could not have been more wonderful! The cozy cottage greeted me with welcoming lights, warm and comfortable surroundings, every amenity and attention to detail, great and small! And chocolate cake! The cottage is spacious, fabulous shower, luxury towels, ever so comfortable bed and bedding! I didn't want to ever leave! The walk into Rockport just a short distance with magnificent views. Our stay in the artist’s studio was amazing.Even though the weather was wintry (as expected for February) the cottage was delightfully warm. We explored the Cape Ann area and went for long walks. We took Sally May’s advice on places to eat and were very happy with all the choices. The special cake she made us was an extra- above and beyond! What a delightful place to stay, I would highly recommend it.

We had such a great time in Rockport. The cottage/studio was walking distance to town and a quick drive to Gloucester. The house was incredibly well stocked with everything we could need to feel at home, from extra pillows, towels and blankets to condiments, spices and coffee. The space was filled with natural light during the day and had a great front deck with a view of the water. The hosts were very responsive and available if we had any questions. We would definitely be happy to have the chance to stay here again and explore more around the area. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us!

This is a beautifully renovated and maintained property outside of the main center of Rockport. The hosts have thoughtfully provided a comfortable and well appointed home away from home. We lacked for nothing during our stay and hope to visit there again.

The owners thought if everything. It was a perfect long weekend. The place is spotless, and adorable. From the books to the puzzles and the Scrabble game, it had everything.
