Loved our week again at this great beach house. We especially love the open floor plan for a family gathering space!

The house was everything as advertised with lots of convenient extras like beach towels and chairs. And the view was amazing. It was a very easy walk to the beach and being at the far west end gave a lot of beach even at high tide. We had a few little issues that the owner very quickly responded to. We look forward to another week there soon.

Very enjoyable
Everything was as advertised. Plenty of room, excellent location (away from the busier part of the island) and very comfortable. My only suggestion/constructive criticism is that the first floor bedroom was warmer than the rest of the home (especially at night when the door was closed for privacy). The many notes on different aspects of the property was much appreciated. As a side note (unrelated to the rental) i would recommend bug spray or scent avoidance to reduce no-see-um bites. I would definitely stay here and with this host again!

Great location and sweet home away from home
The location could not be better. Bc we were in a gated community, the strip of beaches were fairly empty in front of and around the house. It helped we were just out of peak season too. The house was nicely laid out. There was plenty of room for 10. Amenities were great, from beach accessories to needs in the kitchen. The king mattress was slightly lumpy but the other beds were quite comfortable. My young kiddo cried when we left bc she wanted to go back to her beach house… she had too much fun and didn’t want to leave quite yet.

Whitecaps West
Jan, the property owner, was great and so very easy to work with. We needed to shift our arrival and departure dates by one day and Jan worked with us with no problem. The property was as advertised. Perfect size for eight adults and three kids under the years old. Location was fantastic. We will seriously consider renting here again. Give Whitecaps West a serious look!

Relaxing Getaway
We had a relaxing time at White Caps at Holden Beach. The property being beachfront was ideal in these current times, and allowed for great days even when it was rainy. Upon arrival there were a couple issues with a smell of the linens and dirty paper towels being left on an ottoman, which I made the rental company aware of. The living room and kitchen area we nice and big, allowing for comfortable gatherings. I did feel like the sofas were quite worn and are ready to replaced. The master room is fairly bare bones and could also be improved. Of note, Holden doesn’t allow portable grills on the deck therefore the grill is a park style grill on the grass just below the deck. All in all it was a great place to get away and relax and we enjoyed our time. The owner is very personable and was very communicative during the booking process.

Great weekend stay!
Property is on a wonderful stretch of Holden Beach, great for families and the house was as advertised! Nice property with great views, loved our evenings on the back porch. Property is a little older but maintained well. House was pretty clean on arrival but we did find some things that could have used a little more attention. Overall, a great stay!!

Beautiful and Quiet
This is a very nice home and we loved the area I like that this rental includes linens and towels and that they are a good quality. The kitchen is stocked with just about everything you will need. There was a small issue with the dryer, called the rental company and the handyman was there is about a hour and fixed the problem. We loved the rockers on the porch but wished we were closer to the beach. We knew that it was a bit further than we are used to from the pictures but were surprised it made such a difference to us.
This is a very nice home. You will be very pleased!

Family Reunion
We had a great time at Whitecaps West. There was plenty of room for six adults and three children. Easy access to the beach and the duplex came with everything you need for a week's stay. If you don't like a crowded beach this is the place to go. Kids had a great time and lots of sea shells to collect. Outdoor shower and hose were great for washing off the sand. Love the view from the sea side deck. Would do this again with a large group. Owner Jan White was great to work with and Coastal Vacations Resorts were very responsive when we had a need.

Living As It Should Be
It was our first family reunion vacation which couldn't have been better staying at Whitecaps West.
The home included all amenities anyone needs. The kitchen was stocked with toaster, microwave,
blender, coffee maker, etc. Storage shed included various beach chairs, etc.
If the family desires to return to Holden Beach in the future, Whitecaps West would be our choice.

What a glorious place to gather with friends or relatives!! Located on the beach, this bright, sunny, open home has room for a crowd---or a few. The downstairs living area features sofas facing wall-to-wall windows overlooking the ocean, a well-equipped kitchen with generous eating spaces, and even a little library area. I visited with several friends, and many times we gathered around the kitchen island for gab-fests. All bedrooms have comfortable beds, and are spacious and nicely decorated. This home is well-maintained, fresh, and feels new.
The shell-strewn beach is wide and private--ideal for long walks, a great place to "get away from it all." Yet the little town of Holden Beach is only minutes away for those who want to explore antique shops or boutiques, run to the grocery store or dine at some neat little restaurants.
I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Happy Beach Lover
The sound of the ocean lulled me to sleep at night. The beach is beautiful and you can see for miles in each direction. Lovely vegetation and birds along the beach. Wonderful porch to read and enjoy the ocean view. House was spotless and very attractive furnishings. I can't think of anything that wasn't there for comfort and conveniences. Can't wait to return.

Private Getaway and Friends' Reunion All at One Time!
What a perfectly awesome place to get together with a group of friends from near and far who are all on their own sleep schedules! The spacious, open, bright social areas of this fun beach house invite the whole group to gather for meals and visiting, and yet those who aren't night owls can retreat into the quiet and solitude of their own rooms even when the night owls are hooting!

Spotless, no disappointments
The house is fresh, sunny, pretty, with large rooms. High-ceiling living room open to dining and kitchen. The bedrooms are all equally nice--big, bright, appealing decor, good closets. Three bedrooms have ensuite baths; two share. Very clean, it feels new. Everything is comfortable. The view of the ocean is beautiful.

A wonderful place to enjoy family and friends yet still have room for quiet moments.
My extended family just spent a wonderful time at this inviting beach home. I enjoyed quiet moments with my cup of coffee on the porch off the master bedroom. After everyone awoke we loved to walk the beach looking for shells and most often we were the only people on the beach. Since some of our party were golfer, they headed off to one of the nearby golf courses, while the rest of us enjoyed the beach. When not on the beach, we found plenty to do with the board games and sports and movies on TV. At night we watched the sunset with a glass of wine and then enjoyed cooking the local seafood as a family. A highlight of the day was to go out on the beach at night to look at the stars. This is a great place for families to reunite or groups of friends to enjoy. We will definitely come back!

Relaxing Getaway Peaceful Paradise!
This oceanfront beach house is a true Heaven's sent!
In the best location on Holden Beach the Private End!
The layout and amenities were everything anybody could want especially the wireless internet.
This property was clean and well maintained.
The owner had excellent communication and was a real doll.
I would recommend this property to everybody that I know.
I went to Betty's and the Provision for lunch and dinner they both are local favorites and I agree.
I enjoyed the rocking chairs and all the decks on the house.

this was the perfect vacation! whitecaps west is a spacious, well equipped, nicely decorated duplex that provides the perfect setting for a great vacation. the long boardwalk mimics the dunes (and a new, flat public access boardwalk is right beside it if needed ... nice for strollers!) and leads to what feels like miles and miles of your own private beach! the kids and adults all enjoyed this beautiful home and all that holden beach has to offer - we'll definitely return!

Holden Beach: A great find
Coming from Manhattan, I experienced such severe cultural shock on arrival in what had been described by the official Holden Beach web site as "paradise" that I was almost ready to go home. Whitecaps West is toward the end of a 10-minute drive along straight road separated from the mainland by the Intercoastal Waterway. The developers didn't believe in big sideyards, and have steadfastly kept out most business -- so the initial impression is of a terrifyingly barren residential suburb unrelieved even by minimalls.
The next morning, I took a walk on the deserted beach and drove over the causeway to The Cappuccino Lady, which I had spotted on the way out. The owner, Nancy, sat me down on a porch swing with a great cappuccino and introduced me to locals as they came in. They and Nancy regaled me with stories and tips on where to eat and what to see..
Turns out that Holden Beach's restaurants are hidden, but wonderful. I took meals at Pete's and the Provision Company, on opposite banks of the Intercoastal, and enjoyed some of the best fish I've ever encountered. Holden Beach was one of the centers of the shrimping industry for about 100 years, and a few boats are still operating. Many of the boats were built by a local family, without blueprints. I visited the local bookshop, The Book Worm, and found some great histories of the area.
When we got an itch to go somewhere, we chartered a boat for a little ride up Lockwood's Folly River, One day we drove to Southport to see art galleries, then headed over to Wilmington, a beautifully preserved colonial port town that has been restored and reborn as a hip place on the up and up.
I had a great time in my 10 days -- the air smelled wonderfully fresh, the sea was warm and quiet enough for my 2-year-old. Everybody had a bathroom, and we did laundry whenever we wanted -- a real luxury for us, as we're used to being at the mercy of hotels on our vacation. Compared to a visit to a Florida resort, it was pretty cheap.
Coastal Vacations, the manager of the property, keeps the place spotlessly clean. The house was in great shape. The beach was devoid of trash, and pre-Memorial Day, it was deserted. I had a moment of panic when a family showed up in the other half of the duplex, but we made friends, and they were quiet.
I hear rentals were down significantly in May -- but for the those of us who like quiet, that makes Holden Beach an even nicer choice.
