Property was mostly like the photos - missing the telescope though. We'll bring binoculars next time. The beds were a little lumpy and squeaky but overall a very nice property. Views were amazing! We will definitely will stay again!

Great location, clean property, wonderful experience! My family has stayed in this house multiple times and we'll continue to do so as we can. The location is ideal - very close to shopping/dining, but just far away enough to not feel too busy/overcrowded. Loved staying here!

The beachfront location was great.
Beds: The Master bedroom's bed was very, uncomfortable. 2 "divets" or sags on both sides. Very loud, rusty-sounding squeaking every time you moved.
The "pullout sofa" was so uncomfortable that our friend just slept on it as a sofa.
The back room (black) bed was super lumpy & squishy as well.
The 4th bedroom, next to the Sofa Rm had the best bed. No lamps or tables.
Overall, not the cleanest place we have ever rented. The shower floors were also noisy.
We made do. It was at the beach after all!
WEDNESDAY
9PM: Wednesday night before leaving Saturday, the washing machine stopped working.
THURSDAY
9AM: We called Lewis Realty (LR) sent someone right over around 10:30/11:00am. It was determined we needed a new washing machine.
Here is where it starts to get disappointing.
I called at 4:02pm to get an update. Was told that they were waiting to hear from the owner.
4:08pm - LR called & said the owner is looking into getting a new washing machine. I advised that we have a 2-year-old with us and we need to get laundry done so we can pack to leave.
FRIDAY
10:22am - Called LW for an update. Was told they are working on it. I repeated our concern about getting laundry done. It was our last day at the beach - and now we are in limbo! It didn't seem we were getting anywhere quickly, my husband & I drove to LR's office.
Started with Pat. We asked for someone with more authority, Jordan came out. She seemed to try the hardest. Although there was never anything like, "Hey I'm so sorry this is happening. It must be awful for your vacation to end like this." It was only, "I'm waiting on the owner." No smile. No compassion.
I asked for 15-minute updates - since hours had passed by and we never received a call initiated by LR.
Was told they owner is getting one, waiting to find out when to be delivered that day. "Hopefully this afternoon."
2:34pm - Text we received from Jordan: "Unfortunately, the washer will not be delivered until tomorrow. The owner of Lewis Realty would like to give you $100 for the inconvenience and for your trip to the laundry mat if you choose. Please let me know if you have any questions, thank you."
3PM - Back to LR office (our last day at the beach.) Talked to C. Rackley on the phone. Lot's of back & forth - again, NEVER a "hey, this is just awful. we're so sorry." He asked the owner for compensation, owner declined. LR settled w/half day's rent.
Never coming back here!

This house was very nice. Had a large living room and beautiful view. Some small things to consider: One of the ocean-view bedrooms has a sleeper sofa only and the master has not the most comfortable mattress. It was so soft my feet were higher than my body. The management company was very helpful and responsive, but I wish more items were provided at check-in. Hand soap or toilet paper should be available. After a few hours of driving the last thing you wish is to end up using a bathroom where there is no paper to be found.

The house was exactly what we needed for our big family trip to the beach, location was GREAT, can't get any closer to the beach, queen pull out couch is very very uncomfortable, will need an air mattress if going to use that as a bedroom, bunk room is located on the top floor with main living area so not ideal location to put kids to bed first and hang out

We really couldn’t figure out how to use the telescope but it was a conversation piece lol. Another chair or two on upper back deck might be nice. But overall we were very happy and had a good stay. (Oh, I tightened a few of the dining room table chair legs. They made need some attention soon. )

The house was the perfect size for our party of seven. The location is within walking distance to shopping and dining, and has the most amazing beach views. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to enjoy cooking/eating at the house. We were not able to use the trundle bed, as there was not enough room to pull it out. The pullout sofa sleeper was not comfortable enough to sleep on. There was a great variety of board games to play! Overall it was a very enjoyable stay!

The home has an amazing living room with stunning views, the location is perfect for access to the beach, and if you like a more unassuming quiet town. Decent restaurants in the area with lots of options.
There are some downsides, however -- the room has 2 master suites both with gorgeous ocean view, however, one of the master suites is used as an entertainment room (with a pull out couch) instead of a bedroom. That means if you are staying here with friends/family, only one of you will with the ocean view room.
The A/C was also broken for the first 2 nights of our stay...and to make matters worse, there are no screens on any of the windows or sliding doors so we could not leave the windows open.
The last 2 nights of our stay, the alarm system woke us up in the middle of the night with low battery alarms. There was no way to disable them. The management company was not able to help disable it before our stay was over.

This property is amazing! Beautiful views! Beach isn't "private" due to public access sites near the house but you are far enough away that there are only a few people within you. Food on the island is good, we did go off the island a few times for dinner as it was a little less expensive and not so repetitious.

Best family vacation!
This property was absolutely perfect for our family! We had 7 adults and 2 children and we could not have been happier with the accommodations. The views and stunning sunrises and sunsets were priceless. Will definitely be returning to this beautiful home!

Fantastic Fall Beach Trip
We had a lovely time at Bel Mare in Surf City- highly recommend going in the fall as the weather was perfect. The house is very nice and well appointed. Loved sitting on the deck in the evenings! I really appreciated there being a baby gate for the top floor for my little one. Absolutely loved being ocean front- that was the best part! We had a wonderful stay!

Topsail is a Great Alternative to OBX
Topsail and Surf City were a nice new area to visit. Would like to come back after Coronavirus to check out the restaurants and so forth. But it is easy to get in and out and that's beats Rt 12 north into Duck by a landslide.

Nice house-2 issues
Very nice house. Only 2 complaints-we could see a grill but there was no way to access it. The big one was the king mattress was worn out. They tried to compensate with a memory foam topper. It was so bad my husband took to sleeping on a bunk bed after two nights.

Some small issues
Toilet shut off line in spare room burst. Had somebody come to fix it. When you turn the channel or scan the guide on main tv, the volume would go up or down and would have to continue to adjust the volume.

Great home for a family vacation.
Beautiful home in a great location. Slept to the sound of the waves every night. The beach is right out your door. Great beach to find shells and sharks teeth.

Surf City
We loved the area!! Seems we picked the perfect week as the beach was not crowded and weather was perfect. The house appeared to be clean at first glance however when cleaning up after ourselves the house did not appear to have a deep cleaning recently at all. The island surrounding, window seals, ceiling fans and baseboards were filthy. Also, the fact that the mattress coverings, bed pillows and comforters remain on the beds are concerning as well as not sure how they are disinfected between guests. We hope to return to the area in the future however we will search for a larger property.

Beautiful property. Well appointed and well stocked kitchen. Beach location is perfect! Second story deck view is remarkable. Beach is not crowded and very comfortable. Everything you might want in a beach town is available. Most walkable. But, not a circus feeling like Myrtle Beach has. This was our second yeR at Bel mare and out 4th year at Topsail. We’ll be back at Bel Mare next year!

Disappointment for the price
The home could have been beautiful but difficult to relax in a home that was filthy. There was mounds of sand under and on carpet in living room. Disgusting stains on the couch and chairs that made it difficult to relax without being grossed out. The showers have not been scrubbed nor the bathroom floors. Urine stains at base of toilets. We paid good money for this house and yet spent our first hour cleaning in it. Kitchen cupboards and cabinets were filthy. I have pictures of all this. Walked into home and the first floor smelled as if someone smoked marijuana all week long with doors closed. Home was a great size with beautiful views. When contacted realty department, they acted like we were ridiculous but did send a nice young man out to help us clean. For the money we paid for this house during peak season, I expect more. Certainly not to have to clean on my vacation. It really was filthy and the realty company didn’t seem very concerned with our complaints.

Bel Mare delivered!
The place is well appointed. All appliances worked! Furniture was in good shape, although missing a few dining room chairs. View was unmatched. Easy beach access. Not for those who don't or can't climb stairs. Comfortable sleeping arrangements. Outside shower with hot / cold water. The place is airtight, so quiet. No outside noises are heard except the USMC helicopters from the nearby Marine Corps base that entertained us all week. The VRBO description was true, not oversold. We will be back to Bel Mare!

The location and view from Bel Mare are amazing!!
We really did enjoy our stay! A few things that renters should know are that the house is on three levels and there are many steps. Our extended family group included an 85 year old grandfather and a teenager with a fractured foot and on crutches. The move in and out process was rather challenging with 3 flights of steps, but we managed. Also there are many steps to access the beach but always worth the journey! Another important item to note is that the driveway is very steep and I was unable to actually park my sedan under the carport. In fact my car sustained some damage as a result of my first attempt to get into the carport where a hump prevented my entry and a large scrape on my car was sustained. The other vehicle we brought was an SUV with a higher profile and that car did not have the same difficulty. So parking in the steep drive way also created the same challenges for those with mobility issues. We were able to work around the challenges but wished we had known in advance.
Bel Mare does have the most amazing view especially from the top level where the kitchen and main living area and deck are located. The home was well equipped and nicely furnished. Thanks for another great vacation on Topsail Island! We love visiting!

Massachusetts April Vacation
House was amazing just like the pictures. Lots of stairs but worth it for the views and direct beach access. We had many stunning sunrise views with pics that made many folks jealous back in NE dealing with late April snow. Ty for sharing your lovely home with our family. Very reasonable priced for a memorable vacation. House was clean and ready for us as soon as we showed up. Took full advantage of prardiside provisions service and had plenty/Exactly the right amount of essentials. Made for car packing a heck of a lot easier. Had a couple days of high surf which bought in many different shells and sharks teeth to collect. Would definitely recommend to our friends. Had 2 minor broken fixtures on exterior reported them and property service showed up and fixed them immediately. Ty again for a great 1st time VRBO hassle free experience. 😃�

The home and location was stunning! The only problem we had was the cleanliness of the interior.
We absolutely loved spending Thanksgiving at the beach house!
The only complaint we have is the cleaning crew that maintains the property. Baseboards were filthy, toilets were stained, all faucets and surrounding countertops are covered in sediment. We lifted the rugs in the dining room and livingroom and the floors were covered in sand.
We provided our own bed linens and I’m glad we did after seeing the blankets and comforters.
The house was definitely cleaner when we left then when we arrived.
It saddens me because the house itself is beautiful!!
