The location is great! My husband and I had a great week here. The cottage wasn’t fancy, but it had what we needed, was well cared for and in a beautiful spot. Working with the owner was great. I would absolutely stay here again!

The view is the centerpiece! Green lawn sloping to a granite shore, with ocean, sky, and clouds beyond. Cozy well-cared-for cottage, and visits from the owners' pets makes it feel like home. The way a Maine coast summer visit should be!

I will never forget the moment we turned into the driveway at Leslie and Gordon's property -- the view took my breath away, and I knew this was exactly the vacation my husband and I sorely needed and would never forget. The week spent at the cottage was peaceful and restorative and an experience like no other. The cottage itself was cozy, spotlessly clean, comfortable and inviting, and everything needed to enjoy the stay was provided. Our 10 month old labrador awoke with the sun every morning, encouraging us to soak in the beauty of the sunrise at the water's edge every day, listening to the water lapping against the rocks and the seagulls welcoming the day. The location is a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of Maine. We enjoyed our day trips to Camden State Park and Monhegan Island...and McLoon's for our lobster rolls, crab cakes and chowders...but we never really wanted to wander too far afield. Reading a book in a chair by the shore, eating our dinner on the deck overlooking the bay, and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets was part of our daily routine -- as were visits from Pilot, the sweet resident Jack Russell terrier who won our hearts with his exuberant personality. We found it so hard to leave this slice of heaven....as did our pup... and truly hope to return. Thank you Leslie and Gordon for your hospitality and for providing the perfect place to recharge, reconnect and unwind.

It has everything you might need including linens, kitchenware, even some staples. Not to mention a washer and dryer. The view is just spectacular! We couldn't imagine any better. We never tired of watching lobster boats coming and going, ducks making their way along the shore or just the changing water and sky. It's a perfect location-very private, yet convenient to local restaurants such as McLoons for lobster rolls, the Happy Clam, Waterman's Beach Brewery, Weskaeg Oysters (self serve) and Archers(in Rockland) were standouts. The Sail Power and Steam Museum in Rockland is not to be missed. Leslie and Gordon were wonderful hosts, attentive if you needed them, yet allowed you your privacy. The very sweet & lovable resident pup, Pilot, made sure he stopped by daily to check on us. It's a good thing we didn't have room in a suitcase for him. If you want to be on the real Maine coast, this is it! We can't wait to return.

The Cottage by the Sea is truly an amazing spot! Leslie, Gordon and Pilot are wonderful hosts. The cottage is incredibly cozy and located in the most serene setting on the sea. The gorgeous sun rises, lapping tides, seagulls overhead and colorful lobster boats going by all add up to a spot where you can truly relax, unwind and un plug. Don't miss the opportunity to visit. We had such a fabulous time at the Cottage by the Sea! Leslie was responsive and the cottage had everything we needed for a week-long stay. It was the perfect getaway and we thoroughly enjoyed our daily visits from Pilot (who couldn’t be a sweeter pup).

It was a wonderful stay, so quite and relaxing!!

A cosy sweet home just yards from granite rocks and deep water, and pine tree forest. Very clean and comfortable, and just so comfy with a gas stove. The owners are the kindest people who are a delight to talk with. I cannot recommend highly enough. A perfect place to stay.

We could not have picked a better place for our first venture into Maine. We went to Acadia National Park and other parks in the area and actually enjoyed our time in the cabin and surrounding area just as much! The leaves are starting to turn and the weather was exceptional. Thank you so much for everything.

Nice relaxing week

This place has it all: neat cozy cottage, swishing tides, passing boats, views of distant mountains, and lovely serenity. And the owners' friendly pets occasionally stop by to say hello. For us a perfect retreat to unwind, for others a great home base to visit other mid-coast attractions. A real gem for a "summer in Maine."

Simply the best cottage that we have stayed in over the last 8 years of visiting Maine. Breathtaking views, comfortable and well equipped cottage, and a gracious owner. We will definitely be returning next summer.

Great experience!

From the moment my son and I arrived until the moment we left, we felt as if we were living in paradise! This is my fifth trip to Maine and I don't think it could be any better than this. Leslie is the ultimate hostess, so very attentive and helpful We didn't get to meet her husband, but maybe on the next visit. Pilot,the ever so friendly dog, spent time with us and even spent one night with us. The cabin was well stocked; everything you need to cook lobster or anything your taste buds might desire. The view is absolutely incredible. The location is good as we were basically centrally located. We took a two hour drive to Acadia National Park and the Fall colors were gorgeous. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. It is comfortable for two people and can accommodate a third person. Five stars are not enough to rate this piece of paradise. Such a perfect waterfront location to enjoy the views, sitting on smooth granite slabs at the water's edge or reading on the wide friendly deck. This tidy cottage has everything you might need, complete with visits from the owners' dog and cat. It all makes for a beautiful, quiet summer vacation spot. Our thanks to the owners for sharing this Maine treasure!

Cozy place away from the tourists (I know I was one of them) yet close to town . Wake up in the morning and look out to a beautiful view, drinking your coffee watching the Lobster men pulling up their lobster traps and sorting their catch . I wouldn't have asked for more, it was exactly what we needed. Beautiful art, lots of historic buildings and of course the Lobster was absolutely delicious. If you like oysters, you have to try them in Maine, the oysters have a briny start and a sweet finish, highly recommended. Planning a visit again in the near future.

Great place to get away from it all. Conveniently located near excellent restaurants and scenic towns of Rockland, Rockport and Camden. Yet you still get the sense of being in a remote tranquil location

This trip was better than we ever expected! The cottage was perfect! The amenities were more than hoped for. Leslie and her husband were wonderful! Will be coming back!
