We had a wonderful stay at the house. Inside was spacious, lots of places to hang out and be comfortable. Outside had different areas to relax and the kids spent hours playing corn hole! House was secluded up in the hills - a lovely oasis after a day of exploring. Monica was very responsive and helpful when we had questions! Would highly recommend

Lovely space….. you know when you go someplace new and you instantly feel a “good vibe” when you first walk through? This place does that. Terrific 3 night getaway while the kid was at camp. You’ll dig it.

Beautiful property surrounded by the forest. Plenty of room for everyone and lots of windows to enjoy the view. Close to the beaches as well.

The Johanna House was spacious and peaceful and a great location for our get together for 6 nights.
The primary bedroom is spectacular with its own living area and deck. In addition there are two good size bedrooms, with the downstairs bunk beds perfect for more people. The kitchen was well appointed with plenty of counter space, a large outdoor area with various seating areas, and everything we needed to have a great stay. The drive up the beautiful redwood street is a gorgeous welcome. Correspondence with the host was prompt and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for having us!

A group of friends visited and enjoyed the spacious house and backyard. It was a great place to relax. Close to the beach, good golf, a variety of outdoor activities available. It feels secluded but sound will carry to neighbors. You have everything you need at the house. The host is very communicative.

We had 12 total people ranging from 4 to 72 and the property was great for all. We grilled, we made pizzas in the oven, played countless hours of cornhole and it was enjoyed by all. We watched the stars at night and relaxed in the morning. Couldn't recommend this house more.

This rental was perfect for our family of five adults, very hip and contemporary looking on the outside and comfortable on the inside. The drive is a simple one near the little town of Aptos, and then disappearing uphill into a thicket of redwoods. Views of the treetops all around on your own private yard. I thought the pizza oven was kind of a gimmick until we used it- (it’ll be hard to go back to DoorDash after this). Great hiking within 10 minutes and same distance to a lovely ocean beach.

Our family came from different areas to watch our daughter graduation collegs. We could not have asked for a better house to be together during this time. The beauty surrounding the house was breathtaking

This place was really a dream! Great location - shopping, restaurants, and beaches only a short drive away. Home is styled beautifully. We loved the back deck and yard. Communication was prompt and easy and our feedback was received well by owners. We would stay here again and again 10/10

This place in Aptos is everything you want for a quiet getaway from the Bay Area. Perfect house to entertain a group of friends/family. Very spacious property with lots of places to just hang out, both outdoors and indoors.
Its location so close to Aptos downtown and the beaches is very convenient.
Monica was very helpful and responsive.

This was our home base for a family wedding. My family of 7 were guests at a local wedding and this was the perfect gathering spot. We really enjoyed the patio and hosted a wonderful wood oven pizza party one night. We would love to return for a longer stay. The only downside was unusually hot weather. The house was too warm during the day but cooled off nicely at night.

My group of friends had an amazing stay! The property is beautiful, there was plenty of room for all of us, and we absolutely loved the pizza oven and the views from the backyard. Monica was also an attentive and generous host. We would stay here again!

We were three families staying here with young children. The place was perfectly located to enjoy all the different things going on around the area. The house was clean and modern. The kitchen was well equipped. The pizza stove was a hit! Thank you for having us.

Beautiful property. Great location, but….A few items weren’t working right. Ovens very old and didn’t get hot enough. Coffee machine kept stopping. Ran out of propane the first night for both fire pits. (We ended up replacing both) Freezer drawer is broken. Some bedrooms had no window coverings or screens. Fixing these would match the high end feeling of the rest of the property
Best parts… pizza ovens were so much fun. Everything you would need but wood is provided. Totally recommend doing that! Beds very comfortable. Hot tub great. Views are stunning. Close to fantastic hiking and best beach was 20 minutes away. (blacks beach) Communication was very responsive.

Our group of friends traveling with our children had a wonderful time at this beautiful house. There was plenty of space for us, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook all of our meals there, and the host was easy to communicate with. The location was private and beautiful. We would absolutely stay again!

Beautiful spacious home
This home has been partially remodeled. Beautiful hardwood floors, spacious floor plan, in a very private setting. It has large bedrooms tall ceilings, and a spacious living area. Although the kitchen has a unusual layout, it is spacious and functional. The home is clean and has entertaining areas outside on two different levels. Spacious parking at the end of a long driveway.
The cons
The remodel fell short with a oven and microwave. The back yard is treacherous. Concrete steps from the house and from the upper level to the lower level are steep, short, uneven and far from building code. The back patio is built with a stone material and both the ground and the stone are uneven and can lead to trip and falls. The artificial turf area is mined with unseen holes and undulating trenches.

Beautiful House Excellent Location
From the moment you walk in the house feels like home. It has large windows to enjoy the great views in all the rooms. If you have small children that need dark room for sleep, I recommend bringing an extra blanket to cover the windows as the curtains are very light. The home is open, great for family time. All attractions were nearby: Beach, hiking, boardwalk, shopping, restaraunts, stores! The whole family agreed that we loved the house and would stay there again.

The property was perfect for our out of town family that was here for a wedding in Santa Cruz. There is plenty of room both inside and outside. Excellent experience!

Great Place
We had a great visit with twelve family members at this house! Everything was very nice.
There was a slight issue with the new dishwasher that had just been installed; I reached out to Monica and she responded immediately. The maintenance worker was able to come by in less than an hour and fixed the issue. We really appreciated the quick response!
Making pizza with the pizza oven was a great time, and I would highly recommend!

Amazing home and property
We just got back from 3 nights at this beautiful home - a family get together since before the pandemic. When we first arrived my husband said, "Why would we even want to leave? Everything is right here: view of the forest that surrounds the home, games to play inside and out, BBQ to grill burgers, double oven for dinner for 12, a hot tub to relax in, ample chairs inside and outside for visiting, eating and relaxing. No need to got out to eat - the kitchen is packed with supplies to make cooking easy. We even tried the pizza oven one night for a fun activity. The cost was more than we usually pay - but SO glad we splurged! The hosts were so responsive to every question and request. We would love to do this family get together again. P.
S. We did go down to Seacliff Beach and play in the sand, visit the museum, and enjoy walking along the water. Just a few miles away. Thanks again for sharing your lovely home.

We chose Johanna Manor to celebrate my Mom's 90th birthday. The house has a great layout for gathering located in a scenic quiet neighborhood just a few minutes from Santa Cruz and the beaches. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and entertain our family group. The highlight is the outdoor area with tables, fire pits, and a stone pizza oven.
