I stayed at this lovely cottage for the week. My family came up to enjoy a couple of the nice weather days and we all had a wonderful time. Cottage was clean and full of amenities. The host was excellent and was easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

The waterfront cottage is appealing, comfortable, and well-equipped, and well managed. I particularly enjoyed my daily swims from the dock and found the cottage cozy on rainy mornings, making my week in New Hampshire very pleasant.

We had a great stay here. The house was very clean and everything was exactly as pictured. The kitchen was very well equipped including things one typically doesn't find in a rental such as cooking oii which was a nice surprise. All kinds of aquatic stuff to do in the pond with kayaks, paddleboards and a canoe. There was plenty of room for six adults. Marybeth is a great hostess and communicates effectively throughout. Very quiet, yet only 30 minutes from restaurants, markets etc. We would definitely return.

This was a hard review. My family had a good time but not necessarily because of the home. If you or anyone in your family cannot climb stairs, this is not the house for you. But this is not the reason for the less than 5 star review.
It started a few days before we were leaving when the host informed us that they had a roof leak & would be having work done after us. When we got there, there were AC guys working on the home after check in time. They finally completed the work but the leak in the ceiling wasn’t completely fixed so part of the ceiling fell out. It looked like a part that was patched before. The front door lock had a low battery reading from the time we got there. We ended up changing batteries so the owner didn’t have to come in. The host also contacted us about needing to look at outside ac. They came by the house & ended up taking the fuse out & forgot to put it back in. After a long day out, we came back to a hot house & had to fix it ourselves. The decks, chairs, kayaks & canoe were also dirty. And be prepared for lots of muck around the dock. The trash cans in the kitchen were gross & the washer had black mold. The overall feel about the home is that the bare minimum is cleaned & maintained. It’s dated. And after a long first day, you don’t expect to have to put sheets & pillowcases on. But those are in the closet & not on the bed. And the last thing you want to do the morning before check out is clean all the linens & towels & put them away before 10am.

Great location if you like outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and tennis. We were fortunate to have great weather with one rainy day that was filled with reading and games. Marybeth (the host) was amazing providing all the details and bring available for any questions.

Location was spectacular, couldn't have asked for a better place. House was as listed with awesome amenities, such as canoe, kayak and more. My family and i had a great get together, especially coming from a long distance to meet up (Colorado). Homeowner was exceptional, and answered all questions as they arose quickly.
Chalk Pond is perfect for a family vacation, it is quiet and relaxing.

We loved our stay on Chalk Pond. It’s a beautiful setting with a lovely view. We spent much time sitting near the water and using the canoe, kayaks, and tubes on the water. The house is great. It suited our family group of 7 well. Plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is well stocked. We prepared many meals in it. The beds were comfortable. It is a relaxing and peaceful home and setting. We loved the location, close to hikes, and other attractions. We would love to stay here again.

Fresh & clean…especially the kitchen & bathrooms! The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, pans, bakeware & appliances we needed. Empty cupboards were convenient for our groceries. Very nice Weber grill located on the covered deck made for fabulous steaks even during the rainstorm. Canoe & kayaks on the beautiful, peaceful pond were fun! The big dining table gave us ample room for family dinners as well as board games. Host communicates promptly and courteously.

If you’re looking for quiet, this is your place. Secluded in the woods and on a beautiful pond, we enjoyed our stay. If you’re looking for other things to do on a vacation, you’ll need to do at least a 40 minute drive but otherwise, it was great.

My husband and I absolutely loved the quiet pond and surroundings. The house was well equipped and very nice. Marybeth was great in communicating with us and we would recommend this getaway to others who are looking for a quiet place to relax!

MaryBeth was a perfect host, she provided us with directions, restaurant options, even told us about a concert on the harbor. The house was amazing, extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed. The view from the decks off the living room and master bedroom were breathtaking. We enjoyed sipping our coffee in the morning and then a nice glass of wine in the evening on the deck overlooking Chalk Pond. During the day we spent our time down at the dock fishing, kayaking, swimming, etc. We were looking for a quiet relaxing vacation and that is one hundred percent what we got. I highly recommend this property

Perfect vacay!
My husband,two 14 year olds and I had a wonderful time at this property. Upon arrival the house was spotless and in great condition! It had plenty of space for the 4 of us and my husband enjoyed watching tv in the basement when the kids were watching the upstairs one. The pond was so quiet and peaceful. My son absolutely loved the paddleboard. He would go out for hours at a time and loved following the ducks around! My husband and I enjoyed using the canoe and my daughter liked kayaking. We really liked the cruise on Lake Sunapee and visiting The Fells. And the weather was absolutely PERFECT!!! Thank you for providing us with a wonderful vacation at a lovely house.

Summer Vacation
We had an amazing time!!! It was very relaxing! The property was clean and well maintained. We loved the beach and the tennis courts as well. Marybeth was a sweetheart! We hope to return!

Great for large family with teens
We had a wonderful week! It was our second year staying on chalk pond and we loved it! We spent more time playing cards than planned due to rain but it was still fun. We were able to spend a few afternoons floating off the dock, kayaking and fishing!

Peaceful
This chalet was accurately depicted in it's listing. For the price you can't beat being right on the water! House was clean and views were peaceful. We loved having access to a canoe and kayaks. Even in the chill of April it was great to get out on the water with our little ones. The house was comfortable for our family. We chose to bring our own sheets and towels to avoid having to wash and fold laundry on check-out day... this would have been way too hectic while trying to pack and watch our 2 and 4 year olds. If you check out on a day other than Saturday you will need to take your garbage with you. Overall, Marybeth was great to work with and responsive when I had questions while we were there. We would love to come back in the summer!

Anniversary Getaway
The house and location were perfect. Despite the heavy winds which MaryBeth had no control over, we did play golf a couple of days and were able to get in some fishing from the dock behind the house.

Awesome Location!
Waterfront, peak fall season colors, super clean well-appointed home. What more can you ask for?! We really enjoyed our stay and the owner was super friendly and helpful. Great location to make day trips to the coast, Conway Scenic Train, Sunapee, and Nubble Lighthouse & yummy Fox's Lobster House! Would rent again in a heartbeat!

This house has a fantastic view of mountains and pond at the backyard. House was comfortable for 5 adults and a kid. We took the canoe and went for boating in the pond. The views were amazing from the pond. Will definitely recommend for friends and I would prefer to come in future.

We had a wonderful stay at Chalk Pond! The house was clean and comfy, and well- equipped for fun! The owner was incredibly organized and very responsive, although we had no issues that needed urgent attention. Would definitely stay here again!

Chalk Pond rental
The cottage was spotlessly clean, attractively decorated, and was equipped with everything I wanted, all in excellent condition. I needed to get in contact with Marybeth once, and she responded promptly and solved my problem. There are 17 (or thereabouts) steps from the parking area to the house and more steps down to the pond, so that is something that someone who has difficulty with steps should be aware of.

The property was exactly as we expected! We had a fantastic week! From the start the communication was fantastic. The house was clean and as described. The pond was wonderful for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and floating! Even our teenager asked to go back next year!
