The only thing that would make this a 10/10 would be an a/c unit. However, the weather and humidity were not unbearable and the afternoon winds cooled off the unit nicely. Out of 7 nights we only had 2 that were uncomfortable. The staff was amazing as well. The snorkeling!! The best and I felt so safe having my kids swim out in the cove. If you like to have an exceptional view and easy access into ideal snorkeling this is a great location. Very well maintained and managed. The kitchen has everything you will need for your and the deck is fantastic. Easy access to parking and secure property walking distance to other beaches and restaurants. Amazing rainbows as well!

The apt was lacking many things it had formerly had--e.g. a rug, a couch, an additional chair, a c.d. player, additional silverware and glasses. Fortunately, Su and Betty helped greatly with these lacks.
I do suggest the following in order to maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the cove:
1) Movie Night should be eliminated (the blasting noise from a large screen is not conducive to a peaceful ambience)
2) Cell phone talking should be banned from the pool area
3) Children shouldn't be allowed to scream Marco Polo in the pool--especially at night. This (and a rule against cell phone talking) should be enforced.
It also might be a good idea--for safety's sake--to put a railing on the walkway to the Cove entrance.

We loved so much about our Maui stay but the best was staying here. This condo complex is a hidden gem for many reasons. The gorgeous & named landscaping, best snorkeling on the island with the most turtles, it's so upscale you expect a waiter to take your drink order at any moment when by the pool. We'd stay in this unit again and again. Loved!!

And more sadly, while we were gone from our beloved Oregon home to go to this privileged paradise, our state had unprecedented heat waves due to climate change and killed over 50 people. Having to put that out of our minds, this place allowed relaxation, laughter, peace, and time. The snorkeling is great. And on a positive note, the fish are BACK since mother earth put us in a year+ time out. I hope we can learn to respect her more in order to keep the Humuhumunukanuka apua'a back and thriving.

The unit was a little outdated and the kitchen could use a serious remodel, but for the most part that just didn't matter to us. The bathrooms were remodeled and there is new tile, but if I had to complain it would be about the dishwasher that just doesn't clean anything.
The lanai hangs right over the ocean and I imagine it could get hot facing west in the summer, but was only a little bright when we were there. I have to add that the sliding doors to the lanai work amazingly well. We spent hours out there watching the whales and the turtles and the surfers.
The place is kept spotless and the pool was delightful after a chilly snorkel or just to relax.
I was a wonderful trip and a wonderful place to stay!

We usually visit during the summer months but wanted a taste of Maui during the winter to experience the differences. Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 high school seniors, thoroughly enjoyed the sightings of the whales from our balcony! The condo was exactly as advertised. It appears the owner is starting to update the condo with recently remodeled showers. The only downside we found was the kitchen is a bit small and the kitchen accessories were limited. Our favorite spot was the lanai which was literally located over the water where dozens of turtles sunbath and swim in the cove. Immediate access into the cove made it great for snorkeling.

All the dishes and glasses need to be washed because they were covered with dirt and dust the floor was so dirty that we had to use the towels to clean it ourselves. The refrigerator wouldn’t stay cold and needed a repair, The management response was” we live on an island do you expect us to just fly one in?”
This is our fourth stay at Honokeana Cove, Every other state was Awesome!
The one bright note is the on-site manager Ryan who is an absolute jewel. He went above and beyond to get a refrigerator fixed and was there late at night to give us our keys because of a mixup in our Covid test.

Reviewer Comments: This condo is located almost directly above the waters edge, ( watch the sea turtles) faces west ( enjoy sunsets, whale watching,) Is very quiet, and very well cleaned. the beds were very comfortable, every room has a quiet ceiling fan and good ventilation. The decorations are dated, and the carpet needs to be replaced as it feels a bit crunchy on bare toes. the steps up to the loft bedroom (which has its own bathroom and open views) are quite steep to climb if you have difficulty with steps.
We never even touched the TV/ media elements, so no comment on this.
we we very happy here cooking dinners or eating out at the many local eateries nearby. snorkeling was awesome in the cove, although rocky shore takes some thought and careful navigation (only about 6' before onto sand) but not horrible. the property manager (Sue ) was a hoot and the property grounds/ garden/ pool were immaculate and beautiful. So beautiful, small destination condo and grounds but very much a JEWELL !

The views are ideal, and the residents and guests are friendly and respectful. That said, Unit 219 was not up to the standard of the other units in which we have stayed previously. The housekeepers keep it clean, but cosmetically it is in need of attention.
