Completely comfortable - would definitely stay again.

We were in Mill Valley for a wedding and stayed one week. Overall we enjoyed the location although parking is a little tight if your vehicle is on the bigger side. Appreciated the two story set up with the bedroom on the lower level and kitchen/living area on the top.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grace's guest house in Mill Valley. It was perfectly situated for day trips to Muir Woods, Sonoma, Napa and San Francisco. It was a fun drive up the winding roads, some of which are narrow. The apartment all of the conveniences that you will need. Grace was very responsive for any questions that I had and had lots of recommendations printed out for us. The bathroom is quite compact as is the shower, and the bed was a bit soft for our backs. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

Bright, sunny, compact. Great spatial arrangement (I like duplexes) and lots of thoughtful touches. But drive a small vehicle (road is windy and narrow).

Lovely, light, bright, lots of natural light, furnished nicely, immaculate, many thoughtful touches such as abundant linen, towels and a well equipped kitchen. The location is convenient and beautiful. There was plenty of hot water and as it was cold and rainy, I was happy to have good heat. The bed was very comfortable. The division of space allowed two people to have privacy. The eating area was bright and cheerful. The area is quiet. This was a delightful place and we hope to return.

Stayed here for two weeks and the property is great. Plenty of space, bed was very comfortable and had all the amenities required. Just outside of Mill Valley, far enough that the property is quiet and feels like a country house but being very close to the town centre. Host was very helpful and on hand if anything is required.

Lots of trees so it was colder than I expected - I am not complaining! I just didn’t pack enough warm clothes. The Mill Valley art and music festival happened while we were there so I got a fabulous shawl there that did the trick. Lovely place, wonderful host, cute little town. I want to go back!

We loved our stay at Grace's home! The property was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. We are already thinking about coming back and staying for longer - it felt like the perfect getaway to Mill Valley. Walkable to town (albeit a bit steep!), easy access to hiking trails, and a bit of peace and quiet. Highly recommend!

Silly ol me didn't check and see that there are hundreds of feet of elevation gain between the property and downtown Mill Valley, but that wasn't as much of an issue as I initially expected. The second floor is beautiful, full of light, and has clear views to Mt. Tam. The first floor is cooler, has a toilet that's secluded from the rest of the first floor but not closed off with a door. The bed is also not very comfortable, it felt like my head was slightly lower than the rest of my body, and there was large soft section on my wife's side of the bed that caused her to feel like she was going to fall out of it. Parking was easy, and access was private.

This home had everything we needed for our 4 day weekend away. Very clean, very quiet, and out of this world views of Mt. Tam. Extremely convenient for all of the day trips we took.... Pt. Reyes, Napa, Mt. Tam, even down to Half Moon Bay. Would definitely stay here again the next time we are out in Marin County.

This was the perfect place for our Mill Valley stay. Tastefully decorated, awesome views of Mt. Tam, skylights, a nicely equipped kitchen, an extra half-bath, walkable to town and trails…all provided by a thoughtful host! We look forward to a return visit.

Such a wonderful property to relax after being active all day. Centrally located so getting into the city and points north were so easy. Loved waking up and seeing Mt. Tam. We will for sure be back.

Comfortable, cozy,. well appointed, good location to get to other destinations in Mill Valley, loved the sky lights in the kitchen and sitting area, host very responsive to any questions, good parking, nice amenities like shampoo, odorless detergent, and a lot of towels.

This property was perfect for our 6 day stay. We were in town to visit family, so this operated as our home base to sleep and shower. It was spacious and homey, and had everything we needed. Location was perfect and the walkability was manageable. Make sure to read the welcome info as it outlines the stairs to take down to town, as it can get confusing. The property owners were responsive and easy to communicate with.

Very comfortable bed downstairs with a very accomodating living/ dining/ kitchen upstairs with gorgeous views of Mt Tam! Only minutes to Muir Woods and Muir Beach! Dreamy environs.

I was in the area for work and this apartment was a convenient base - close to the highway and downtown Mill Valley but in a quiet residential area. There is a lovely view from the upper floors. The space was comfortable and well appointed. A view things to be aware of: There are stairs to get to the living space and kitchen and the bathroom that has a shower, which may be a concern for people with mobility issues. Also, the shower may be uncomfortable for people who are tall or have a larger body habitus due to the sloped ceiling and narrow door.

This is the perfect location for my husband and I to see SF and the surrounding area. We truly enjoyed our stay at Grace's cottage. She is a gracious host and responsive to all our questions. The one bedroom cottage was very spacious for two people. The kitchen was fully equipped and having 2 bathrooms was a plus! The washer and dryer came handy as well. We took long drives and short ones while we were in SF. We took day trips to Monterey, Carmel by the Sea and did the 17 mile drive. We went to Point Reyes and Santa Cruz and Muir woods/beach overlook. It was fantastic to come home after a long trip and rest up in a quiet secluded street away from the crowd and noise of SF. The cottage overlooks Mt. Tam and Mill Valley town is just a 5 min. drive. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean and the kitchen was equipped with all the pots, dishes, and silverware. We cooked our breakfast in the morning before heading out and was able to wash clothes before packing it to our next destination. Awesome place Grace and thank you for allowing us to stay at your place. We truly enjoyed our stay and will stay again the next time we're in town. Cheers!

My husband & I planned a trip to the Muir Woods and found this property on VRBO for rent. It looked cute enough so we booked it. Boy were we happy we did! The guest house is so cute! The overall cleanliness of the property was spotless, the location was perfect, and communications with the owner were quick and easy. We had read in one of the prior reviews that the stove was old ("antique") and didn't function properly so that was one of the first things we tried out. Yes, it was an older stove but it was perfectly functioning, with all 4 burners lighting right up on the first try. In addition to the stove, there was also an electric kettle that we used every day. The description from owner said that they were within walking distance to the main part of town. This is true and we saw many people making the trek on foot. For me, however, it was a challenging walk (I am 55 years old with arthritic hips). The area where the home is located is very hilly. That being said, I'm sure younger, more athletic people would enjoy it. I was emailed a welcome package before the trip that I read through but forgot to bring with me. Not a problem because it was also in a binder at the property. I also loved the bottled water and chocolate that accompanied the personalized welcome note that was on the table when we entered the upstairs living area. I highly recommend this property!

My wife and I very much enjoyed our three-night stay at this detached guest house. It was truly a haven from urban life. The property itself is peaceful, private, clean, quiet and comfortable. It's in a very nice upscale and safe neighborhood. There is an open living area and kitchen upstairs. The sleeping area is downstairs. The bed is quite comfy. Soft but supportive. There is no night-time noise. The posted pictures are accurate but may not fully do the property justice. The views of Mount Tam from the living room windows (when you stand up) are spectacular. Mill Valley itself and Marin as a whole have so much to offer. Mill Valley itself has wonderful neighborhoods to walk in. Marin has redwoods, Point Reyes National Seashore, and so much more. There are plenty of great places to eat in Mill Valley as well as the neighboring parts of Marin. The host's comment about "walk to town" is technically correct if you like to walk hills and long public stairs — and I mean LONG stairs. My wife and I, who are in our early 70s but in very good shape, took the easiest walk down the hill to town. Although it was beautiful, we decided it wasn't really safe for us. Very narrow two-lane road through the redwoods that for significant stretches does not have an easy place to step aside for traffic. However, the traffic is very light on that road. Overall, though, it was a wonderful experience. We were very happy with our choice.

Was an absolute haven! Great to get away from the city and find peace and quiet! Interesting neighbothood-and convenient to Muir Woods for hiking!

The detached guest house is full of light a great views. The location is excellent with easy access to trails, restaurants, ferries and the city.

The stay in Mill Valley was peaceful. The house needs a bit of attention to cleanliness. There is also construction currently going on near the downstairs bedroom and the construction room has a shower curtain over it but is open to access. There was an odor of dampness or something due to this area not being properly blocked off. Really not okay. The oven isn't working as mentioned before on a previous review. I asked the owner and she thought it was operator error but I know how to use old stoves/ovens and this one doesn't have functional knobs to turn on the oven and the oven isn't working. Although there is a kitchen I would say it's limited to microwave, coffee pot and one frying pan with a burner for use. I rented the little house due to the photos but the furniture and carpet has a lot of use and generally the unit isn't clean and not as pictured. It is time for an update, just seems used and not cared for.

This is a nice property in the mountain area. Was about 1/2 mile from Mill Valley downtown, down hill walk into town and uphill back, so where the right shoes :-) We had a great time and the place is as nice as advertised
